Since I am ignoring any of the issues the massive amount of rain yesterday caused, it was a decent day. The unofficial rain amount to hit WLF was 4″, at least that’s how much water was in the rain gauge when I finally made it outside late in the afternoon.

Because of the weather I also managed to get down into the basement and put in a strenuous 45 minutes on the trainer. To pass the time I watched an episode of “The Great Kiwi Bake Off” on YouTube. Yes, it’s “The Great British Bake Off”, done in New Zealand.

I feel guilty killing slugs, after all I am not killing the squirrels who are also doing the same thing. That being said, I did find two slugs munching some plants and decided that their time had come.

I should not have been so surprised when I arrived at the ghetto laundromat at 5:30am this morning since there were many more people there than in trips past. Friday? New Year’s Eve? Who knows…

After laundry I will make a quick run across Moreland to Kroger before heading home for a day of chores.

This weekend is up in the air thanks to Cheddarhead’s cancellation. Sunday is a hashing day, by the lowering of temperatures is lowering my enthusiasm for being outside. [edit: just looked at the forecast and the weather on Sunday is looking less dire.] I will most likely be there however, as I March toward my 200th Black Sheep in 2022.

Hope you are having a great week. If you go out tonight be safe.

See you in 2022.

  1. I can’t believe that it’s still “fashionable” to wear your pants so that your underwear shows. #OldWhiteGuyThought

  2. 7:45am and laundry is done (but not put away), Kroger run done (not surprisingly one of the two things I was there to buy was out of stock), and I am home getting ready to eat breakfast. Woot!

Despite the presence of a dry-ish space in the barn, the horses stood in the rain most of the afternoon yesterday. It came down quite hard at time, but I don’t think we got your 4″.

I did a little work through the day and watched a little football while doing so. Tennessee came close to beating Purdue. I didn’t have a dog in the fight, but it was one of the better games I had watched. I love the railroad tracks on the Purdue helmets- they are, after all the “Boilermakers”… boilers being needed for steam locomotives.

No plans for tonight. I think it will be take-out sushi served on our new sushi service for dinner. We might watch that Georgia game tonight. I WILL be watching the Alabama game this afternoon.

2021 has certainly been a roller coaster year. While I’m not sure what “normal” looks like anymore, let’s hope we return to some resemblance.

A very happy new year, friends.

    • I will be avoiding all football games today, mostly because I am not a fan of any of the teams playing. Further, I don’t believe teams that didn’t win their conference should t be in the running to be National Champions. My two cents.

      • Steve says:

I don’t disagree, but until there is consistency in the various conferences, there has to be some discretion in the selection. Comparing the winner of the SEC to one of the other “minor” conferences isn’t adequate.

The final 3 games- today’s semi and the final represent the best. Putting 2 SEC schools into the finals is unfortunate, but not unreasonable considering the strength of the SEC.

        • I contend there will never be a fair way to decide, and that the concept of a National Champion should be abolished. Teams should play to win their conference, and then good teams should play one another in “bowl” games to make more money for the schools at the expense of their athletes. I know that is a heretical thought, but it’s what I believe.

Unless I can convince the husband to eschew some chores, I doubt we will leave the house today except to pick up some sushi from Kroger later on. NYE will be spent at home and likely watching a couple episodes of Cobra Kai S4. I will very likely miss my bowl game tomorrow (Fiesta Bowl) but we plan to try and watch it on YouTube or something on the 3rd. So shhhhhhh!

Slept in my own bed last night. Soooooo nice. Flight was slightly delayed, since the flight leaving Atlanta to CR was delayed. Good visit, didn’t get too much done, just mainly hung out with the parents.

If the weather cooperates we may go to Sope Creek this afternoon, Sal hosts a run/walk/hike social gathering. Other then that, not sure what the weekend will entail. Maybe we will go bowling…..
With so many Black Sheep people rumored to have Covid, Sunday should be interesting.

    • Since I am not in the BS FB loop I have little idea who has the virus, other than a name or two dropped around the beer table at Christmas. Not that I am asking for people to be outed here, I am just saying…

Hell, I don’t even know if a start has been posted since it’s not on BSH3’s nor AH4’s website.

  6. Went outside to “defend the farm” by chasing off another squirrel (for now), and killing a slug on one of my greens.

  7. Barb says:

Thinking we will grill some brats tomorrow- no Cheddarhead but we can still play the game. Maybe bowling too?

  8. Bonnie says:

Most of you have probably already registered, but today is the last day for discounted BRAG Spring Tune Up reg fees. https://www.brag.org/stu/register/

  9. Bonnie says:

Remember to make any last-minute 2021 charitable donations today!

  10. Steve says:

Well, I thought Debbie had been feeling better, but she woke up this morning feeling like crap. Able to breath and no fever to speak of, but muscle sore…

    Foo.

  11. I finally got around to debugging the DVD player setup in the den and turned out to be — user error! I kept trying to change the Scene on the stereo receiver thinking that was also changing the HDMI input, but alas it was not. I might have to load up a movie to watch tonight in celebration!

  12. While not as strenuous as the past two days, but I just finished 45 minutes on the trainer.
