Another chilly morning, another slow start to my day. Some might even goes as far as to say that there is a correlation.

    So nice yesterday. Should have been active, but I was out on my tractor instead. I think tonight is a bike night.

    Tomorrow is the annual “turn your head and cough” so I have that to look forward to. I know my cholesterol is high and I really don’t want to take anything for it, but I might be at that point. I’m trying to eat better… no, really!

      Allan started pulling up the floor a little yesterday, to see how hard that is going to be with that linoleum glued to it. It wasn’t as bad as he thought, there are 2 layers, 1 plywood, then some other boards. He’s just cutting thru the plywood, trying to not cut into that lower layer – its gonna be fun.

      I took the night off from painting with Kilz – tonight I need to get back to it.

      Well, in its current condition the ITP Estate’s AC can’t make a July morning cool so yes I will be up and out of bed early and loving it.

        I saw a billboard for an AC checkup – I keep thinking we should do that, but with us spending a fortune on this kitchen, I just can’t seem to schedule it.

        I have a relatively-new AC compressor and fan (I could search this space for when I had them installed), but there must be a leak between them in the line they did not replace when installing those components leaving my with low “freon”.

          A telling symptom of low refrigerant is your coil “freezing up”, reducing/stopping air flow. You will also often see actual ice on the lines at the outside compressor.

          Note: a frozen-up coil, once thawed, has to get rid of that water somewhere, ideally via your condensate line.
          Make sure it’s not clogged, or you’ll have another problem with which to deal.

          In (extreme cases) it can also be caused by a (very) clogged air filter, thus reducing flow across the coil.

          A good rule of thumb is your unit should be able to blow air around 15-20 degrees below the (ambient) temperature at the coil. Get a thermometer and check your air flow from your vents, 80F “outside” (not in direct sun, etc), should result in “60F” coming out of your vents.

          If your HVAC needs service, schedule that…asap, before it gets hot.

          A decent HVAC tech (even one that “only does residential”) should be able to easily detect a leak using a “freon sniffer”, give access to the potentially leaking area.

          Pro tip: Refrigerant (R-22, et al) is readily available for like $25/pound…not the “$150/pound, the government makes us charge that much…to get people off R-22.”

    That’s interesting… most people are more sluggish when it’s hotter.
    I love these cooler days. Already dreading July.

      In July I won’t want to stay in bed because it will be too warm for me to do so. Also, I enjoy the long days and getting out to exercise before it gets blisteringly hot.

    Unrelated: I think the pollen has finally gotten to me, and I didn’t even mow the lawn as planned this morning.

    Dentist appointment this morning. The hygienist told me I have one of the cleanest mouths she’s seen—very little tartar/plaque. She kept raving how she wishes everyone was this easy. I’m like, hey I’ve spent a goddamn fortune on dental work and I do my damndest to prevent further work.

    Paulie, I hope the pollen doesn’t wear you down too much.

    Put another 12 miles on the new bike. An asshole on a scooter made an illegal maneuver and cut me off while I was in the bike lane on 10th near Monroe. Yay for brand new brakes and luck. Ugh I hate people. The guys at Atlanta Cycling said I need to put 40-100 miles on the bike before Spring Tune Up they can adjust my cables, etc. before I leave. Tomorrow may be decent after all so will hopefully get a few more in tomorrow in-between chores.

      Kudos to me for getting home and mowing my front lawn — it was much needed.
