Funny (to me) story: last night I listened to an interview with Kevin Bacon. The interview talked about his movie They/Them. This is the movie which was being filmed at Hard Labor State Park when I spent a night over there last October. It’s a horror movie, so I will never watch it.

Huh, I was contemplating doing another Weeds and Wine volunteering with Trees Atlanta, but it appears that all shifts in August are already full. Oh well.

Wordle in 6 (MF!) Mini in 4 and had to ask for help. I knew there was a word for a birth assistant, but couldn’t remember it.
I actually experienced rush hour traffic yesterday, which really was a first in a very long time.
Instead of a ride last night, I decided to try a run. Try being the operative word, it was mostly a pretty fast walk with periods of running. Oh well, a start I guess.
Vin Scully has passed. As a fan of the game (not the Braves), his announcing was always a pleasure to listen to. Actually made me a bit of a Dodgers fan. Rest in peace, sir.

Went to Panera for lunch yesterday – I was in the mood for broccoli cheese for some unknown reason. And – they were out of it! And – that place is damn expensive – almost $30 for 2 of us. But – their food is pretty good.
I spent a couple summers in Charleston when I was in the Navy back in the 80s. Now THAT was humid. I guess the silver lining is Atlanta humidity doesn’t tend to faze me.
Holy Humidity Batman. I had to come back inside because my shirt was soaked, oh, and also because Owlie returned to WLF this morning and I didn’t want to be attacked.
In the very near future AARP will have spent more money generating and mailing me crap I don’t want than I have paid to them in membership dues.
I have no idea how I have stayed off of AARP’s radar. I have yet to get a single piece of mail from them. Is there a point to participating?
At some point I am hoping there are discounts which make the membership worthwhile. As of yet, nothing for me however.

David- I rarely get any junk mail from AARP as well, but I never joined it.
I do get enough from the VFW & those veteran organizations, but its starting to taper off finally. My phone call asking them to stop may have finally helped.
Despite my EXTREME youth, I am a member of AARP because of Kevin. Ask me how many times I have made use of their discounts. Not a single time! Complete waste, in my opinion.
The good thing is that if I don’t use their services, I can refuse to renew my membership next year.

Headed to way upstate New York tomorrow for my father in law’s funeral. He died in March so it’s more like a “celebration of life.” But the family drama…
Ugh, my condolences, both on your father-in-law passing, and the family drama. A silver lining of estrangement is avoiding all of that. It sure wasn’t pretty getting here though.
Thanks. We when first got together I jumped right into the family drama but now I try to stay out of it as much as possible. There are 5 siblings and they’re Irish, so there’s a lot.

AARP reached out to me when I was 49 which I thought was rude. I’ve never bit, but my mom and dad got some great discounts from their membership with their RV sites. I’ve been looking at RVs because I’d love for us to relocate for the summer months, but it’s darned expensive. $50+ a night for a site adds up quick!
I skipped our Gobble shipment for this week, so one of us is going to have to breakdown and go to the grocery store. Not my favorite chore.
It sure does add up. I also want to know why camping sites in state parks are so (relatively) expensive.
When you break down the cost of running a campground it makes more sense. Constant upkeep from idiots breaking stuff, maintaining the power and water supply to the property, keeping bath houses clean, maintaining landscaping, etc. Lots of ways to spend money.
Lots of options on the road Debbie. Harvest host is a subscription model where you pay a small annual fee and places like farms, wineries, etc. allow you to stay. Hundreds of locations there. Another is Boondockers welcome where they have thousands of free sites. I think the VFW allows overnight RV parking too. Tons of options where you don’t have to pay a lot per night.
I do get pop ups from Harvest Hosts on FB. That’s an interesting concept. My M&D would just Winter at a spot- Homestead, FL, Brownsville TX, and a few others. No idea, but they would pay monthly, so it had to be cheaper, and these places cater to long term snowbirds.
Having a beer before my Apple Store appointment. I have been a true Davey Disciple today, eating a “free“ (I had to pay for a drink and a tip) lunch at Tin Drum, and now at Iron Hill Brewery in Buckhead. Both of these are on Upside and Dosh, so I will be getting discounts. BTW, if you wish to join either of these services, let me know so I can give you a referral code.
