The City of Atlanta is putting ANOTHER All Way Stop on Flat Shoals between my house and EAV. This will be the third one in that quarter mile stretch within the last year. The three intersections they (will) have made All Way Stops are Flat Shoals / May, Flat Shoals / Newton, Flat Shoals / Milton (Van Vleck). On that street there is only one intersection they’ve left alone, Flat Shoals / Van Epps. This will also be the fifth intersection in the mile stretch on Flat Shoals between Glenwood and Bouldercrest to become an All Way Stop, four or which were erected since 2021. The City is out of control! I’m so fucking tired of this nonsense that if I were independently wealthy I’d start a campaign to stop their madness.

I’m a little less mad that I forgot that March is Phoenix Flies month. Throughout the month there are free tours of buildings and neighborhoods. Prior to 2020 I really enjoyed the odd things that I could discover for free.

Say goodbye to the Southside Beltline until 2025. Converting gravel to pavement starts today and is projected to finish in Q4 2024. I’m pretty sure that I will be dead before the Atlanta’s circular driveway is completed.

In brighter news my volunteering with Trees Atlanta went well Saturday. We pulled a lot of invasive plants that were are on a piece of property which will eventually be incorporated into Kirkwood Urban Forest.

This morning the M6 is in for its 100k mile maintenance. My how mileage flies… I hope that they don’t find another expensive repair this visit.

I’m going to have to cover my beautiful potato plants for the next few nights to protect them from the predicted freezing weather. Dangen!

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was FICUS.

  1. Well, not as expensive of a visit at last time, but at 100k there are some relatively expensive jobs that I just approved to have done. I won’t go into details, but I’m in for a $750 bill today. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, my dream car has always been a Company Car so I’d never have to pay for anything.

Wordle in 4 starting with PEACE. Mini in 46.

I started to write that I hate “spring forward”, but at this stage I realize that I am able to just accept it. I have also come to accept the plethora of stop signs. I just do not have it in me to be vitriolic about anything these days. Been there, done that. It’s interesting to observe that hate can become habit, but that hate can also be let go.

    • If I weren’t directly impacted by all of the stop signs erected by CoA I wouldn’t be so angry, but these impact me almost anytime I drive from my house. It’s starting to feel as if the City is looking for more ways to stop cars for traffic tickets, or the ability to search vehicles.

I am not begrudging your choice to he angry. I have had a bunch of stop signs appear on my daily route to/from my kids’ school and speed humps installed on my street even (which killed off the Grant Park Criterium). I’m just saying I don’t have it in ME to be angry any more. I am finding that anger was holding me back from my goals. I have first-hand proof from a meeting over the weekend that being zen can bring about some pretty remarkable stuff in life.

Have you looked into finding out why the CoA decided you needed all the extra stop signs? Too much speeding? Accidents? The city is cheap, so someone had to have made a case to have them installed.
Fire engines Hate speed humps, they really slow down response time.

Wordle in 5, Mini 1:17. You all beat me easily today.

Wordle in 3!! And all I had was 2 vowels, only one in the right place.

A fairly quiet weekend. We went to the breakfast after the final hunt of the season, and to thank the huntsman who is retiring from mounted work. He will still tend the hounds but won’t be hunting them. An hour on the trainer with a GCN video. 12 minutes intervals! Starting slow and finishing big. I think I wrapped up at over 400w. Ugh.

Yesterday was a complete washout. Nothing outside, I cleaned up in the man cave a bit and started watching “For All Mankind” on Apple TV. An alternate history of the space race where Russia is the first to the moon. Interesting.

  4. Still waiting for my car work to be completed. At least the cost/hour is going down? 🙂

Last morning in AZ, flight departs 3:30 ish, hope to land just after 10.
Mark & Annette’s flight was delayed yesterday, (they landed around 11pm), here’s to hoping ours won’t be. Managed to get our First Class upgrades applied, so it will be a more comfy ride home.

Saturday we went to the Hall of Flame Fire Museum. It’s was a crazy big place, so many apparatus from the beginning of Firefighting on up & lots of other stuff. If you really wanted to read & learn about everything in there, you’d need a week. It was a very cool place.
Then headed to a brewery not too far away, that was actually in an old fire house. Good singing duo, pretzels as big as our heads, tasty beers, nice afternoon.

Sunday was a local bar for a beer & band while we wasted time waiting to see when their flight would finally have a good departure time (had to see when it finally was in route to Phx). Fun band, kind of a biker theme bar.

This morning we are going for a hike before turning in the rental car. Then we have to come home. Vacation is over today. Back to reality…….

  6. Just shopped at an Ollie’s. Has anyone been to one? Very reminiscent of Big Lots! back in the Olsen days.

  7. Back from my morning shenanigans. Car maintenance, Tractor Supply, Ollie’s, crappy thrift store, Publix. Time for lunch!

Wordle in 3 starting with AISLE. I had only the first letter wrong in 2 – I was almost on fire!

Saturday was fun. It’s been a while since I’ve hung out with my hunt pals. Tried to talk career sense into one of the daughters who is in her 3rd year at UGA. She’s decided that making lots of money is not important. That’s a lovely sentiment when your parents are still supporting you. Ah, to be young and dumb again, I’d make fewer of the dumb choices if I had a do-over, but that’s life I guess.

My ortho appointment is in the morning! I really hope he can do something that offers relief right away. This is my first real issue with knee pain, so maybe there’s minimal damage. Now that I’ve wrapped up my contract project, I have lots of things on my agenda that require a functional knee dammit.

Back from a hilly hike at South mountain- weren’t really sure where 1 trail went, so ended up cutting the hike a little shorter then we planned. We needed to return the rental car by 11, so that was ok it was a little short.
Freakin rock dinged the windshield, so I’ll have to deal with that eventually.
