Wish I had something witty to say today, but I don’t. During these difficult days I may have another situation with which I must deal; fear not, it’s not related to my health.
I looked at my proofing dough this morning and it doesn’t seem to be rising well, even with my use of newly-purchased yeast. Poop.
Hope things are going well in your world.
Oh wait, I do have one thing… Miraculously my scale read 211.0 pounds this morning, the lowest it’s read in many months. I wonder if this means that I am such a bad cook that I am losing weight?
Well, there’s an impact caused by the current situation — the bread pans, I intend to master this bread baking thing, I ordered from Amazon are scheduled to arrive on April 23. Clearly I don’t need them immediately, but this is the first time that Amazon has projected that an in-stock item (I believe that they were in stock) will take a month to be delivered. I know Amazon has more pressing issues, we all do. I wonder if I will still be working from home nearing the end of April?
So you think it’s the pans? Hmmm…
I was noticing the scale was a bit happier lately, however working in the office yesterday where the meals are free (at the moment) had me eat a full breakfast and lunch. The scale was back to complaining when I stepped on.
Got my hair cut yesterday, since I was in the office and this morning I received an email stating they were closing because there was no way to practice social distancing. Made me feel a little sick. Remember me fondly…
I set my iPhone outside the mancave and turned on the hotspot and was able to stream a workout to my iPad. The rain that came down was an issue until I located a plastic bag to wrap the phone in.
From the Luthersville branch of FRB Atlanta, have a good day.

No, it’s proofing in a glass bowl as instructed by the YouTube video. I ordered new bread pans because they will fit together, one flipped over on top of the other, to form a faux Dutch oven in which I can bake a loaf of rectangular bread. The two I currently own cannot do this. I will donate the two I currently own when the new ones arrive, so if anyone needs bread pans…
I have a haircut appointment set for 3/31. We’ll see how things are next week.
Everything non-essential in the City of Atlanta is shutdown for 14 days: https://www.ajc.com/news/breaking-news/breaking-atlanta-mayor-signs-day-stay-home-order-due-coronavirus-pandemic/HpYoORZDNNqdIWc3QfKWwK/
Hmm, I wonder is haircuts are “essentialâ€? If not, it may be the return of “Unkempt Paulieâ€. 😮
Allan is going to try to get a haircut today – I know he won’t want me to do it!
Great Clips is closed, I don’t know if Allan tried anywhere else.
He said he may try the #2 clippers on himself.
I went home & made chicken salad for lunch. I guess I should look at a recipe – but I didn’t – it tasted ok.
I watched the Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood Facebook live concert last night with at least 300k people – it wasn’t really a concert, but it they are a cool couple, such real people. They talked more than they sang, but I found it entertaining. The feed kept cutting in & out, I think they were trying to break Facebook.
Besides that – we cooked some Steelhead trout & grits & asparagus for dinner – was quite tasty. Tonight will be fish tacos – because we have avocados that need to be made into guacamole.
We got some farm fresh eggs from Claire’s (Blue Ball) sister – got a dozen for Allan’s parents, and 2 dozen for Sal. And some for us of course. I was also stopping at Kroger so I got her some bananas & apples. She is really freaked out by this virus.
I tried to watch Garth too, but alas it didn’t hold my interest, plus it kept cutting out and driving me crazy.
Going to hit the grocery store today to shop for myself and a self-quarantined friend. She has some tall orders on her list—we shall see…
Good luck!
You’re good people. Take a bandana.. I think it’s going to become the new fashion statement.
(Sorry, distracted by other attentions Monday, until “too late” to reply here.)

Thanks! I will check into that.
Bread is in the oven.🤞🻠It’s a 400° F bake for the next 45-60 minutes; that ought to make the kitchen and nearby rooms nice and toasty on a dank day.
Unfortunately another lackluster result. I need to do some investigation into why this process is failing me.
Apparently you need to spend more time watching the Great British Baking Show. 😉
Seriously, good luck with your quest. That sounds like a productive way to channel the energy. I feel like somebody found a loose thread hanging off of our society and pulled on it, and now the whole thing has collapsed inward. I do know this is all temporary, but how, who knew we were so close to everything coming to a screeching halt?
I would have never imagined this! It’s like a movie.
Clearly I have not learned by osmosis… I’ll keep trying. Perhaps I need to attempt some garlic knots at the end of the week. ðŸ˜
Yeah, shit has gotten weird and not knowing when we will reach the end of this tunnel makes it feel weirder.
Well, it may not have risen properly by I just cut a piece off the loaf and my bread is fucking delicious!
glad it tastes good – that is truly all that matters.
*Fist bump*
New procedure for COA Fire – they have to get their temperature taken before they can work. But – only 10 fire houses have the official temperature takers – so Allan has to go to a different firehouse before he goes to his.
I suppose an ounce of prevention…
Wow.
Not surprisingly, the WH campout this weekend is canceled. Not that I would have gone at this point. In Kroger today I was more freaked out than I’ve been.
I was surprised that there was talk of it still continuing after last Saturday’s GM meeting.
Freaked out by other people? The lack of product?
Freaked out by germs and virus spreading. While there was decent stock (I got one of the last bags of brown rice!) there were many things not be be had like disinfectant of any kind, TP (duh), and many many things were down to a final few items. No liquid dishwasher soap. Very limited fish. There was lots of produce, but for example I didn’t get my preferred salad lettuce mix. A successful trip overall I’d say.
Grocery runs are getting me too, I run through the store like a mad man grabbing what I think I need then haul ass home and take a shower.
I cannot wait to get back to normal if that ever happens!
Right there with you.
I don’t know if it’s all these other folks around me sucking up what little internet bandwidth I can pull off the tower or the wonky system I support (!!), but I’ve spent most of the afternoon trying to stay connected. You city types will never know the pain!! :-p
I keep thinking of more things I need from the grocery store – like today I realized we are almost out of garlic powder & garlic salt. OMG – can we live with out that?
I love R. Land. I have his Loss Cat picture hanging in my kitchen. He created a Wash for ATL version of his Pray for ATL art:

Yeah I saw that too. Cool :).
