Because I needed to get out of the office yesterday and I was wearing inappropriate shoes for walking, my walk ended at Taco Mac. Yesterday I drank Brewniversity beers #699 and #700, a little more than thirteen years after rejoining the program. Admittedly my Taco Mac visitation has dropped considerably over the past handful of years. My visitation will continue to drop now that I discovered that they can no longer give a “free†four ounces to those of us who have had more than 125, instead I get a “credit†to my account for future use; stupid Government. My twenty-ounce beers cost me nearly $9 each; stupid, stupid Government.
I thought the large crowd gathering at Taco Mac was to watch me drink beer #700, but instead some basketballer named Vince Carter was supposed to be at the midtown Taco Mac too. I bet he hasn’t consumed as many beers as I have…
Wait, what? They used to give out free beers?
Not that I was anywhere near 125… but I didn’t realize that.
People with more than 125 beers used to get a twenty-ounce beer for the same price as a sixteen-ounce beer. Apparently the City’s anti-happy-hour policy no longer allows them to do this. So yesterday I had to pay full price for a twenty-ounce beer, and then I was “credited†for four ounces of beer on my account. Stupid Government.
Paulie, did we get screwed the other day too (Highland Taco Mac)?
Probably. I never saw an itemized receipt since I was paying with the gift card. No worries.
I’m living like Stacy today, found $80 in my jeans pocket. 🤑
Hey Captain Moneypants, on what day is your Rosa’s pizza lunch outing?
Thursday, April 25, which if I recall is also the day you and Barb head to BRAG. There’s a chance I could free up on a different day in April, I’ll know the week before, so I’ll choose a different day if I can and put the word out here.
Ah yes, that explains why it’s not in my calendar.
$80???? damn – I never find more than $20. Thanks AWESOME!
A former boss was fond of saying “Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut.” I am guilty as charged.
Whoa! I was excited that I found a penny on my walk to Kroger this morning :).
The Bank decided it would be OK for employees to wear jeans on Mondays and Fridays. This is nice, as I really never thought we would make it to business casual. That meant I had to actually purchase new jeans and not rely on my holy and torn pairs. I stopped at Target near the Games meeting last night and scored one pair for $10 and another at regular price. Sweet.
Some Games folks will be marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade Saturday. I might, depending on the rest of my world.

I’ve attended the parade the two years I’ve lived here, and plannned to go again this year, but one of my friends is trying to talk me into something else that conflicts. We shall see…
It’s not me (this time) as I will be watching one of my fake nephews swim at a meet on Saturday.
Back from CA – that 0700am (0400am pacific) alarm was too early.
Did manage to go to sleep about 1130 (830 pacific)
unpacked & started laundry – and I really need to go thru my AmEx charges to be sure nothing crazy happened (besides all the wine we did buy of course)
My power has been out since 5-something A.M. and is projected to come back on at noon, but it was originally supposed to be 9:00, then 10:00 and now noon so I will not be surprised if it pushes out further. Apparently caused by a car accident.
Yesterday I put in over 8 miles on the Southside Trail (Glenwood Park to Metropolitan Parkway and back). I jogged over 4 miles straight with minimal stopping (just for a few photos and to chat with a nice mountain biker). I probably jogged at least another mile or so on the way back. I’m sure no hasher would believe this, but it makes a difference running on flat trail with lightweight shoes, vs. hashing with terrain and heavy, wet, mucky trail hikers.
Tonight going to see the Memphis Grizzlies vs. the Hawks. Go Grizz!
OK bye, can’t use my phone too much until the power comes back on…
Look at you! *fist bump*
You need to buy a battery for such occasions.
I do have 2 small batteries that seem to have some charge, and I’m using one now since my phone got down to 7%.
Today I am planning to go to the gym to do some strength training. Paulie, can you ride the trainer before Betsy’s? Do it!
I got into the office early, so I will be leaving correspondingly early, so I should be able to exercise prior to going to Betsy’s.
*Fist bump*
NICE, Bonnie! If you go a bit beyond Metropolitan Parkway and keep an eye on the right you’ll see where you can walk through a 100 feet or so of weeds and then pickup the actual Westside Beltline trail. The landmark is a rundown-looking set of apartments. It’s an easy Uber ride back if you go farther than you want to traverse back on foot. I love that trail, and I’m looking forward to biking it soon.
Yeah Lurker, I was just under a time constraint yesterday and had to turn around…
I figured. My point is the “real†trail is surprisingly close to where you turned around. I stopped at Metrpolitan too the first time I walked that far, and was truly surprised the next time how close I was to Lee Street and the Westside trail. Shows how fast/far you can go when going as the crow flies. 😉
Fun fact, I have a photo of myself with Vince Carter (when he played for the Grizzlies).
Yesterday was the only day of Spring, apparently. I went out to walk at lunch and it was cold and breezy- at least without a jacket. And the CFA at Colony Sq has been reduced to a sandwich stand. No lemonade. Ugh.
I took some stuff to my car at lunch and was surprised how chilly and windy it was outside.
I thought it was lovely out- but I have been in NorCal for the last week – its wasn’t that great of weather out there.
