Eating avocado matzoh for breakfast, kinda like the hipster Jewish brethren of avocado toast, which is interesting since I am neither.
Another thing I am not is young, but that didn’t stop me from attending last night’s (sold out) Car Seat Headrest Show at Variety Playhouse. I attended the show with Bonnie so we got a little walking exercise in before the show, but the old man had to hail a Lyft for the commute home.
Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 208.8 pounds (-2.2 from last week’s weigh-in) Woot!
That avocado matzoh actually sounds interesting. Did you make it or are you out somewhere?
It’s good you Lyfted home. I’m not a scaredy-cat or anything, but walking around at night alone is never really a good idea.
However, walking around with groups and ghosts is! (ha! how’s that for a segue?) Last night I did a flashlight tour of Oakland Cemetery and it was a lot of fun. They kept insisting they do not do “ghost” tours, only historical ones — said, of course, with a smile and a twinkle in their eye. We got to hear a bunch of stories about the residents there (and how they came to BE there!)… I was super excited to learn the story of REDWINE. Everyone familiar with the cemetery knows about the REDWINE grave marker/monument. Turns out the dude was quite the scoundrel and embezzler. Pictures, of course, are on the ‘Gram.
Constructed at the office with the box of Woohoo! ($1.00) matzoh that I have here and the avocado that became incredibly ripe since yesterday.
I agree, though Bonnie would have protected me, I think. ðŸ˜
Headed to Instagram now to check out your photos. Speaking of photos, I once again took none. Bonnie did however, so follow her on Facebook or Instagram if you want to see awesome photos from the show.
Debbie and I both commented how we’d love to tour Oakland. I think we have some years ago, but it wasn’t guided.
Oh! If anyone’s interested, Oakland Cemetery actually has an event this weekend called “Sunday in the Park” – their 40th annual. Lots of stuff going on, including tours. All FREE. (I’m a big fan of the free.)

Well, now I’ve gotta leave this here… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXt56MB-3vc
If that’s a link to the UB40 song I may have to strip the link. This blog has standards, you know. 😉
LOL! But I like that song! 🙂
Whew! You saw the link in time, Stacy! 😉
There might be a chance I’d still like the song if I didn’t hear it so much on loop while working at Toys R Us in the 80s.
Also, doors opened at 7:00 and Bonnie and I arrived at 7:15. I thought we’d be there plenty early enough to get front row, however without forcing forward to the front we wound up standing about five people deep.
Car Seat Headrest? Was the opening act Left Handed Monkey Wrench? I’ll stick with Tony and Frank, thanks.
A quiet evening. The World Equestrian Games (WEG) are happening in Tryon, NC. A quadrennial event that has all kind of events. Fascinated to watch the driving competition. Team of 4 horses, driver, “navigator”, and counterweight going through crazy tight turns for time. I think the whole course has 8 areas of obstacles (gates A-F to be passed in order) and the running time is about a half hour.
Run at lunch and Games meeting tonight. Tomorrow, celebrating somebody’s birthday!

Opening act was incredible, they were called “Naked Giantâ€. Thankfully it was a figurative, and not literal, band name.
I thought something similar when I saw “Car Seat Headrest” on Bonnie’s page. That sounds like a band that’s just trying too hard.
that is a pretty strange band name……… I will agree,
And I know like me, everyone will be glued to a video device watching today’s Werder Bremen soccer (aka “Fußballâ€) match at 12:30 ET.
This will be my one gripe about Apple swapping the virtual keys that bring up global keyboard and numerics on the iPad keyboard in iOS 12. Frustrating me a lot right now.
Reading the exam notes from my visit with Dr. Royster at Peachtree Orthopedics, I find he described me as a “well-developed and well-nourished male…”.
I think I’ve been described as…fat. 🙂
Busy day today:
– Take girls to airport for trip to NYC, Harry Potter play, etc. (complete)
– Renew passport
– Schedule PT at Peachtree Orthopedic (strengthen hip abductors)
– Call Piedmont for any Radiology cancellations (MRI)
– Coordinate HVAC repair (condensate coil leak)
– Figure out how to register ‘Lib’s car in Texas
– Arabia Mountain yellow daisies (maybe)

Suddenly my day looks wide open! 😉
Well, I still see enough time your day to 3-D print a stamp that converts Jacksons to Tubmans… 😉

Ha, cool…
(Stamp handle is 3D printed, the actual stamp is…laser cut.)
Passport renewal applications sent (“Expedite!”).

You caught me, it was tl;dr for me.
Allan is trying to figure out what is wrong with our dryer (making weird noises)- I think it shouldn’t be too tough to fix (from my searching on the google), but getting it out of the laundry room to look at is the hard part. That room isn’t big enough we figured out after it was built. At least it isn’t’ the washer – I’m sure that weighs a ton.
Allan has his first actual day as a Captain tomorrow at Station 4 – he thinks he will like it- except the most likely lack of sleep all night. So – we will not be planning anything the morning after his shifts.
Weird noises sound like bearings going bad. No fun.
Captain Grove!!! I like it!
Because I can’t help myself… a little Grand Funk Railroad for Alan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8MYsii4DZY
Paulie – you still making it to dinner tomorrow night? Whatcha making?
Barb, you should come too, especially if Allan’s off working.
I’m probably not going to make it tomorrow. I’m leaving town for Hartwell Thursday afternoon and need to get all of my things gathered and prepared to pack.
Hahaha okay. That’s one thing I’ve never understood: how people need a whole free evening to pack. Add to that friends who start packing for vacation days ahead of time. Like, huh? I guess I’m just one of those last minute type folks. I’ve always been one of those people who, if I forgot something? I can live without. 🙂
Wednesday night I’m making two batches of grit cakes to have for Saturday night’s hash meal. The rest of the packing should take me about 30 minutes. I want to have everything in the car Thursday morning
This also a camping weekend so there is more stuff for me to bring up from the basement. If I were just packing clothes I’d do it all Thursday morning.
Exactly, Stacy. Until the day comes that I decide to trek the Sahara, I can gather my stuff practically walking out the door.
I’m in the Stacy & Lurker camp – WING IT when packing, and hope I didn’t forget anything important.
since I may have to work Sunday, I will only be at Hartwell for Saturday, or maybe sleep there, I don’t need much (I’m staying inside bunking with Sani)
I’m typing up my Hartwell packing list right now! 🤓🤓🤓
I work from lists.. I have a couple I’ve used for years and then just modify- ski trip, big bike race, Games work week. As I think of things, they go on the list.
Steve, that’s exactly what I do too! I’ve had them for years. However, hashing and camping is still a newish activity for me so I haven’t really added that stuff to a comprehensive list…
Not sure about tomorrow night yet- I totally forgot to tell Allan’s mom to make the green jello thing, and I haven’t planned anything else.
Actually – forgot about it.
Also – I was thinking Claire would maybe postpone/cancel it again…..
Yeah, I asked her if we were still on. She thinks it’ll be small, but sometimes the small ones have been the most fun. 🙂 My dish isn’t going to be anything special, but it is something that *I* used to make a lot as a kid. And it’s vegetarian to boot! (but still delicious)
Huh. I stopped into Octane (Revelator) Coffee in Woodruff Arts and the employee told me that he couldn’t accept cash, and asked if I had a card. Is that legal? Of course I do, but I balked and left without getting coffee.
Apparently it is, at least according to the Federal Government.
Look at you go- I learned the other day, the Board of Govenors of the Federal Reserve are actual Gub’ment employees, which I am not.
wow- I would rather use cash – I know what I’m spending that way.
And – I agree with Lurker – Orwell had it right except the year.
The City of Atlanta only accepts credit cards at the MLK Recreation Center. I think this is going to become more and more of a thing. Our actions will be tracked everywhere and anywhere we go.
I’ve long contended the only thing Orwell got wrong was the year.
