Tough bike ride last night, I didn’t have the pedal power I was hoping I would have. Oh well, at least I did it. Still trying to work on reducing the amount of calories that enters my piehole.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was TREND

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 28 seconds.

    Heardle fail.

    • Barb says:

Wordle is 4!!! (using PAulie’s word of course)
Not my day for the Mini – 1:43
      Heardle – Fail
60s -recognize the song -no idea the name or artist
70s – somedays I think, how do I not know this one?
80s#1 – needed the words – knew the music, but – what the hell is it????
90s – I really thought that song was older than 1990

      • I could have had it in four but I chickened out and didn’t go for it.

        60s: first second
70s: knew artist, couldn’t think of song until third second
        90s: first second
        00s: fail

  2. Apple event at 1pm EDT. I believe Apple will be announcing my future iPhone.

  3. Tonight’s dinner with Betsy is fish and chips while we watch Jaws. Interestingly and independently the news the last few days has had shark-related stories.

  4. Steve says:

Fish and Chips while watching “Jaws”… I just laughed out loud.

Wordle in 5, and I was about to be pissed. I had all but the 3rd and 4th letters and took way too long to solve it. Mini in just over a minute.

I sent a note to the cardiologist reporting my weekend activities and got a note back saying “no serious exercise for 4 weeks.” Oops.. I read it after another half hour on the trainer.

I haven’t checked today but I assume Primoz started todays stage. It seemed he got hooked and went down in a flash- there was never a good camera angle. And anyone saying the leader faked his flat tire is full of it. Did he ride it past the 3km line, very possibly, but that’s just using the rules to your advantage.

What we didn’t do this past weekend was make the trip to Nashville to drop Ceili at the sale barn. Debbie remembered thee was an event happening at Chatt Hills and pinged the woman that runs the sale barn. She looked at the entry list and found someone she knows. We passed Ceili to him (I think it was a young man) and gave him $200 for his trouble. Delivered by dinnertime Sunday. So long, and be a good girl.

    -FP

    • Steve says:

      Well, F! Primoz has abandoned.

      • I just got home from another semi-successful Kroger run at ERD and turned on la Vuelta. I was just about to post that Primoz has abandoned. To be fair, that was a heavy fall he took and I was wondering if he was concussed as he rolled over the finish line.

    • David says:

I was wondering about how quickly you got back to full speed on the exercise front. I took it as a great sign that you felt good enough to jump back in immediately.

  5. Barb says:

Finished off Ted Lasso last night (finally found a friend willing to loan out their Apple TV login. I thought there were more seasons than just 2. Good show, and Allan hates getting on the bandwagon with popular shows – but – it was very entertaining.
Might have to go back to watching Brockmire – it another similar genre type of sports show.

  6. My trips to Kroger have been spurred on by an attempt to buy Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic IPA to use a $2 coupon, and to have some non-alcoholic beer on hand. The few Kroger stores which carry it, have been out of stock.

I did buy a six pack of Lagunitas IPNA and was somewhat surprised to have to show ID in order to buy non-alcoholic beer.

I was also looking to pick up a gallon of Arizona tea for free using a coupon, but the only bottle in the store today looked sketchy and had a sticky bottom; I passed.

    • David says:

There’s still a tiny bit of alcohol in NA beer snd wine, they don’t get it to zero. Same as decaf coffee still has some caffeine, not much, but some.

  7. David says:

Greetings from Marietta, I get new x-rays today of my arm. A consulting client in Acworth from back in the day is having an issue I’ll pop in and help her with. Extremely fortuitous timing on her part, I told her she should buy a lottery ticket today.

I released the Windows version of the training video I’ve been producing this morning, the Mac version will go live by this evening. A couple more days to finish up the other book then there will he a massive sigh of relief.

Wordle in 5 starting with Gravy. Mini in 43, I’ll take that.

    Heardles:
    60’s: one second
70’s: two seconds to disambiguate from Sha Na Na.
80’s # 1s: 10 seconds to identify that groaner of a couples’ skate song
    80s: fail
    90s: fail
    00s: 1 second
    Heardle: fail

Regarding the late post yesterday regarding traveling this fall instead of getting bug bitten and frustrated by seeds that won’t grow and worms that eat what does grow, I would totally go that route if I were an early retiree.

Products with sticky bottoms are very much on brand for Kroger.

    • Temporary retiree.

      Lol about Kroger.

    • Barb says:

I like the travel idea too – where are you thinking about going?

      • I already have a trip to New Orleans booked in October. I am also considering visiting Nashville, Asheville, and potentially further away like Chicago or even Wisconsin. The problem with going north at this time of year (as in the next four months) is the weather — I don’t like cold weather.

There is also talk of a weekend in exciting Columbia, SC in October.

        • Steve says:

          Living the dream.

Amtrak goes to New Orleans, since you have time.

Nashville, Asheville… Greenville? Louisville? Gainesville? Jacksonville? (somehow I’m hearing Johnny Cash’s “I’ve been everywhere” in my head)

  8. Jeez, got shut out of a Curion paid survey for September 26th before I could even take the questionnaire. Oh well, better to get bumped then instead of afterwards I suppose.

  9. David says:

My orthopedist is impressed with my recovery. He said I have a lot more range of motion than most people that have an injury like mine do. He’s also getting less and less concerned that the bone could collapse and warrant shoulder replacement. I’m not completely out of the woods on that front, but usually by now I’d be having issues that would point to that, instead of away from it. I go back in 3 months for more xrays, but I’m cleared to do anything I want, which I had already assumed.

    • Barb says:

next time you have to come up here to Marietta, we could meet up for lunch?

      • David says:

Yes! Let’s do that. It’ll probably be in December. I’ll let you know. I ended up with a doctor in Marietta because that’s where the 24 hour orthopedic urgent care center is, and I wanted to be seen the next day after breaking my arm. It all worked out, this doctor did some excellent work.

    • Steve says:

Great news.. just stay off your mountain bike!

      • David says:

No worries there! It was REI’s bike that I crashed. I’m sure the bike didn’t even get scratched. I had been on the fence for years about whether to get a mountain bike or not, so I signed up for a class. I have been there, done that on mountain biking. At least I tried it. I’m sticking with my road bike. As I tell my orthopedist, I know how to fall on that bike! 🙂 He told me that in spite of the number of people he sees that get hurt on mountain bikes that he still rides his occasionally because it’s so fun. I’ll take his word for it, I’m road only from here on out. No clips for me, either. I was almost getting to the point of trying clipless when I broke my arm. I’m taking those 50/50 pedals off of my bike that are clipless on one side and flat on the other and just sticking with flats. I really got lucky recovering from shattering the bone and I don’t need to press my luck unnecessarily.

        • Barb says:

I like my clips on the road bike for better power, and on my mtn bike because other wise my shins would be beat up!

          • David says:

I get it, that ship has just sailed for me, and I’m OK with it. I do fine without clipping in. I have some biking shoes that have a firm sole that make a big difference.

  10. Apple has spent forty minutes talking about the next Apple Watches.
