February 14th. The day seems familiar, like something should be happening today, but I have no idea why.

I spent a good day in WLF yesterday, actually accomplishing a couple of chores that have been on my To Do list for awhile. I’m going to give my plot leveling another go today.

I solved today’s Wordle in two attempts; my starter today was STOIC

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 194.0 pounds (+1.8 from last week’s weigh-in); not great, but not too disappointing.

Wordle in 4. 2 is amazing- well done.

A ride on the CX of about 16. Coughing on occasion, but helped overall. I could certainly tell my breathing has been off. The local redneck population seemed to have found one of my regular unpaved routes and made it almost impassable- certainly unrideable. A bit of hike a bike for about 50 yards at the bottom of a hill.

We lost power for a while through the night- no explainable reason.

it was such a nice afternoon, I decided I was done working around 4pm – so we went out on a walk. Down to Truist to the get some cash, stopped at Microcenter to look at a couple things (didn’t buy anything) and a convenience store for a lottery ticket. ($2 – if you don’t play, you can’t win – right?). Ended up being 5 miles.

Boring day besides that – made some spaghetti for dinner – I’d been wanting some red sauce pasta for a few days. Made enough sauce (of course) I now need to get some ricotta & fresh ravioli and make some lasagna for another dinner. I started using ravioli for the pasta – saves the step of boiling lasagna noodles.

    • Jenka says:

You never have to boil lasagna noodles anyway. I never do! This reminds me that I haven’t made lasagna in a while, gotta do that.

I can’t believe Micro Center still lives on, given the demise of Circuit City and their ilk.

      • HamWithCam says:

        Really?
Have you been in a Micro Center lately?

Micro Center is my go-to place for PC pieces and parts, storage, memory, cables, 3D printing filament, high-res monitors, networking bits, etc. They even have a surprisingly well-stocked DIY hobbyist section, electronic components, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, tools, etc.

I find Micro Center prices as good or better than online alternatives. And Micro Center will match prices.

Of course, you can get anything Micro Center has online.
And save the gas, time and trouble.

I kind of like having Micro Center around.

It’s always busy every time I go there. I need lots of help when it comes to electronics & it’s hard to find an available employee to help me. They do seem to have everything on stock.
Also- I think their repair department makes a ton of money.

        • David says:

I wasn’t being critical, I’m just amazed they’re still around. I haven’t been in there in at least 20 years.

The Sarah Silverman show on Friday was excellent; very funny, and thankfully short. I was home before 10. We did nothing the rest of the weekend except Finn’s swim lesson Sunday morning followed by breakfast at the Majestic, our every other Sunday tradition.

Kudos on Wordle in 2. I went down in flames starting with HEART. I had 3 correct letters in 3, and 4 correct letters in four. And so commenced another round of Wordle roulette. My fail came down to a coin toss that I lost between two letters.

I am at Discount Tire again getting new tires put on the car that my “wife” drives. Doing my best to navigate this divorce by killing with kindness.

I am grateful to be alone this Valentine’s Day. With every day that passes I’m realizing that what I need most is space, and so I’m going to push any dating plans I was contemplating off into the future.

    • Barb says:

Killing her with kindness – you are playing the game correctly.

We don’t play the Valentine’s Day game – but since Allan is at a firestation 100% alone (the engine is broken, so that crew gets farmed out to other stations) I thought I’d go down there & have dinner with him.

  5. Calling “good enough” for my new raised bed plot. Out soaking up the sun with a small fire smoldering and a couple buckets of wood chips ground up from sticks lying about WLF.

  6. Barb says:

Back from the periodontist – just a cleaning this time – ($185 for those playing at home, we will see what if any the insurance will pay).
He found a “new” thing today – the way my front teeth hit together is causing my upper front teeth to be a little loose. My lower teeth have been shifting over the years – I guess 40 years after braces its not unexpected for this sort of thing. He wants me to come back & file down something to make it better. Shouldn’t cost too much (we will see).

    • David says:

I got defanged by the dentist yesterday. He smoothed off some rough edges and leveled some things out. It was $430, so not terrible. I have a periodontist on my horizon to see about a gum graft.

      • Barb says:

if you want to come up to the Galleria area (aka, the Braves stadium area) Periodontal Specialists of Vinings – Dr Husam Bezreh – I really like this office.

        • David says:

Thank you! My dentist has a periodontist that he likes, and he turned me on to a rock star orthodontist, so I’m going to stick with his picks, but I’ll keep your guy in mind if I need a second opinion or something.

          • Barb says:

Most dentists have Periodontists they work with. My previous one was out by Six Flags, I really liked her, but too far to drive. So I got another recommendation for the most recent fun.

  7. Just finished eating lunch outside by the fire pit. You know the weather is nice when you are a couple of lizards come out to bask in the sun for a few seconds.

  8. David says:

Expensive day but at least Discount Tire eased the pain by getting me out in 30 minutes. I’m awaiting my order at Emerald City. It’s so nice to be able to eat bagels again! And then I need to get to work to cover all that I’ve spent today which included stops at Trader Joe’s and Target. I also had to try three times and two credit cards to pump gas at the shit-ass gas stations in East Atlanta (yes, I had to go to 2 stations). It’s been one of those snakebit days.

    • David says:

There’s nothing like having the door knob to your office go flying into the yard when you go to open the door. Snakebit day indeed.

    • steve says:

I stopped last week at the Pilot at our exit, as I was basically on fumes. Their pumps were all on the fritz and you had to go inside, leave a card or pay cash, and then would have had to go back inside to retrieve my card. No thanks. down the street 8 miles to our neighborhood gas station where I pay a little more and support a local merchant.

    • Bummer. And I almost went to Emerald City today too.

      • Barb says:

finally did Wordle – got it in 4 – you are a better 2nd line guesser than me

      • David says:

Things were crumbling left and right today, such as a SQL query that I last edited several years ago that had somehow attached an extra table that caused it not to work right. Talk about an unexpected pop quiz. I got to the bottom of it though.

I inhaled my Emerald City bagel. I was frustrated that they knew I was waiting, and then left my order on the to go table without telling me, but when I realized I’d been waiting too long I looked and grabbed my order and went on my way. The bagel was so good it didn’t matter in the end. Everything bagel with bacon and cheddar cheese, with mayo. Toasted. It was SO GOOD.

  9. Many hours of yard work today did not impress my Apple Watch, so I went out for a nearly-three-mile walk. Along the way I saw someone lose a large heart-shaped Mylar balloon and it went aloft into the sky, sorry universe.

Thought about celebrating another solo V Day (twenty in a row?) with a beer, but Sabbath Brewing wasn’t opened yet, and Midway is closed for renovations until Thursday.

Sonnabitch, my power just flickered. This happened a lot on Saturday night when it was windy, but there is no reason for it now!
