My Irish stew was good, but my Irish soda bread was fantastic. I have some of each left over, and in order to make this a vegetarian day I will hold off on eating the stew, but will certainly be having some of the bread.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was LUCKY. I know, stupid starting word, but I was hoping to have some of the luck of the Irish on my side today. Today’s word had me stumped for quite some time.

  1. Out of coffee at the ITP Estate, so I am drinking tea with my breakfast of an egg over easy with a bagel.

Wordle in 4, starting with SATIN. And I had a perfectly good word, 4 out of 5, at 3!

40 minutes on the trainer last night. One of the canned Zwift workouts, 2×5 for 90 seconds with 30 seconds break. I rode a few weeks ago and when I finished, Zwift told me I had raised my FTP by 20 watts. Oh good, more effort!

I think the rain will really help with the pollen, but we expected some overnight and got nada. Hmmmm…

I’ve never been a fan of soda bread, and maybe I just haven’t had any that were good.

Wordle in 6, which is appropriate since I started with AGONY. Mini in 42.

I had a pricey but amazing dinner at Bona Fide Deluxe on La France, in the area where the Edwards Pie factory used to be. I had a $19 roast beef sandwich that was so good. Stuart really liked the vegan bahn mi. We both liked the pickled beets. The IPA I had was good as well, although stiffly priced at $9. It was a $75 dinner for two with tip, which is nutty for sandwiches, but they really are that good. Great atmosphere too.

Wordl in 4 using based. Just got back from Florida visiting mom. She turns 90 next year. She seemed to be doing okay. Still drives. Walks the dog everyday. Active at her church. It was too dang hot down there though. Your trip looks amazing Barb! I love to visit Arizona. Bring some pie home. lol. AJ’s Famous Seafood and PoBoys has closed their doors. Will miss that place. Guess they never recovered from losing their liquor license and staffing issues. Hate to see another small independent restaurant close down. Just another work day for me.

Yesterday we had the designer and contractor come to the house to do a walkthrough. Now they go home and come up with an estimate. I am very scared of the price tag of this. I know I’ll be happy when it’s done but all the work involved is intimidating.

    • David says:

Somehow I think it will cost more than a $19 roast beef sandwich. Just a wild ass guess. 😉 And I so hear you on all of the work involved. I’m doing my best to stay in place in my house and defer the updates that we’d need to make if we were going to sell it.

      • Jenka says:

We toyed with the idea of buying a new house but ultimately decided against it. And once we made the decision to be here for probably another 10 years, we wanted to make it more comfortable. The house is fine, but there are dozens of little irritating things. Death of a thousand paper cuts.

        • David says:

Well, good for you to pull the trigger on that. As you said, it will be well worth it in the end. I use the term “death by 1,000 cuts” frequently in my training classes to describe how many people use Excel, meaning when you do *everything* slightly (or worse, not even slightly) inefficiently there’s a cumulative snowball effect of lost productivity and fatigue.

          • Jenka says:

Hunh, I never thought about the snowball effect in Excel, but that’s totally right.

          • David says:

I have spent a completely unhealthy amount of time watching other people use Excel over the decades. 😉 Another phrase I use a lot is “Either you work Excel, or Excel works you!”

          • Bob says:

David Excel 100% works me. I fuddle through what I need to do all the time.

          • David says:

Bob, you’re not alone, not by a long shot!

    • I put out a request for tree work, and a company came out and gave an estimate without even knowing exactly what I want done. Their “lock in now” price was $2850. I’ll find someone else, especially since I have more pressing needs on which to spend my money.

      • David says:

Are you willing to say which company? That does sound like some fast and loose pricing, especially the sign right here, right now aspect.

Wordle in 3 starting with SALET

My knee is really pissing me off. Counting the days until ortho visit next week.

I tromped around doing soil testing, cleaned out my dead tomato plants and repotted my ancient and sad Christmas cactus.

Unfortunately I’m behind the curve of getting fertilizer in a timely fashion, but I can at least get on the list once I know what we need. I’m determined to have decent grass this summer!!

    • Must have had a killer second guess.

I feel you on the knee, mine continue to bother me on and off. Unfortunately it’s been more on than off recently.

I’m trying to get rid of as much grass as I can. 🙂

Greetings from outside of Tombstone, AZ. Just finished. Tour of Kartchner Caverns, very cool. No cameras/phones allowed. So just gave to trust me.
This road we are driving on has a lot of cyclists, I guess there’s a bike tour group riding. Very boring terrain though.
Typing on my phone is hard.
Tucson wasn’t that exciting. So we have another haunted hotel in Bisbee booked for tonight.
