Not much to report from my end. Yesterday seemed to slip away, with most of my time spent in WLF, eating, and attempting to finish a challenging jigsaw puzzle.

I am about 1/4 of a chapter away from finishing the manuscript on my current book, which like being a foot away from the hole on the 18th green. I will tap that sucker in today. It doesn’t mean I’m done, I still have go through the author review stage, but it’s a huge milestone for sure.
Almost as big of a milestone as me just completing my jigsaw puzzle! 😀

Thank you, Sally! There are some similiarities between this current book and completing puzzles. I reorganized the book last year, but not well enough. This year’s reorganization has definitely been a puzzle, but now I am much happier with the book. I inherited the text from another author a few years ago, and it’s taken some time to get it to the place where I’m happy with it. It’s a blessing and a curse to take over someone else’s writing.
LOL, thanks! 🙂 There definitely is some serious satisfaction to completing a jigsaw puzzle. Maybe someday in the future I’ll have the bandwidth to work on those again. We did have a jigsaw puzzle in Belize that we completed as a group over the course of the week. Nothing like having the discipline of a return flight to get you to get the dang thing finished!

Back from a quick Publix run. Had to make it there today to scoop up some BOGO coffee and a few other items that were either BOGO or for which I had coupons. Pantry is fully stocked again for the foreseeable future.
Walked around WLF, things are surprisingly good at the moment. I am starting to get some long purple eggplant, peppers are still trying, and the okra is finally starting to flower. There may be hope yet!
Hmm, just realized I brought home 40W (equivalent) instead of 60W. Debating whether a return trip to Publix is necessary or if these will be sufficient for my needs.
Allan’s luck with bad AC struck again yesterday – his firehouse has temporary ones that have to be dumped every 4 hours. He was at a class (another active shooter one) – and the place they held it had crappy AC. He called & told me to turn the AC way down here for when he got home. Then – the Subaru is having AC issues – something that is going to cost a pretty penny to fix, so he didn’t even get to cool down on the drive home.
so David – your bikes did not get looked at last night – he wasn’t up for hanging in the garage in the heat.
Besides that – busy busy work wise yesterday (& today)
Bummer about the AC, especially in this intense heat.
Barb, there is truly no rush on the bikes. I’m happy to be able to have Allan taking care of them, and when he gets to them will be great. I appreciate the update. Life really does come at us in clumps sometimes, I hope his A/C issues are short-lived.
His firehouse will not be fixed any time soon – damn City of Atlanta & the way they do things. It will be interesting when the heat doesn’t work this winter. (someone said the expenses have been approved, but it will take months for anything to actually happen)
The car -its just a matter of getting it to the shop & spending money.
The class is again today – let’s hope they found a different classroom with better AC.
Have him google the issue. I was able to fix my Mazda AC with a $10 relay.
oh – it isn’t that simple – we’ve known about the issue for a while, but just waiting until it was really crapping out to spend the money. I can’t remember what Allan said was wrong, but he & the guys at the shop have discussed the options.
I have nothing to report. Work is really busy with new student orientation all week. Who are all these people all over the place?!
Just looked at my camper loan on my phone – we pay quite a bit more than the payment amount each month – our next payment is due 8/15/26. That just made me laugh. I will pay it off 1 month soon, just didn’t feel like transferring money to do it. (its a 10 year loan)
Funny. It reminds me of the spreadsheet I did in 1999 when I got my mortgage. The final column said 2023, and I thought there was an error in my spreadsheet when I realized that it was correct, it would take me that long to pay it off.
I used to do that with my student loans. It actually helped quite a bit when I moved to Atlanta because I was out of work for three months and I was able to just stop paying my student loans for that time period. It’s good practice.

Good morning, I’m in the office today. Have not been here for like 2 months 🙂 There are actually other people here so having real conversations, so weird.
Forgot to mention yesterday, you all must have had one hell of a storm blow through! There were so many huge trees down in Grant park I was amazed.
I had not heard about Grant Park, well other than the one mentioned by David. Did you have the urge to chop them up Mr Lumberjack? Do you need a refresher to keep your certification? 🙂
Funny you mention that, I did think about how long it would take to clear all the blow downs to make the park usable again. LOL
It’s a bit of a wildcard. Sometimes the city clears them fast, sometimes they linger for months. It’s the worst when they cheap out and leave the park littered with giant stumps, although they do seem to get around to those eventually.
Yes, the park got smacked hard. Several big trees fall over the course of the year, but this storm definitely accelerated the pace.
Yeah, Grant Park in general got hit pretty hard. Friends on Grant St has a huge tree fall on their back yard/back alley which totalled their car. Luckily they’d had it trimmed to fall away from the house.
Wordle fail. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. I also had a Connections fail. I started off strong when I started playing it, but my wheels have come off.
Home from work today with a migraine. It’s been really slow lately so I may be on the bubble if they decide we’re over staffed. We’ve been taking turns leaving early. I’ll be bummed if they decide to cut back.
On the good news front, my ribs feel fine now. I still can’t get comfortable sleeping on our mattress but they don’t bother me when I’m going about my day. Hang in there David, 5 weeks seems to be the magic mark.
I’ve been binging on Atypical and really enjoying it. I’ll be sad when it ends.

I’m glad to hear the great report! I hadn’t scrolled down this far yet when I posted my question earlier. If five weeks is the magic number then I have a couple more weeks ahead of me. I’m at the stage where I don’t really notice it during the day, and depending upon how I’m laying at night I may or may not notice it.
The manuscript for book #6 is complete! I have until September 8 to clear up all editorial comments, and then I should be done with that book. Of course by then I’ll have already started writing book #7, so no rest for me.

Thank you, Debbie! It amazes me too, particularly given my ADHD. I wanted to write a book for about 20 years before the first opportunity came around. It’s like either you’re an author or you’re not. I update QuickBooks Online for Dummies once a year, and so book #6 is my 4th version of that, so it does inflate my numbers a little. I do put a lot of work into every version though.
*Somebody* is caving to lure of alcohol this afternoon and meeting some buddies at Sweetwater Brewing. So, no bike riding for me tonight. I do it to myself…
