Five tickets, of those only two matched a single non-MegaBall number; $10 thrown away. As an unemployed person it takes some effort for me to earn $10, I shouldn’t flippantly throw it away.

Last night I decided that I should do a little cooking even if it meant heating up the kitchen. I roasted a pan of sweet Georgia candy roaster squash with the carrots I salvaged from WLF. In an effort to multitask by filling the hot oven I also made a yellow squash casserole adding in some of the Asian greens that I purchased at the farmers market yesterday. Both were delicious. Needless to say, I have plenty of leftovers to eat for the next few days.

I also spent time watching a documentary on YouTube about the 2023 Barkley Marathons. Every time I see something about Barkley I think back to the early 2000s when Little Easy talked about attempting it. I wish I had gone up as support or something back then to have experienced, not that I was ever physically fit and mentally unfit to attempt such a feat.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was TOWEL. I fully expect everyone to get a deuce and one up me today.

  1. TIL: the Spanish name for Germany is Alemania.

    • I learned this turning the Germany v Korea game on Peacock, which has only offered the Women’s World Cup games to watch in Spanish.

Germany, one of the tournament’s favorites to win, is on the brink of being bounced from the World Cup. They are currently losing 1-0 and would require Columbia to beat Morocco if they lose this game.

    • And they have been knocked out. As they say over there, Tschüs!

and that is why I only buy 1 mega millions / Powerball ticket. The odds don’t really increase when you buy 5, or 10, or whatever.

We had Libby (Ramaho’s daughter) come over for dinner since she’s home alone this week – she’s a 16 year old, but got her to talk a little. 😉 School started this week.
Disclaimer – Donna (Breastroke) is around the house this week, but she’s busy.
Decided on an easy meal – Skyline chili dogs. Just wasn’t in the mood to make a big meal last night.

    Wordle in 2, you’re welcome.

Still feeling crappy. Will send Debbie off for a Covid test later. As we discussed, even if I have it, it won’t change how we are treating it.

Saturday is the Games kickoff party and I emailed the planners that I would not be there so they have s9 me time to find another grill master. Sorry to miss it.

    Ummm… Skyline!

Wordle in 4. ADIEU did me no favors.

Yesterday I learned Fani (fuh-nee) Willis’ father was a Black Panther. I wasn’t clear how to pronounce her name and looked it up.

I’m closing in on the manuscript for my book. I’ll be a week or late if I finish by Tuesday like I hope too, which isn’t terrible.

Chicago is going to be at Chastain Saturday, September 30. I’m planning to get tickets. Last year when I was in Indianapolis Rachel and I were walking to a store and heard them playing in a venue a mile away. They were TIGHT! I promised myself I would go if they came to Atlanta. Any interest from ITP readers? I think it may have been 20 years since I’ve been to Chastain. I lived within walking distance of it for 10 years back in the day.

    • Barb says:

I would LOVE to go to Chicago, but alas, I’ll be in Iowa at my parents house.
I’ve seen them a few times, they always put on a good show.

      • David says:

I thought you might be game, Barb. I know we had a discussion about Chicago on the blog. I am really choosey about which 70s bands I’ll go see these days, but based upon what I heard in the distance last year, Chicago is ready to bring it.

I already have tickets for the Brian Jonestown Massacre at Variety Playhouse for early November.

    • Not a fan of Chicago (the band) nor Chastain (the venue).

      • David says:

Not surprised on either count. 🙂

      • Barb says:

I like Chastain, I love bringing my own food & drinks. I know some people think the crowd (mostly the pit, the season ticket holders that don’t even know the band at times) doesn’t pay attention, but I’ve never really thought it was that bad.
I’ve had so many great times there.
Now I need to look & see who all is paying this fall…….

  5. Critters discovered how tasty my inferior corn is and knocked down the remaining four stalks. Of those they got two, and I have claimed the other two. Corn is now done and I am cleaning the area in which it grew.

  6. Debating whether to assemble and season my new Blackstone grill I bought myself as a birthday gift.

    • Barb says:

Go for it!!! the little one we got with the camper has been great, but it does need to be VERY seasoned. The 1st couple uses weren’t as successful as they have been since. (so, don’t get too upset the 1st time you use it)

    • Bob says:

Yes! Welcome to the blackstone family!
Plenty of YouTube videos on seasoning, just keep applying and burning off the oil. Once it is well seasoned you never have to worry about it.

      • Thanks.

I have to admit seeing you, Stan, and Barb & Allan with one made me a bit envious so I decided to jump on the bandwagon.

        • David says:

          What’s so special about them?

          • It’s a “portable” propane fueled griddle top. On it I plan to cook meals in WLF. It’s far more convenient than charcoal. Did I need one? Absolutely not, but it was something I decided to buy regardless.

          • David says:

Ah, thanks. It’s the portable nature that’s the hook. I haven’t cooked over charcoal in years and years, so I’m all in on propane. My gas grill is aged, but works fine, so I’ll probably continue to ride that horse for a while.

  7. If you had August 3rd as the next time my mother’s cable company will make a visit, give yourself one point.

  8. Barb says:

Went for a little walkabout this morning – bought another lottery ticket – its up to 1.25 billion.
I also bought a $2 Cash for Life ticket – its either $1000/day or $1000/week – that really appeals to be – can’t blow all the money at once this way.

  9. Did you know that Atlanta has a major league rugby team? No? Well don’t bother. I learned about it today in a story stating that it had been acquired and relocating.

  10. Sally says:

Guess I need to jump on the bandwagon and buy a lottery ticket. I probably won’t buy a Blackstone…I’ll just go visiting!!! (unless I do win the lottery) lol Went to the new Kroger. Man that place was huge. Everything was so clean and pristine. The Barkley is still not something I care to attempt. Chicago was my first concert back in the 70’s. I remember getting in trouble as I was told I couldn’t go but I went anyways.
