I’ve come to the realization that I won’t be anywhere near as slender/light as I would like to be for BRAG in one month. This saddens me, but it’s my own damn fault.

I had a lot of thoughts yesterday as I spent a long eight hours behind the wheel, most of which weren’t great but none of which involved wishing that my car would “drive itself”.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was CHASM.

    Wordle in 5.

Anniston was OK. Not nearly enough riders in the undercard. Biggest field was 25?? Shame considering all the work involved. No real answers as to why, except there was also a softball tournament and a mountain bike race, all of which made getting a hotel room near impossible. We did have a TJ sighting. Apparently, Shimano has stopped providing neutral support on the East coast (we had them in Redlands). One of the local was doing support, so he went back home to cut the grass.

25 on the CX bike after I got home yesterday and I was whipped by bedtime last night. Still dragging a bit this morning.

On the Key West Express to…… Key West.
I’m going yo lose my signal shortly, as we are headed out into the Gulf.
      I’ll check in later.
No Skyline yet, they closed at 4pm on Sunday.

      • steve says:

        Closed at 4??? WTH!

I follow the Skyline FB page and they had a pic from the Flying Pig Marathon this weekend of a runner in a singlet that said. “Will Run For Skyline”.

How long is that ferry ride?

        • Barb says:

We left at 0800am, should be there by noon. Ill let you know
I’m sitting outside, I don’t have time to get seasick. Almost everyone is napping inside.

And I assume your 8 hour drive was to Florida?

Wordle in 5 today, starting with APRON. As with yesterday I had to burn my 4th turn eliminating additional letters from the alphabet in hopes of uncovering additional matches.

On Saturday I was helping my daughter clean off the piles of stuff on her desk and unearthed the new pair of sunglasses I bought last year and then promptly lost two weeks later. I don’t generally lose things. I do put things in super clever places that takes me a while to find them again, but I don’t usually outright lose things, and these seemed outright lost, and pretty quickly after purchasing them. So it was hugely satisfying to find them again.

Yesterday started with the monthly qi gong and meditation class I’ve been doing. It gets better every time.

Today I started pulling things out of the closet in my living room. It’s been a longstanding chaos container and I look forward to eliminating more stuff from there.

  4. FWIW, I am having Internal Server errors today, so it happens to us all..

Wordle in 4 starting with BREAD.

I went to a party hosted by a nearby hunt club. One of my friends, who is a member, invited me. Her other guests and I arrived early and it was a very awkward 45 minutes before our patron arrived. Clearly the regulars were wondering who we were, but none bothered to chat us up and ask.

We ended up leaving before the Derby and dinner and going to a nice restaurant for dinner. On the plus side, Fig competed in two terrier events – a show and a race. She was clueless for both, but so cute!

Had a lovely ride yesterday followed by dinner with Meg and Ella – a really nice day.

Mostly working weekend, we had our unit’s diploma ceremony on Saturday which meant I was at work at 7:00 am, then this morning was the big Emory Commencement, also at work by 7:00 am. I could use a day off!

    • steve says:

Pardon my ignorance, Jenka. You work for “one of the schools” and have a separate graduation? Then someone can “walk” again?

      • Jenka says:

Emory has 9 graduate and professional academic units: the law school, the business school, the nursing school, etc. I work for the school of theology. Each unit has a separate diploma ceremony where the students actually receive their diplomas. The Monday Commencement ceremony is the “official” ceremony for all graduating students. Because there are like 3,000 graduating students they don’t get to walk across the stage, which is why each unit holds their separate ceremony.

Hotel gave us a free beer at check in.
Hotel costs too much, but it is a nice touch.

  8. It’s 84°F, but “feels like” 97°F. Ugh, not fun…
