Taking a random trip to Athens today. Oh wait, no I’m not…
Today is going to be super busy. Will toil at “XYZ Corp†until about 5pm, and then head to drink with the Germans at Wild Heaven tonight.

Google has updated the look of the Chrome browser and I’m not sure that I like it.
I noticed that yesterday. I’m not sure I do either. But then I could just be old and crotchety and resistant to change. 🙂
This quote from Twitter aligns with my experience:
@DennisTirchPhD: “Tempting as it may be to try to criticize and berate your way into healthier habits, that just isn’t how change happens. Self-compassion works better.”
And yes, I feel like there’s teams of software developers out there reimagining user interfaces just as a matter of job security. If it isn’t broken, don’t damn fix it.
Along those lines I rode my bicycle (one mile) to my friend Betsy’s house last night instead of driving. 🤯
Nice! I have a bit of a streak going (for me) where I’ve ridden my bike every day since last Friday. I’m going to take a mid-morning ride today to keep the streak going.

I did a little exploring on my CX bike last night. Sadly, I kept turning off the GPS, which I really wanted to follow. Apparently there are trails that need work and I was unsuccessfully looking for them. I did manage to stay upright (mostly) on some rutted and rocky trails, but had to stop at least twice to remove the spiders riding on the handlebars.
Tomorrow, I’ll be out at the Yellow Daisy Festival promoting that little highland games coming up in 6 weeks. This is a great opportunity to advertise to folks who are most likely to show up- locals. We do such a poor job of publicity, it amazes me we lasted for as long as we have.

Shoot, we were thinking about going to the festival but I think we decided against it. What timeframe will you be there?
My shift is 10-2.
Ha ha, Paulie! Fun day in Athens, great town. I definitely want to go back. This trip was a “see the touristy sites†trip. Thanks again guys for the recs 🙂.
R.E.M. pilgrimage:
-“Murmur†trestle
-Steeple
-Weaver D’s “Automatic For The People†(they weren’t serving lunch for some reason, but everything probably has bacon drippings in it anyway…)
-Wuxtry Records
-Georgia Theatre
Walked a tiny bit on the greenway (yes it’s nice)
40 Watt Club
UGA campus (sorry Paulie)
Oconee Hill Cemetery (unfortunately just a short visit, definitely want to go back and dig in more) (hehe)
Creature Comforts
Farmers Market – bought some pretty chocolate bell peppers
Jittery Joes – bought coffee to take home
Went into Trappeze Bar and took some photos but didn’t drink (cool bar area and taps)
Lunch: The Grit (vegetarian restaurant, yum!)
Dinner: Clocked (yum!)
Wow, what a whirlwind tour!
Surprisingly last night I found out that Betsy has never been to Athens!
Well, maybe we should take a(nother) road trip then! 🙂

Damn, you packed it in! Nice work! That’s exactly the kind of agenda I put together when I get to travel to a different city on my own.
wow- that’s a full touristy day.
I’ve never done any of these things.
I lived in Athens for four years and didn’t do some of those things (of the ones that actually existed in the early 80s.)ðŸ˜
I wasn’t into REM so those locations weren’t on my radar. I would like to check out the cemetery.
should be a huge hash celebration of Proof’s life tonight at 57 Fighter Group – its sad that this is the way to get hashers to show up.
I hope they called ahead to let them know its gonna be a busy Thursday night.
Looking forward to some beer cheese soup –
Stacy – will you be there tonight?
No. I had hoped to, but it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to.
