6:20am and I am in the office waiting for the coffee maker to warm up.

Hopefully coffee’s been downloaded by now. 🙂
Cup #2 of too many in progress. 😉
Went to eat before German class yesterday and as I walked up to Subway on Peachtree and 17th I discovered that it has gone out of business. While not a great loss, I am a little shocked how many restaurants in midtown have gone out of business in fewer than two years of my working at “XYZ Corpâ€.
With so many people living & working in midtown, it is always amazing who comes & goes. I always think its most likely because of the rent.
I think there needs to be at least a few places that are “faster” food, not all “a sit down with waitstaff place”.
Absolutely agreed, Barb! There have been times, especially on weekends, where I want the fast food, but don’t want to get in my car for it, so I don’t go. I suppose it’s better for my waistline that there aren’t any closer. 🙂
because sometimes I want cheaper food – adding tips can make the meal too expensive for what I want.
Pulling the lunch talk into today’s stream…
To get this under Lurker’s self-imposed deadline I will suggest
Date: Thursday, 8/30
Time: 11:45 am
Location: OK Cafe
we get lots of time to plan for this luncheon.
I should be able to be in. Allan, a big maybe (hopefully he will know if he gets to go back to a firehouse by then)
Yeah, but I like planning early and often. I’ll throw reminders out as the day nears.
Oooh I am putting this on MY calendar too! 🙂
I just put it on my calendar, too. Eeek!
You’ve got this David!
Thank you, Debbie. 👊ðŸ¼
I’ll be there! 🙌ðŸ»
Let’s be clear, “self-imposed deadline” is something you made up, Paulie. I’d be perfectly content to let this drift on out into future. 😉 I just said it would become feasible for me by August. But I’m gonna do it.
I’m sure I can make up a fake comment for a past post in which you claimed this. 🙂
Well-played. Hey, that’s it. FAKE NEWS! FAKE NEWS!! FAKE NEWS!!!
this made me LOL.
we might need a bigger table!!
That’d be good, it’ll give me something bigger to crawl under. 😉 😉 😉
Please include me in the OK Cafe lunch, for planning porpoises. <– yes I did that on porpoise.

Allan is working an event at the Buckhead Theatre tonight- anyone know who/what Steel Panther – Sunset Strip Live is?
Allan decided to redo my closet while I was in Iowa- its great, but I have just piles of clothes to organize (he was smart enough to not try to put them back in the closet).
So I think tonight I’ll try to figure out where to put all my clothes.
No idea.
I would go bananas if someone redid my clothing system without consulting me. Maybe that helps explain while I am 53 and unmarried?
Hahahaha it’s so cute y’all have clothing systems.
(says the girl who can never find anything) 😉
Is it really a system? well – it does have more shelves & baskets (I’m not sure I’m all that keen on the baskets – they seem to waste space).
And – I realized I have more shoes than I thought, many that are going into the donation pile.
I saw the before and after pics though, Barb! It looks amazing. 🙂
we will see how amazing it looks once I figure out how to arrange everything, But – there is more room now – guess I need to go shopping!!
Allan really did himself a disservice, I always say I don’t have more room, so I have to get rid of something when I get something new. Now I won’t have to.
so I looked it up – Steel Panther is some sort of Spinal Tap Rock music type of show.
I see why Allan took this gig, could be entertaining – and he gets paid to go see it.
Getting comfortably numb. More later.

Who’s bringing the flask to the lunch? OK Cafe doesn’t have a liquor license last I checked. 😉
we have many flasks for many different liquors – what flavor would you like?
Tequila is my poison of choice. Probably won’t mix with anything OK Cafe has on offer though. Maybe something that a milkshake can get spiked with.
Unrelated: I saw a billboard for organic beer the other day. Really? I mean, I’m down with eating organic food, but if I’m imbibing alcohol, I’m not sure if it matters if it’s “organic” alcohol or not. It’s all toxic. Which doesn’t slow me down one bit. 🙂
there are tons of organic wines now – haven’t really tasted much of a difference, but the ones I’ve tried have been good.
But- I do tend to drink not the super cheap wine anymore, I can tell the difference there (or for sure I can tell the next day)
True that, I second your opinion there on bargain wine. Earlier I meant to say “Tequila is my poison of choice from a flask”, I’m an IPA nut in general. I did go through a weird stage of being burned out on beer a few months ago for the first time in my life, and switched to wine for a while, but whatever that was has gone away and I’m back to IPAs.
IPAs definitely don’t mix with milkshakes in my book.
OK Cafe sells beer and wine, errrr…so I heard from a friend. 🙂

Score! I haven’t been there in a *long* time, I usually can’t bear the lines, especially because there are so many other options.
We go to OK Cafe, errr….”frequently”. 🙂
Even though it may seem crowded upon arrival, even with a full waiting area, it never takes us more than 10-15 minutes (tops) to get a booth.
When lunch plans are complete, I can plan to arrive early and secure a booth for the “X” of us. Probably in the Money Tree Room.
I’m presuming Paulie is the point man, guy, errrr….person?
Paulie, I can swing by and get you/Steve as before, if desired.
(Uber charges apply….)

John, I figured your frequent flyer status there would help us cut through the lunchtime crowd. 🙂
I think I’m available. There is a slight chance I’ll be back in New Orleans.
Root Canal done in an hour. Now drugged up and chillaxing. No pain meds taken. Another nap is in order.
FYI: If I counted correctly, I have the following for lunch (Thur, 8/30, 11:45am at OK Cafe):
– Paulie
– Barbara
– Allan (a strong maybe)
– Stacy
– ITP Lurker (AKA, David)
– Bonnie
– (Steve?)
– (Debbie?)
– HamWithCam
I count….9.
Did I miss anyone?

Current status:
“And you may ask yourself
Am I right? Am I wrong?
And you may say yourself, “My God! What have I done?”
I actually *sang* this in my head, Lurker. 🙂
Which, incidentally, I’ll still call you if we meet. Because you’ll always be Lurker to me. xo
Thank you, Stacy. 🙂 Rest assured, I fully expect to be called Lurker in perpetuity. I’ve have most definitely brought that on myself. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Can’t wait to hear your David Byrne accent. 😉
Debbie is a definite maybe.
