Unlike yesterday I am feeling lazy this morning. Perhaps it was all of the wine I drank last night?

    Since you’re not on the book of faces, you might not know this. A bunch of us are getting together for dinner tonight at the Imperial. BECAUSE SMASH BURGER IS BACK. 🙂

      Hmmm, now I have three choices:
      – Vegan dinner at Petit Choux with Urban Explorers
      – Vegetarian dinner made at home
      – Meat dinner at The Imperial

      All bases seem to be covered…

        A burger served at The Imperial called the Smash Burger.

        It was what they had for Burger Week a couple years ago. It comes with a big ball of pimento cheese on it that you smash. It’s delicious. I took a video of us all doing it. 🙂 Because I’m a dork like that. I’ll point ya to it on the books of faces.

          that sounds really good. Not sure if we can make it yet – Allan had a late night at the Buckhead Tavern last night, we may decide not to fight traffic.

    So far, no issues with the tooth from yesterday. I am keeping up with the antibiotics and anti-inflammatories like a good little patient.

    Hopefully, a quiet day today preparing for tomorrows switch upgrade beginning at 5PM. If I get my ducks in a row, it should be a quick swap.

      teeth issues – always a good time.
      I think I need to contact my dentist – I think its about time for a cleaning.

        I had my turn in the chair for a cleaning this morning. Could have thrown a rock and hit Paulie’s building had I ventured outside of Colony Square. If I don’t schedule my next appointment at the end of a given one, then that next appointment never happens.

          I always schedule my next dentist visit while I am there. There are a few dentist offices in Colony Square, did you interact with a very happy woman named Karen?

            No, but I think I know you’re talking about. Colony Square Dental? She’s beyond happy. I don’t know if I could abide being that happy. Or if you go elsewhere, she must have a sister at the practice I see. I’ve had the same dentist for almost 30 years now. Other than Georgia Power and AmEx I haven’t had any service provider that long.

            Not sure in which practice she works, but she is a hasher “Fill My Cavity”.

            My longest uninterrupted service provider is State Farm – 35 years.

            I doubt this person, who reminds me of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh is a hasher. But who knows? And yes, should have included State Farm on my list. Necessary evil.

    I see the The Brass Tap on Glenwood has gone out of business. Though not completely surprised, I would have guessed that they would try to hang on until the Beltline portion not two blocks away, opened to see if that improved business.

      I certainly never darkened their door. I could tell from the street there were *way* too many TVs for me. Felt better suited for OTP to me.

          My impression of *many* (not all) folks in the suburbs like places that have tons of TVs. At least that’s based on my infrequent jaunts to eating establishments OTP. Yes, I’m being perimeterist. 😉

    I decided to start working on my closet last night, but in trying to rearrange shelves, baskets, etc last night, I found I was closet system challenged. I couldn’t get the baskets to slide in & out right (so I gave up). Allan showed me what I was doing wrong in the installation of it – I’ll guess try again tonight. I still can’t decide where I want what……… decisions are tough!

    Allan said Steel Panther has a crowd that was a cross between People of Walmart & what you would think Spinal Tap fans would look like. He said it was great people watching. And – the band was pretty good too. (way too loud, but they give you ear plugs at the door)

    …this just in:

    Today was “lawn mowing day” (as dictated by my SO/Jan of 36 years), so I skipped the Y (I’m a 5 x week, 7:00am kind of a guy), ate a decent breakfast and got after the lawn around 8:30am.

    My trusty Crasftman 40 YO mower cranked on the first pull (natch). I’d recently replaced the front drive tires and drive belt for the self-propelled bits. Didn’t touch the engine. This was its first post-repair run.

    Despite oppressive humidity/heat I knocked the front yard out, no problem.

    Given the heat and my advanced age, I felt like it was appropriate to take a brief break, so I took a seat on my tailgate and had some cold water.

    When I got back up to finish the job, me trusty “always cranks on the first pull” mower would not. It made a kind of a rattling sound and pulled too easily the first half of the pull before catching compression. Nothing.

    Insert Oh Woe Is Me Dialoge Here: ____________________ ! Dang it!

    (Anybody good with small engine repair? Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?)

    I was hot, already tired, sweating like a pig that had just run 26.2 miles all uphill, and disgusted with the mower so I decided to fake some of the remaining “worst looking places” with my Ryobi cordless WeedWhacker. Dead battery. Dang it!

    There was nothing left for me to do but get my trusty Ryobi backpack blower (cranked on the first pull), halfway blow the driveway and front porch and call it a day.

    Two out of three isn’t bad…
    If I was a major league baseball player I’d be making $12 Million/year. Easy.
    (And standing tall, cap off, for the playing of the National Anthem, BTW.)

    Friday, I’m off to the Citizens Marksmanship Program Depot in Anniston, Alabama to see about purchasing a genuine WWII M-1 Garand rifle. CMP is the sole distributor for US surplus M-1 Garand rifles.

    According to famed WWII General George S. Patton “the M-1 Rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.”

    I think that’s reason enough to own one.
    And in case we ever get a legit Zombie Apocalypse.

    BTW, thanks to a presidential executive order (no not Trump, signed by President Obama as he left office) 80,000 1911A1 .45 ACP semiautomatic handguns are also being sold.

    So much for common sense gun laws.

      I am certainly not good with mechanical issues — as of two weekends ago when I left it on the curb with a sign that read “FREE” my old Briggs & Stratton mower is someone else’s project.

      Curious. Do you normally restart it when hot? Have any starter fluid? Go back once it cools down and see if it doesn’t have a better attitude. My rider decided to be difficult Monday evening- idle was rough and a fair amount of black smoke (like it was running too rich). I checked the air filter and added a bit of oil (maybe a lot). And after some initial resistance, took off and completed its task.

        Good suggestions Steve — many thanks.
        The symptoms make me think it has something to do with the piston, valves, etc.

        It turns over freely and without resistance when the spark plug is removed. But seems to “catch or something” (with spark plus in) when I pull to start. Pull, kind of a clunk, then compression normal resistance.

        It might be something as simple as the rope start mechanism.

        Might be…. 🙂

          Take the plug out and turn the blade by hand. See if you can see the piston moving in the cylinder. Pull cords are pretty notorious for failing.

      small engine repair – the place we took our mower to in Marietta earlier this summer got the job done with a half way decent turnaround time. But – I’m sure you don’t want to driver up here.
      I was looking at our grass when I went home at lunch time – I think we will be working on that after work tonight.

    Today is turning out to be a “mentally down” one for me, so dinner will be made and eaten at home while I watch some Stanford classes about programming in Swift, and doing some German homework.

      I’m just annoyed today, everyone is being stupid that I have to work with.
      hopefully this is my Friday, and tomorrow will be easy………… probably wishful thinking.
