Well, this month won’t soon be forgotten by those of us who have lived through it.

I managed to get outside for a while last night as Bonnie and I went for a walk constantly separated by a safe distance. We were each armed with machetes in order to slice through the pollen.

As a sign of the times and perhaps because it was Monday, not many places in East Atlanta Village were open. Bonnie and I ordered takeout from Flatiron. We each ate an Impossible burger with spicy fried cauliflower. My meal was delicious, but by the end I was feeling a bit like a 🐷; ironic since there was no meat in the meal.

Speaking of meat… had I not been submissive and selected the only vegetable sandwich instead of eating a meat sandwich during my March 6th lunchtime meeting, March 2020 would have been completely* vegetarian. I put an asterisk there since we all know that certain things may contain animal products, and their inclusion is out of my control.

I have virtual German class tonight. One thing that hasn’t changed in my life is that I am completely unprepared.

    A fairly productive day at the office. While there was no exercise, there was some bush hogging at vet/friends Nicole and Doug’s. A path down to a neighbors pond that had become overgrown. 45 minutes tops for which she paid Debbie (!!). That was uncalled for, but OK.

    Rain looks to hit about 11… so far, my connectivity seems to be holding today. No reboots. The Fed did announce they had but the kibosh on streaming services while on the VPN. Killjoys.

    FYI, Caroline Street Kroger well-stocked for meat, dairy, produce, etc. No so much for TP, wipes, hand sanitizer.

    The nearby Target was out of TP, meat, etc.

    I took advantage of “old guy early entry” (7:00am). APD and in-store security waved me right in. I’m not sure if I should be flattered or…insulted. 🙂

    Traffic on Dekalb Avenue non-existent at 6:45a.

    Hurry rain…

    Bonus question: Over/Under on when the “all clear is sounded” and thing get back to “normal” (return to work, etc)?

      Target was decimated on TP and paper products on Sunday, except for some single ply that nobody wanted bad enough. Target had meat on Sunday. Trader Joe’s was stocked with meat like usual on Sunday.

      I plan to make an outing on Thursday or Friday that will include — laundry (it’ll be two weeks!), groceries, Target?, and dropping off paperwork to tax preparer’s office in Decatur (no human contact, I just want this task completed). If I can accomplish this, and The Universe doesn’t throw any more curveballs at me, I should be good to hole up for another two weeks or so based on what we are being told to do.

    Also, I know that April won’t be a vegetarian month since I have an andouille sausage in the refrigerator that’s not going to eat itself!

    I haven’t even looked at the TP aisle – so I have no idea what’s happening there. We have more than enough of everything – except produce of course. Got a box on oranges in the mail from FL – Sal said we have to wash them like they have glitter on them. She came by and I tossed a couple to her………. (ok, not really, but I wanted to).
    Had some bacon cheddar skinless brats for dinner last night – I need to get better at getting things out & thawing. In fact- I’ll do that tonight.

    Apparently, the CDC is “on the verse” of urging the general public to “wear masks”.
    Not the N95 variety you understand (reserved for medical personnel only), just some sort of…improvised mask.

    FYI, Joanne’s Fabrics is giving out free “mask kits”, consisting of enough material and tie-ribbon to make “10” masks. A pattern and instructions are included. We plan to try our hand at making some to donate…somewhere.

      If you have pets, veterinarians and their support staff need masks too.

      We suggested to my mom that she make some masks for her & my dad – she hasn’t used her sewing machine in years & years. It isn’t like they are going out anywhere, but – it would give her something different to do (besides puzzles). God knows she has fabric stashed here & there, and elastic, or something that would work. told her to make up a pattern – and just do it!
      she has never figured out the internet – so sending her a pattern wouldn’t help.

    “For those who survived it” — sigh. 🙁 Lost a friend this past weekend to it right here in Atlanta. His life partner is now in quarantine too and none of us can even go be with her, nor can she even start planning services or anything. It’s horrific. Someone did set up a GoFundMe for help when she actually can though. It’s heartwarming to see how much folks contributed already….and also really helpful to feel like you can actually do at least *a little something* at this time.

    Regarding TP: Check online! And order early. Last week I ordered from Walmart.com as it was showing a mega Quilted Northern (“like 72 regular rolls!”) in stock. I figured yeah right…but I’ll order anyway so that when they get replenishment for back orders, I’ll be “on the list.” It actually arrived on Sunday. I did the same for hand sanitizer. (still waiting on that one though!) So, that being said? If anyone reading this is REALLY in need? Let me know; I can definitely “spare a square”. 🙂

      Trader Joe’s has hand sanitizer, but you have to ask for it at the manager’s desk. One little bottle per person.

      Aw, that’s sad Stacy. I have heard on one case involving someone I know, but have not seen in many months.

      Good luck getting hand sanitizer. If/When my stock runs out I’ll be wiping my hands with the vodka I’ve kept in stock for some unknown reason.

      Stacy – I hadn’t seen the go fund me – is it on Atl Utd stuff that I don’t see? I’d like to chip in.
      also- do we know he died of Covid? I was thinking maybe it was something else, due to the dialysis he was on, etc. I’m just being curious, I’m so sad for Amy either way…….. its awful no one can go see her, comfort her, those types of things. To be all alone with your thoughts at this time – just horrible.

        Yes, we do know it’s Covid19 that took him. He’s had health issues for years. In the past couple weeks he’d been sick but just contributed it to that, I imagine. By time he got to the hospital it was too late; he passed within a day.

    Stacy, very sad indeed. I have an old HS friend that she and her husband were tested yesterday. Both with symptoms- he is not in good health.

    The line of storms just hit. At 9, I looked at the radar and said 11, so I was short by 5 minutes. Merriwether County called to warn us we were under a TS warning. So far, no wind or thunder.

    Glenwood Kroger status report: no TP, paper towels, antibacterial cleaning products, bleach, wipes, hand sanitizer. (And Paulie, there was no decaf Irish Breakfast Tea, but there was some peppermint but I don’t know what brand you drink.)

    Email from BRAG saying that it’s still on, not that I have registered. In the email it says to keep 6ft apart, which seems difficult given the number of riders I hear do it. Barb? Bob? What do you think?

      I interpreted from that email that they are just saying that in general, like at this current time as you are riding, not necessarily for big BRAG… 🤷🏼‍♀️

      What Bonnie said.
      Franklin is hopeful that BRAG will go on, he will make a final decision at the end of April and that depends on the CDC recommendations. While yes there are a lot of riders there we are never really packed together unless on a bus. In my 9 years of BRAG we have never made the mass start so crowds are not a problem on the road either 🙂

      I didn’t even read that email yet – we weren’t planning on BRAG, but now that we didn’t go to Spain……… hmmmmmm. I need to find out how long our Delta credits are good.

    Once again Vern’s postcard was not in my mailbox. According to the USPS it was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I wonder if was delivered, just not to my house.
