Yesterday was another good day to get Vitamin D, as well as pull roots. I spent some time during the afternoon outside doing both. I even started pulling some of the English ivy in the area that runs next to the ITP Estate’s driveway since that may be the future home of the berry plants that I planted into IKEA bags this week.
I signed up for GCN+ yesterday to watch cycling. I may have wasted $25 because I did so before I realized that GCN’s iOS app is an iPhone-only app. What the fuck?!?! This is 2021, not 2011! Hopefully when I have a new TV I can AirPlay large, HD-quality video to its screen. Until then I hope that I can watch video on my computer since I am not about to watch bicycle racing on my iPhone.
Sometimes “Siri” should be called “Shitty”. Last night I asked Siri a question that I thought could be answered easily — “Siri, what year was the iPad released?” Siri’s response — “A visit to Apple.com should be able to help you with that.” No fucking kidding! If I wanted to use a web browser I could have easily Googled for the information! fwiw- the answer is 2010.
It was ten years ago tomorrow that my life changed drastically. On February 27, 2011, a wonderfully warm and sunny Sunday, I chose to go for a bicycle ride to Stone Mountain instead of going to Black Sheep. Little did I know when starting that journey that I wouldn’t make it to Stone Mountain, wouldn’t return on bike, it would be the last time I would ride the Red Rocket, and that I’d have my first ambulance ride, all because I assumed that the car which turned out in front of me on Church Street would not have done so. I t-boned that motherfucker and was launched across the car’s hood and landed on my right hip, still attached to my bike, on the other side. I suppose that I was fortunate, another foot on either side I may have been injured worse or even killed, and ten years on my hip does not bother me (much). Here’s the blog post I wrote the following day. (funny, as reread it I saw a glaring typo, not a rarity for me… 😮😂)
This Sunday is not supposed to be sunny but you can bet your ass that I’ll be going to Black Sheep, even if I still can’t run trail.
The rest of my weekend will be filled with work, both the stuff I do for a salary and that I do not.
Hope you have a healthy weekend and can make the most of it considering our weather.
Days Without an Amazon Purchase = 9
It’s not even 6:00am and my day’s plan has shifted already. I was hoping to drive to the Home Depot on Jonesboro Road and beat the rain that was predicted to arrive later this morning, but the rain is already here and I don’t feel like dealing with garden center purchases in it. ☹ï¸
Perhaps I’ll try again tomorrow since my morning walk with Betsy won’t begin until 8:30am.
And at almost 7:00am I realized that I may have overreacted as it appears the heavier rain is mostly north of the ITP Estate. Oh well…
Using my aborted Home Depot run as an opportunity to do a load of laundry, but my dryer doesn’t seem too happy with my decision…
My interaction with a car from my bike was years earlier. A just purchased, all chrome mountain bike. The “Path” to Stone Mountain was still a dream away, but there was a “bike route” which at some points used the “wrong direction” because of a wide shoulder. It was here that a woman pulling out of an apartment complex and I intersected. As I recall, I was a bit scratched, the bike was fine, and I rode back home. Later that week, the 1st wife and I went on a trip to Florida with the bikes on a rear rack. We were rear ended in Orlando traffic and the bike was a total loss. A shame- it was pretty.
A little quality time on Mahindra yesterday smoothing out sections of pasture and catching up on my podcasts. Unloaded $250 worth of feed and celebrated National Chili Day (at least according to the Skyline FB group) with some chili dogs!
Have a lovely weekend!

😮 (I know, I’m a copycat)
Yesterday I convinced the husband to utilize our new bike rack and ride on the Silver Comet. After a pain in the ass drive to the Florence Road parking lot, he rode his longest ride ever of 21 miles. He stopped every 5 miles to rest but he did it and at a 12 MPH average. He has finally decided he will buy some padded cycling shorts! 😮 I really wish he would think about getting a better bike, probably something like my fitness bike. He’s 6’2†riding a MTB with 26†wheels but he claims he likes the extra work because it gives him a better workout. 🤷ðŸ¼â€â™€ï¸ But it slows ME down LOL. Admittedly, it was a nice leisurely ride since I wasn’t busting my ass trying to keep up with you fast folks. ðŸ˜
Went to Krog Street Market for dinner last night. The WHOLE CITY was out and about last night, not unexpectedly. Every patio in the city was full.
I was filled with joy after a day of activities and not freezing my ass off. Maybe things will look up after all…
Nice. Where/What did you eat?
Varuna Napoli. Shocker, a white pizza. Whoops it wasn’t vegan…
😋
My work diversion today is watching YouTube videos that explain knots necessary to make square lashing, and tripod (teepee) lashing. 🤓
Given that I have no plans for tonight I may go wild and go to Home Depot and Aldi. 🎉🎉🎉
My wild plans will be cooking dinner and watching Netflix. And trying to convince the husband to hash Atlanta tomorrow… 🤣🤣🤣
🤯🤯🤯
Now that I keep seeing it drizzle and remain wet, a Home Depot run looks less promising tonight because all of the bags of manure will be wet and nasty.
Full patios last night does not surprise me.
6’2″ on a 26 inch wheeled bike? He’s going to injure himself. I doubt he can get the seat high enough not to be torqueing his knees.
I still remember learning lashing when I was a boy scout and those skills still come in handy.
I am going to try to build tripods for my tomato plants, and perhaps a trellis for beans/cucumbers with the straight privet branches I have saved.
I noticed today that the Tide Pods I use have grown considerably, perhaps they are twice as large as the previous ones I’ve purchased. This makes it harder to use less detergent of course, which is exactly what the makers of Tide want…
We use pods for full loads, but if I’m running a small load, I have a bottle of liquid. Try and outsmart me!!
Wasn’t the main reason you used tide pods was when you went to the laundromat for convenience? I concur you should buy a bottle for your hand washing at home.
That was the original reason for buying pods. I guess inertia is the reason I keep doing so?
At one point I was looking to buy powder, but that seems like a lost product market segment.
Liquid tends to dissolve better, I’ve found. 🤷ðŸ¼â€â™€ï¸
Agreed, but you are paying mostly for water? Maybe that’s antiquated information, however…
Bonnie, this is for the hubs. I’m sure he would have handled it just as well. I love listening to the air traffic control on United flights- at least it used to be an audio entertainment option.

Thanks I’ll pass it on. He just passed his proficiency test he takes every 9 months so he must be good enough. ðŸ˜
Yeah, that was like that scene in Breaking Bad…
