Not a bad weekend, with the exception of my bodily aches and pains, and the continual failure of my favorite teams to win games. I spent the majority of my weekend puttering. I walked with Betsy on Saturday morning, and yesterday morning burning financial documents that I brought back with me from Florida.
Last night I drove up to Marietta to Barb’s and Allan’s. We watched some episodes of Survivor as they served up delicious shredded pork and macaroni and cheese. Yum!
This morning I saw Target advertising “Cyber Monday” deals. For fuck’s sake, we are still four days away from “Black Friday”! I think retailers just can’t help themselves…
Today I need to do the choring that should to get done prior to the arrival of rain overnight. If all goes to plan I will shovel the detritus from the curb, blow the leaves off of the roof, clear the leaves from the deck and driveway, and do a little WLF work. Tonight I intend to stay home and prepare myself and the ITP Estate for the rest of this holiday week.

Had a fantastic 6 day backpacking trip. Weather was awesome. One bear decided to visit us late one evening. He was just curious but a big fellow. Every November, for the past 8 years, 3 of us girls take a week off and head to woods. This year we did 90 miles on the AT in Virginia. It was very dry and a lot of the water sources were dry as a result.

I did go to the Black Sheep hash yesterday. It was pre-laid and short so I got home in plenty of time for Survivor night at Barb and Allan’s. Treated to a delicious meal of pulled pork, Mac n cheese and wine.
I have my Women of the Woods this morning and then working the rest of the day. Wish I had the day off to deal with the leaves before the rains come. They started blowing leaves this morning around 6 across the street..argh.
Dogsitting Mia and Emma for 2 1/2 weeks while their parental units visit Namibia.
6?!?! I’m being kind to my neighbors and waiting until 9:30-10:00 before I start leafblowing.

The bad news Friday was our buyer backed out on Mickey. Doubly bad, as we had waived off another potential buyer as he “was sold”. F.
Saturday was such a nice day, I got out on the scooter for breakfast. My first choice, a little hole in the wall in Haralson had no parking. For there not to be any parking for a scooter is really amazing. And the place ain’t all that big to begin with. Second choice had a waiting line, but there was a place on the bar, so all was good. Later I actually dusted off my CX bike for 16.
Yesterday, after a slow start, I ran errands, WASHED MY CAR (!), then strung lights along the front porch. Not Christmas lights per se, just lights.
Debbie drove to Aiken to pick up a temporary ride while Phinney is on the DL. “Chicken Little” (I kid you not) is thick, swaybacked, and tri-color but has hunt experience. Wednesday will be a check ride.

Wordle in 5, I was headed off in the wrong direction but course corrected. No misses on Connections.
I spent a lot of my weekend at the keyboard. I wrote a content management system years ago to generate all of the various materials that comprise a training presentation (PowerPoint, example workbook, poll questions and/or review/final exam questions, key word glossary, and the course description itself). Everything has been automated execpt for the course description, it was 80% automated, but I’ve been kicking the can on the last 20%, which makes for a bunch of tedious shuck and jive when I get dozens of bookings at once for the new year. I finally cracked the code on how to solve that missing 20%, and I have crap-ton of menial work to do to position things correctly in my database, but my future self is going to be wildly pleased with my current self. It’s been an exponential problem to solve, I have 75 different topics and they be taught in varying lengths between 50 and minutes. I am glad to have finally gotten my life to a place where my brain can function at its highest level again. It’s been a while.

Yes! And another piece of the puzzle fell into place today, I cracked the code on how to make writing the self-study questions easier and build the required glosssary at the same time. I’m like damn it! Oh well, we can’t see what we can’t see until we’re ready.
I’m feeling pretty smart today. No, not because of Wordle, that’s dumb luck! I’m feeling smart because the last time I discovered a water leak in the basement due to a leaking one gallon jug of water I put the rest into a very large bin in case it happened again. Well, somehow another jug of water sprung a leak, but this time it was contained! Woot!
You collect jugs of water? Is CoA water service sketchy? We have water (not enough for everyone) stashed away, but when you have to have power to get water, it becomes a bit more critical.
I have had water outages and boil water advisories, so yes, I keep some water around. If not for the flimsy jugs leaking they would last my lifetime.

Friday I went to the Hawks game but otherwise it was a very quiet weekend.
Your comment about George from last week (he’ll get over the electric fence incident) has yet to happen. We’re having to essentially drag him out the door and even then, he hardly leaves your side. He did come off the porch without a lead yesterday while we were watching the new horse, but right to my side- no random wandering…

We kept busy all weekend.
Saturday went on a walk down Powers Ferry to get some cash from the closest Truist bank. Saw this little store (that used to be a restaurant) and thought we’d check it out. I think it is all eastern European foods – the few things that were in English (that I remember) referenced Bulgaria & Hungary.
Then we saw a little tiny coffee hut (I am shocked the place is in business, its in a weird spot)- that had a sign for Chicago hot dogs. We were a little hungry, so we tried a chili cheese dog. It was good, and I feel good about spending money at a little local business.
Walk ended up being about 5 miles.
Saturday night we went to the Dixie Tavern for an 80s vs 90s band battle. Both bands were excellent, but I remembered I’m not a big grunge fan. It was really loud too (of course) my ears can’t take it anymore.
Sunday was such a nice day again, we went out to Kennesaw Mtn & did a not up the mountain hike. A good 6 miles of fairly flat trail.
Then – Survivor watching night.
Most of high school and all of college were in the 90s for me, so I am a grunge gal all the way around. That is totally my jam!
not sure how, but I just never got into the grunge music of the 90s.
Grunge was one of the eras in which I listened to a ton of music, and love it still.

Taking a break from a busy morning of choring. I know the leaves will return later, but wanted to blow them clear while it’s still dry.
OMFG, I finally understand how using ChatGPT can actually improve my life. I made a bunch of rookie mistakes with it at first a few months ago and wrote it off as an annoying distraction. With that said, the way that I force myself to learn new things these days is to sign up to lead a presentation I know nothing about, which teaching presentations on using AI in Excel next year. The AI light has finally come on for me. For instance, I can give it a list of topics and it writes the opening paragraph for my course descriptions for me. I’m going to use it to get me beyond the blank page on the remaining chapters in the book I’m writing as well.
That’s coolt! I used it to generate a letter I need to write to a Games volunteer and it was a great starting point.
Yes! It’s remarkable for getting past the blank page. And in my case, it’s doing a damn good job of creating these dozens of teaser paragraphs that I need written.
I have a couple co-workers who use it regularly. It can be really helpful!
Yes! I am finally getting out of my own way and seeing that. I tend to be a bit stubborn when it comes to new technology…it took me the longest time to capitulate to the fact that GPS apps truly can figure out the path of least resistance better than I can. I do finally get on board.
And I managed to schedule both my cardiologist and my ophthalmologist at the same time on the same day, of course they are 60 miles apart. Fortunately the eye doc has more space in hos schedule. The heart doc was booking in April or May!
