Annoyingly I can’t seem to shake the last vestiges of this cold – feeling a bit rundown, and a cough.

Yesterday’s drive home was pretty okay, except for the nearly two hours of heavy rain through which I drove in North Florida. I’ve driven through much heavy rain in my life, and this was the first time in a long time that I considered getting off the road and waiting out the storm.

I stopped for gas and food in Tifton, Georgia. I considered getting soup, salad, and breadsticks at Olive Garden, but since I had eaten at Outback Steakhouse the day before the ITP Snob in me couldn’t do it, plus, I wanted to get back on the road faster. Instead I went to Burger King and tried the Impossible Whopper for the first time. The burger was good, though with ketchup, mayonnaise, tomato, onion, lettuce, and pickle also between the bun I would have been hard pressed to find fault with the fake meat.

Back to the office today… 🥳😒

  1. Looks as if East Atlanta is destined to get another overpriced condominium building. The block that user to house Earthshaking Music has been demolished.

Saturday, I dropped Debbie’s knee scooter at Jackass’s house, which I approached from 166. I was amazed at how much was either under construction or already built up. I finally recognized where I was, once I got a bit farther north. Wow.

Quiet night. Debbie made meat loaf (!!) and I managed a half hour plus on the bike.

    Happy Ash Wednesday.

      😮

    • Hmmm that seems rude to me. I obviously get the reference/joke, but still…

No ruder than any other graffiti I see out there.
But then again, I like the Murder Kroger moniker and don’t ever want it to go away.

      • I think it’s different (not better mind you) when people paint “public space” than when they paint “private space”. I guess in my mind it makes it more vandalism than art?

I too like, and will always call it “Murder Kroger”.

I have some special schadenfreude reserved for Kroger. It started back in the 80s when I was briefly a union worker there (I got rooked into signing up for the union when I had a part-time evening job in the produce department). Flash forward to present day: many characteristics of Kroger trigger mixes of anger, frustration, and anxiety. I know some of ya’ll are just fine with Kroger, so at least you won’t ever find me block the aisle. 🙂

That’s kind of like me… I started watching Mad Men. I kind of have PTSD from part of my 17 years in marketing / advertising so those parts of the show sometimes make me anxious.

        • Bonnie says:

Also, Lurker I know you’ve converted to the new Publix. I’ve started looking more carefully at the BOGOs and I’ve decided it’s worth it to make a few strategic purchases there. I’ll still do the bulk of my “staples” shopping at Kroger, however.

          • ITP Lurker says:

Two of my biggest gripes about Kroger in general is they tend to run out of basics, like fresh parsley or fresh basil. Loads of lawn furniture, bath mats, and the like, but very often the produce department looks as ransacked as the milk/bread aisles on a day when snow flurries are predicted. Also, the bizarre stocking patterns. The word DAIRY appears in 10 foot letters along the back wall. One day I spent 45 minutes looking for butter, which is a dairy item in my book, but no, it’s on an interior item next to the juice. There are also usually ridiculous lines to check out, and don’t get me started on having to enter my “Kroger Plus” card to not get gouged. I don’t want to have to volunteer to be tracked. Harrumph.

My condolences on Mad Men. It was a great show, or at least the first few seasons were. I flamed out before the end.

        • My latest gripe with Kroger is that they have stopped sending me coupons in the mail. All of the coupons previously mailed to me have expired.

Welcome home! Hope you shake your illness soon–no later than Saturday. 😏 On the bright side, it could have been worse….

Supposedly Thrive owns the space and wants to build more condos (25?). Thrive also built the Ironside condos between Midway and Flatiron. EAV is supposedly trying to persuade them to incorporate mixed use but we shall see…

I tried to make the cutest vegan Twice Baked Shepherd’s Pie Potatoes last night. Basically shepherds pies in potato skins with mashed potatoes on top. Adorbs! But mine weren’t… the potato skins fell apart so I was forced to transfer the slop into a baking dish and smear the mashed potatoes on top like you normally would. It was pretty good for a “Bonnie-fied recipe” (limit/omit salt and less-than-good-for-you-ingredients). 😂 The potatoes likely fell apart as I didn’t leave myself enough time to bake them in the oven and instead resorted to the instant pot. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7QnehRgbhg/?igshid=31h8higioh4l

  4. Ash Wednesday is a little too in the nose today. I had to leave Florida shortly after hearing of the passing of one of my aunts (mother’s sister), and upon returning heard of the death of a friend’s father yesterday.

  5. And for something completely different. My AppleWatch now refuses to charge on the official Apple charging lollipop that I bought four years ago; the watch displays an error message! It will happily charge on a newer charging lollipop, however. Weird. The watch took a software update last week, which now feels suspiciously to be the cause of this?

  6. Wow, my iPad just rebooted while I was downloading app updates. Isn’t that fucking special…

Dermatologist appt this morning – 4 spots that are getting a little attention, but they are most likely nothing. So many years of sunburns when I was younger – I need to get back there once a year to get checked on.

    • Making a dermatologist appointment is on my to do list, and has been for too long. I need to get a “once over” and have some attention paid to my “special” skin disorders.

    • Steve says:

We are both such delicate flowers! Glad to have that one nasty removed- now I have a nice scar going on.

    • Bonnie says:

I’ve been to the dermatologist but never have had a once-over. I should put this in my to-do list as well. Getting older is a lot of work.
