It was a hot day yesterday but nineteen people showed up to do my four-mile (though my AppleWatch stopped recording at 2.75 miles so I was relatively uncertain how long trail actually was) romp around midtown. Admittedly it was an easy trail, but hey, Moonlite. We ended at Smiths Olde Bar, where I ate a grilled pimento cheese sandwich with fries and drank two $8(!) pints of Creature Comfort Tropicalia. I need to be more skeptical when prices are not printed on the beer menu.
Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 214.2 pounds (+1.6 from last week’s weigh-in, +7.6 from last year’s weigh-in); even with an exercise-filled weekend I was expecting disappointment today.
It was a nice trail. Perfect for the occasion- lots of shade, not a road rage, and a nice crowd. Could have been a better crowd with more blog readers (ahem…).
It was a good weekend overall- a good ride Saturday (early) followed by some yardwork (what an idiot…) and a visit with Debbies mom. Sunday had some scooter riding and some steak grilling, followed by watching “A Star is Born”- not a laugh riot.
Yesterday, aired out the scooter to breakfast, where I dropped it in the parking lot. Oops. Those crash bars came in handy as there wasn’t the weight of the bike laying on my ankle. Stopped at the little cemetery in Lone Oak. Very old graves… latest burial was 1910 or so. Lots of burials pre-civil war. Wow.

Too hot for hashing yesterday, imho. I reckon if you and I were still closer friends I’d have come out to support you anyway, Paulie, but we’re in “the weather is gonna make me bail every time” category of hash friendship support now.
Speaking of weather: headed to my first campout of the season this weekend, up in N.C.. Doesn’t look like rain, which is good, but looks uber hot: the opposite of good. Thankfully there’s a river on the campsite that I’m sure will be used quite a bit! It’s been a few years since I’ve camped so I’m pretty excited either way.
I had planned to go hash, even arranged to carpool with Burning Bush – but got a call from some friends that are in town from New Zealand – so went & hung out with them.
Sorry – they live way to far away to blow them off. They think I have murdered Allan, since he is always working whenever they have had free time to get together this trip.
We haven’t seen Allan lately, either… and those could be old pictures on FB. Hmmm…
Sorry I missed seeing you Steve!
Likewise, and I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Yesterday marked my 20th anniversary of hashing, which means that as of this Saturday I will have known Steve for twenty years as well since we met at my second hash.
weekend was a good one –
Saturday did a hike with HoPo & Breaststroke, went & got a loaner car from Subaru so they can tear apart my engine & put it back together, and had a great Parrothead reunion with some friends that live in New Zealand and others we don’t’ see often enough.(Allan missed out, he was at the station)
Sunday – Allan slept & then thought yard work in the heat was a good idea all afternoon. Move that huge pile of mulch out of the driveway area & covered up a bunch of weeds – looks much nicer, but damn that was a hot project.
Monday – Allan workign again (OT!!) so I was single. I had breakfast & shopping with JoAnna, cleaning & packing for Iowa/Wisconsin later this week, then more catching up with the New Zealand gang. They hope to move back to the states once their youngest starts college in 2020. We had hoped to go visit before they moved back, but not sure if it is in the budget by 2020.
“got a loaner car from Subaru so they can tear apart my engine & put it back togetherâ€
wait, what?
I have an engine recall, and my oil cams somethings have an issue, so the $2700 repair is only $1000 or so because they can charge the labor to the engine issue recall.
I got a Subaru Legacy, I haven’t driven a sedan in forever – but at least it doesn’t make me have new car envy, I like the SUV style of car. It is a very nice car though, and I’ve been playing with all the bells & whistles. So much technology.
Wow Paulie, 19 people?! Sounds like a great trail, I wish I could have rounded the count up to 20. And Smith’s too, ugh. I’ve been homebound with a viral upper respiratory infection since flying back from Germany. My entire Memorial Day weekend ruined. I’m trying to will myself into recovery by Prom. I can’t handle two weekends of disappointment. And I already bought my dress…
Yeah, nineteen, which made me a little nervous since I had purchased twenty-four beers for my beer stop and you know Amber Bait really puts them away… 😂
The latest from the world of horse trading- Murphy has sold!! A woman flew (!!) in to try him out and could NOT even get him to trot! Paid full price (woot!!). Horse people are cray cray.
And KKGB has started at the Fed! Several sightings as she gets her new laptop set up.
Congrats on the sale. Sounds like horse people have too much money on their hands…
whooohooo on selling a horse!
Still so hot. Went outside and had to come back to the office before German class.
APD having a field day pulling people over on southbound Peachtree north of the High museum. Be careful out there…
Also somehow managed to hurt my right wrist. Did I do it dropping flour and making chalk arrows?
just got FREE tix to the Braves for tonight – Delta 360 club – free food & drinks!
I just hope I can get Allan to quit working on the kitchen – I figure uber over there, and get a ride home from the friends that have the extra tickets. Even if we get there at 8pm, dinner & drinks & who cares about baseball!
Wow, very lucky! Especially since you don’t have to sit out in this heat.
the club will be packed inside – those rich folks don’t care about the game (just like me!) I don’t mind about sitting outside – seats are row 4 in section 124. I just want the free beer & food,
