Last month of 2021…

Did you know that yesterday was Giving Tuesday in Georgia? If not you must have never donated money to any non-profit since I received about fifty emails reminding me of the event from all of the organizations to whom I have donated money over the past twenty years. It seems to me the organizers of Giving Tuesday have fucked up since it makes more sense to me to ask for money prior to people spending their life savings during Black Friday through Cyber Monday shopping for “bargains”. But what do I know, right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yesterday was a busy day. I’d say it was a super busy day if not for the fact that the word “super” is used so much these days that it has lost any impactful meaning. My morning and afternoon hours were spent driving around picking up some purchases, walking to my polling place to vote, unpacking my purchases from the M6, and then doing some branch cutting with my Wee Little Chainsaw. The branches I cut will be used soon and future in backyard fires. I also replanted a rosemary bush in a large grow bag and moved it to the front of my house. Let see how long it lasts there before some shithead steals it…

I wasn’t really creative when it came to making dinner plans yesterday, so I ate some of the hard boiled eggs that I had in my refrigerator.

No time was spent on the trainer, shame on me. I did allow myself to watch the final of “The Great British Bake Off” however.

Today will be a less busy day than my Monday and Tuesday were. I’ve already made a quick run to Kroger hoping that they’d have my favorite bottled tea for which I have a coupon to receive a gallon for free, but no, for the second time in as many days I was stymied. I did cash in on some more expiring coupons, so I once again have a cram-packed freezer. I plan to putter around WLF for awhile this morning, and then spend a few hours working on code. It’s my turn to cook for Top Chef night with Betsy, so I need to sort out what I plan to bring with me; the leading candidate for dinner is currently chili.

Hope you all are remaining healthy and happy.

I hope you were somewhere this morning that you could see the sun coming up. While I don’t have a good view to the east, the colors in the sky were SUPER!

We got the bid from the tree service. They didn’t break it down, but between the small leaner and the XL dead tree- $3500! I might have to think about that…

My 4:45 booster appointment at the Kroger was OK. Something about waiting in line at the pharmacy in a grocery store still doesn’t feel… sterile, like real health care, something… so far only a sore arm. Nothing has shriveled up and dropped off, yet.

And how did the job interviews go? Some big company is moving into Tech Square- GPB reported it yesterday (sorry, I didn’t catch the name).

I hope to never again own a tree. Oh wait, I do own one (that I didn’t when I moved in). Since inception, the HOA always thought they owned the trees and therefore maintained them, but after a turn of events it turned out the city owns them and now I have to maintain the fucker.

    • Bonnie says:

I won’t even tell you about my Wal-Mart experience—the least sterile, accurate and “real health care” experience to date. By far.

    • Missed sunrise.

Ouch on the tree. I don’t recall what I paid at the beginning of the year, somewhere around $2k. It was back when I was earning money, so it was (only a little) easier to swallow then.

I’ve not been interviewing. Perhaps that question is for Barb?

Colder weather has brought with it a beautiful red color on the leaves of my Japanese maple; photo in tomorrow’s blog post.

Looks like Hootsuite is moving into Tech Square.

    3rd try…
I’m not feeling so “dilly” (good/great, peppy, etc) this morning (after the Moderna Booster yesterday). Achy (joints), generally blah. Arm slightly sore. Zero issues post-Moderna #1 and #2. Spouse Jan has nothing this morning (or post 1/2). BTW: Congrats to Atlanta’s Mayor-Elect. Tech Man. FYI, Ivan Allen, Jr. (who?) was a Tech Man. (So was Bobby Jones.) 73 de JG/HamWithCam

    • Sorry you are less dilly.

My vote didn’t help apparently. I am not a fan of Dickens because he campaigned on adding more cameras, license plate readers, yada yada yada to “increase safety”. I am no Luddite, but I find all of this added surveillance equipment to be invasive, bothersome, a waste of tax dollars, and more than anything else, ineffective.

      • Steve says:

Big brother is watching.. whether it can help with crime is a whole other matter.

HwC, sorry you’re not feeling peppy! Maybe you need some OK Cafe therapy?

      • Barb says:

Allan said…. Just look at who the police & fire endorse, and the other person will win. He made me laugh.

Steve- the tree next to my garage (on neighbors property) was going to be $4000. We opted for $800 to trim the biggest branches hanging over our garage. Tree work is pricy!

1st interview was for a job basically the same as my old job. But, fully remote. Do I want to go back to the same old thing? That’s the question.
2nd interview went well, I think I’ll get a face to face interview early next week. That’s the Roswell commute. Do I want to drive? That’s the issue.
Need to push off the 1st guy, I’m 99% sure I’ll get an offer from them.

    • Steve says:

Hell being popular! Good luck and I hope they pay you what you’re worth (priceless to us, of course!)

I figured the tree work was going to be pricey. They didn’t specify taking away logs or that sort of thing, so still not clear what’s involved.
