Ah Big City Life… of course on the day I couldn’t collect my mail some shitheads allegedly committed a Federal offense by stealing mail. According to the (not always accurate) USPS I was supposed to get a credit card offer (more on these in a second) and something from Piedmont (either hospital or orthopedic). However when Bonnie checked on the ITP Estate she found my mailbox open (apparently so were some of my neighbors’ boxes as well), my mail on the ground, and neither of the two aforementioned pieces of mail among the remaining pieces. 🤬
So, on top of everything else I have to do this week I now need to learn about potential identity theft, and how I can stop it. 🤬🤬🤬 I am also going to try to put a stop to being mailed credit card offers since all I do is shred them.
Now onto the better part of the weekend. I had a lovely time hanging with the Raleigh Royalty. On Friday night we found a nearby beer garden that had an artisanal pizza food truck. The weather was perfect as we sat outside consuming beer, and then pizza. On Saturday we did a four-mile hike in a state park before stopping at a brewery on the way back to the campground. On Saturday evening we sat around a small fire and ate s’mores. And yesterday was getaway day, so we didn’t have enough time to do more than eat breakfast and pack up to leave.
Since I was driving past Cumming on my way home I considered stopping by the hash, but since I heard this trail was A-to-B I didn’t know where to go, soI drove directly home instead. Upon arriving home I assessed the squirrel damage to WLF 🤬, and realized that I may have killed some of the plants in my little greenhouse because of the heat and lack of water. 🤦ðŸ»â€â™‚ï¸
Yeah, I’m laying trail tonight; it’s going to be a shitshow.
Hope you had a happy and healthy weekend.
Little bummed that I wasn’t better prepared for the heavy rain overnight, so I didn’t have some of my water catchment containers in place. Poop.
I am hoping that last night’s rain is the worst that Mother Nature has in store for today. Even if my trail tonight is the worst in Monday Night history, it will be over and done with tomorrow.
Some of my squash plants seem to have split stems. The Internet blames squash vine borers, more caterpillars. How does anyone produce food without spraying chemicals given the amount of things that fight hard to kill it all?
I normally try to avoid panic buying, but a coworker posted a link to this BBC News article about the cyberattack on the gas pipeline in which it states that Atlanta may be one of the first areas to be impacted,
I went to Kroger and filled up. I was also at less than a quarter of a tank after this weekend’s excursion, and found that gas prices have gone up about $0.16/gal since last Friday.
Sorry about your mailbox. Another thing I don’t really worry about living in the country. And our credit has been monitored ever since the Fed’s retirement system had a breech.
Some motorcycling Saturday after sitting on a call for 6 hours. Should have been 3 hours, except our tech in Miami couldn’t figure out the new equipment. Thought about going to the tornado relief party in Newnan or some friends were playing music at a restaurant in PTC and passed on both. Completely forgot about a Games tailgate Saturday evening which we would have gone to. Never got a reminder email, so wiff….
Sunday was breakfast in bed for Debbie and some Giro for me. A short bicycle ride in very windy conditions (!!) and more silt fence.
Glad you camping was fun.

How are you watching the Giro, GCN? I signed up for their streaming but can’t believe they only have an iPhone app, and no iPad or AppleTV apps. I suppose I can watch it in a browser?
I loaded the app onto my ipad and it works OK. I initially tried to watch in the browser, but it never worked quite right. What I forgot when I signed up for the service is they also support Firestick and once I loaded it there, I stream it right to the TV.
Wow. Disc brakes just saved this guy from a bad crash on a descent. He managed to get stopped before going completely over the edge.
In this day and age I refuse to use iPhone-specific apps blown up on an iPad.
GCN+ is not sufficient to watch the Giro? That’s what the website is telling me. Ugh, there were two buttons for the Giro, I clicked the wrong one.
Wait, now it’s telling me that I am not subscribed? SO FUCKING ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it works on my iPhone, the smallest screen on which I can watch it in my office.
WTF, GCN?
I had a fun weekend, even without my hashing buddy WLB. I snagged a ride with Aw Burned Out to the Rome, GA hash (first timer!) that took place in Cedartown. It was hared by Black Sheepers and there were more of us than Romans but I met a few new peeps. Lawn Cut Dong was kind enough to pick me up for Black Sheep yesterday where a rare A-B hash ended at Banana Licker’s house on Lake Lanier. Some people swam across a small cove to his dock but I chose to ride in the boat because it’s just too cold for the lake yet. Hell, my supposedly (🤔) heated HOA pool is too cold right now. I am looking forward to WLB’s hash tonight even though I’m tired, fat and sluggish from eating out at restaurants both weekend nights since the folks I rode with most always go to the hash on-afters. And they did. ðŸ˜
HOW DARE YOU HAVE HASH FUN WITHOUT ME! 😂 Sounds like I missed at least one good trail.
And thanks again for swinging by and checking on the ITP Estate.
The whole credit card game annoys me. I was trying to get a credit report and Equifax couldn’t verify me, so I went to Experian. Experian wanted to know what my car loan payment was, but since I paid the car off two years ago I haven’t felt compelled to remember how much I was paying and therefore I couldn’t answer them; therefore they wouldn’t set up my account. So, I called Experian but of course could not get to talk to a human. 😡
But are you really you? That sort of security always cracks me up.
I’m really angry today. I need to figure out how to change that.
NOPE I CONTINUE TO BE ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Putting myself in time out until after lunch.
A hot and hilly 50 miles to/from Arabia Mountain yesterday afternoon. Bodacious leg cramps in both calves at separate times 45 miles into the ride. From what I can tell it may have been triggered by me not being acclimated to the heat yet, and possibly some some slight dehydration. I had two water bottles and 2 Powerades that I went through, but the water bottles that came with the new bike are on the small side, I need to get some bigger ones. An epsom salt bath worked to calm the leg muscles down yesterday evening.
Windy AF yesterday. Good on you for 50. I suffered through a dozen, some on gravel. It was certainly warm yesterday, which certainly would explain your cramps.
This was my third weekend in a row with a 50 mile ride, so I don’t think it’s overexertion. I was riding 500 miles a month last summer and didn’t experience any cramps. I do have 161 miles in this month so far, so I’m on my way to working back up to 500 miles/month for the summer months.
Gravel definitely slows things down, and so gravel and wind definitely sounds like a tricky combination.
😮
Great finish at the Giro… I don’t know if he was in the original break, but he held off the thundering herd and won with a whole 5 seconds to spare. His reaction is priceless.
Hi from AZ!
Spent the weekend in Chandler with my sister, had a blast out on a boat on Saguaro Lake with some of her friends.
Yesterday just a nice lunch at a brewery where my niece works.
Now on a awesome highway out in the dessert – heading to Winslow, AZ.
Fun fact: I lived in Winslow for 3 months.
Still working on my attitude adjustment.
Just made lunch, udon noodle soup with the addition of homegrown baby bok choy. ðŸ˜
😋
You almost had me showing up at the hash. There is a problem I need to go fix, but it can wait until tomorrow. Lucky me, but I miss your hash.
Barb, the pics are great- even the one of Allan’s splash! Have fun.
This Hwy 87 is an awesome drive. Went from the desert & tons of cactus to up above 5000 ft & trees. Everywhere
I wonder if I took the same route when I drove to Winslow. I remember feeling amazed at the change of flora.
Flickr tells me that I was in Arizona in May, 2007. Wow, time flies.
Did you go from Phoenix? It’s the most direct route.
There are never clouds out here.
From either Phoenix or Tempe. I flew in/out of Phoenix but I can’t remember if I went to Tempe at the beginning or end of my trip — I’m guessing beginning.
Why remember when I can use my blog as my memory…
Well that was interesting reading.
I certainly didn’t remember all of that, and I did it! 🙄😂
Wow! Back when the blog was a blog!! And back when Betsy would comment… those were the days.
Winslow, AZ owes the Eagles forever. A ton of people stopping & taking pictures. (& probably buying souvenirs at the 2 corner stores)
As I recall, that corner was the only thing poor Winslow had going for it…
