My Irish stew was good, but my Irish soda bread was fantastic. I have some of each left over, and in order to make this a vegetarian day I will hold off on eating the stew, but will certainly be having some of the bread.
I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was LUCKY. I know, stupid starting word, but I was hoping to have some of the luck of the Irish on my side today. Today’s word had me stumped for quite some time.
Out of coffee at the ITP Estate, so I am drinking tea with my breakfast of an egg over easy with a bagel.
Wordle in 4, starting with SATIN. And I had a perfectly good word, 4 out of 5, at 3!
40 minutes on the trainer last night. One of the canned Zwift workouts, 2×5 for 90 seconds with 30 seconds break. I rode a few weeks ago and when I finished, Zwift told me I had raised my FTP by 20 watts. Oh good, more effort!
I think the rain will really help with the pollen, but we expected some overnight and got nada. Hmmmm…
I’ve never been a fan of soda bread, and maybe I just haven’t had any that were good.

They probably put too much Coke in the ones you have eaten previously. LOL
Wordle in 6, which is appropriate since I started with AGONY. Mini in 42.
I had a pricey but amazing dinner at Bona Fide Deluxe on La France, in the area where the Edwards Pie factory used to be. I had a $19 roast beef sandwich that was so good. Stuart really liked the vegan bahn mi. We both liked the pickled beets. The IPA I had was good as well, although stiffly priced at $9. It was a $75 dinner for two with tip, which is nutty for sandwiches, but they really are that good. Great atmosphere too.
I do love a good sandwich, but DAMN!
Modern times. It was worth every penny though.
Aah, when you mentioned Edgewood I was thinking of the other one. While that sounds delicious it also sounds out of my budget.
I did buy in at the top of the menu, I think the sandwiches range between $12 and $19.
Welcome to the city!
Amen! Definitely not in Luthersville any more! 😉
Hey, wait a minute!!!!
Wordl in 4 using based. Just got back from Florida visiting mom. She turns 90 next year. She seemed to be doing okay. Still drives. Walks the dog everyday. Active at her church. It was too dang hot down there though. Your trip looks amazing Barb! I love to visit Arizona. Bring some pie home. lol. AJ’s Famous Seafood and PoBoys has closed their doors. Will miss that place. Guess they never recovered from losing their liquor license and staffing issues. Hate to see another small independent restaurant close down. Just another work day for me.
What part of Florida Sal? Glad your mother is doing okay.
She lives in Zephyrhills. Just NE of Tampa.
Home of the bottled water! 🙂
Yesterday we had the designer and contractor come to the house to do a walkthrough. Now they go home and come up with an estimate. I am very scared of the price tag of this. I know I’ll be happy when it’s done but all the work involved is intimidating.
Somehow I think it will cost more than a $19 roast beef sandwich. Just a wild ass guess. 😉 And I so hear you on all of the work involved. I’m doing my best to stay in place in my house and defer the updates that we’d need to make if we were going to sell it.
We toyed with the idea of buying a new house but ultimately decided against it. And once we made the decision to be here for probably another 10 years, we wanted to make it more comfortable. The house is fine, but there are dozens of little irritating things. Death of a thousand paper cuts.
Well, good for you to pull the trigger on that. As you said, it will be well worth it in the end. I use the term “death by 1,000 cuts” frequently in my training classes to describe how many people use Excel, meaning when you do *everything* slightly (or worse, not even slightly) inefficiently there’s a cumulative snowball effect of lost productivity and fatigue.
Hunh, I never thought about the snowball effect in Excel, but that’s totally right.
I have spent a completely unhealthy amount of time watching other people use Excel over the decades. 😉 Another phrase I use a lot is “Either you work Excel, or Excel works you!”
David Excel 100% works me. I fuddle through what I need to do all the time.
Bob, you’re not alone, not by a long shot!
I put out a request for tree work, and a company came out and gave an estimate without even knowing exactly what I want done. Their “lock in now” price was $2850. I’ll find someone else, especially since I have more pressing needs on which to spend my money.
Are you willing to say which company? That does sound like some fast and loose pricing, especially the sign right here, right now aspect.
They are called “ D P Landscaping & Tree Service”
I’m guessing D P stands for Dumb Pricing? 😉
Haha, could be. I’m sure their estimate was for much more work than I desire to be done. This is good as I am reconsidering the work since it is not something I need to happen soon, though it would be better for WLF if it were.
Do you have to get a permit from the city? Or are you outside the city limits?
I’m in the City limits, so a permit is needed to cut down trees of a certain diameter. I’m just looking to cut back one tree, and get rid of two holly bushes. I can, and may do the holly bushes myself now, but they are such an annoyance with their pointy leaves.
Wordle in 3 starting with SALET
My knee is really pissing me off. Counting the days until ortho visit next week.
I tromped around doing soil testing, cleaned out my dead tomato plants and repotted my ancient and sad Christmas cactus.
Unfortunately I’m behind the curve of getting fertilizer in a timely fashion, but I can at least get on the list once I know what we need. I’m determined to have decent grass this summer!!
Must have had a killer second guess.
I feel you on the knee, mine continue to bother me on and off. Unfortunately it’s been more on than off recently.
I’m trying to get rid of as much grass as I can. 🙂
It took me 18 years to get there, but I successfully rid myself of grass in my yard last fall.
Second word was broke. Lucky guess on 3 for sure.
Greetings from outside of Tombstone, AZ. Just finished. Tour of Kartchner Caverns, very cool. No cameras/phones allowed. So just gave to trust me.
This road we are driving on has a lot of cyclists, I guess there’s a bike tour group riding. Very boring terrain though.
Typing on my phone is hard.
Tucson wasn’t that exciting. So we have another haunted hotel in Bisbee booked for tonight.
No phones or cameras allowed?!?! Heresy!
I get that phones won’t work in a cave, but no cameras or no FLASH photography? Odd.
They are serious about keeping these caverns pristine.
We just abide by the rules. We can never wear the shoes we wore today into another cavern, or wear shoes that were in another cavern into this one.
Now drinking at a bar in Tombstone AZ.
Cave Cooties!! Funny.
Huh, not that I would disobey but how do they police that? Honor system? Soil samples?
