I saw a fine, if not minimalistic, performance of “Our Town†last night. Is that always the case for this play? I somehow feel that it is.
Perhaps the best thing I saw last night occurred prior to the performance when I witnessed Theatrical Outfit’s Artistic Director Tom Key outside the theater picking up garbage. Bravo, sir. Bravo!
Dressed for ultra-casual Friday, wearing shorts and a t-shirt at work, today since I might be hoofing it to the Amazon storefront on 5th Street at lunch. I feared my package may be too large for the lockers at Whole Foods, so I’m picking it up on 5th instead.
Have a great weekend all.
Yes, that is how “Our Town†is always performed. You know I love theater and have an appreciation for all genres, but I could never “get†this one. Yawn! It was my high school drama teacher’s favorite play and he yapped about it all the time and when I finally saw it I was like…. “what?!†You know Tom Key is stepping down, right?
For some reason I assumed that’s how Our Town is done. I have no reason why I knew(?) this.
It was interesting to me, but mundane at the same time.
Yes, I have read he’s stepping down next year and that TO has announced his replacement.
Hmm, looks like another bill from Piedmont Hospital is due to arrive in the mail today. Do all businesses/governments have a deal with the USPS to deliver bills on Fridays in order to ruin people’s weekends? 🤔
I’ll show them, I won’t open the envelope until Monday! 🤨
Hehe
LOOKOUT! A TUMBLEWEED!

I thought I had the route nailed from the Beltline Southside Trail all the way to Washington Park. I don’t. But I still had a good nearly-19-mile MTB ride today. ðŸ˜
Envious you got to go riding today.
🤜ðŸ»ðŸ¤›ðŸ»
I rode 15 yesterday too. 😠To make you feel better, it was hot. 🥵
Don’t mind the heat when I ride as long as I have water to drink.
I’m envious you made money today… 🤣
Bonnie, I recently figured out that I can do at least 24 miles on the current Beltline. Let’s say that I jump on the Beltline at Boulevard. I can ride east on the Southside trail and pick up the concrete at Memorial. It’s 3 miles to Piedmont Park, and then I can keep going north beyond Piedmont Park to Armour Circle. There’s a 12 mile marker somewhere in that area. When I get the railroad tracks, I turn around and go all the way to the other end (down the Eastside trail, across the Southside, and up the Westside), which near Washington Park there’s a 0.5 mile marker.
That Westside trail is a little tricky, it took me 3 or 4 attempts to figure it out. If you’re coming from the Southside trail, ride the Westside Trail until it ends, and then follow the sidewalk to the left. Take an immediate right to go back by the trail, cross the bridge, and then turn right. At the bottom the hill, another right. You’ll follow an overlapping trail north to the Lean Draft House, and then cross the street to pick up the Beltline to Washington Park. If I ride to that end, and then back to Boulevard, at least 24 miles.
I tried following the Westside PATH trail that crosses where the Beltline ends, but that just goes a couple of blocks to the MARTA station and then ends. I didn’t go south, so it might go somewhere.
My next goal is to get to the Proctor Creek Greenway. I don’t have a bike rack, and prefer to limit myself to using my bike places that I can get to from my house. I’m not averse to using MARTA if needed, and will be doing so soon to check out the Path 400 trail once the new extension opens.
Yeah, I need to analyze my Strava and compare to the trail maps. Like you said, I got confused at the places the Westside Trail ends, and I think i spent too much time on PATH trails instead. In the end it doesn’t really matter, but the OCD side of me wants to know how to do it the proper way. I started at Glenwood and BKW and went west only. I tacked on the Lionel Hampton trail west of Washington Park (as I was trying to hit 20 miles round-trip) and almost made it to the MARTA station, but a large tree is blocking the PATH and I was too lazy to hoist my bike over it.
Yesterday I rode my hybrid bike from Glenwood Park to the top of Peabody Park, and tacked on some PATH trails too. Got in 15 miles.
Oh, I haven’t heard of Peabody Park. I’ll have to investigate!
Once you eventually connect the dots on the Westside trail it’ll make sense, but it’s super-confusing until you do.
Hehe, Piedmont Park!
You’re such a tease. 😉 The only Peabody Park I could find is in Memphis. Thanks for clarifying.
Make sense since Bonnie lived in Memphis previously.
