Nineteen years of living on my street I think only three houses have gone up for sale. Soon two will be on the market at the same time — mine not being one of those.

    I cooked up a storm last night, preparing nearly all my pre-camping meals. At the same time I made:

    • a large pot of vegetarian chili on the stovetop
    • two sweet potatoes in my toaster oven
    • a batch of honey bourbon chicken in the Instant Pot

    It will be interesting to watch your neighbors sell. Don’t hesitate to get a look inside- it will give you an idea of what the market is like and what might be required to sell yours.

      This morning I thought “I should go into that house to see how it looks inside”. It’s not a ranch like mine, but it’ll still be interesting to see.

      Since most of you know where I live, here’s the Zillow listing for 1339 Milton Place SE.

      #1 – Holy Shit, it’s listed for $345k. It doesn’t even have an orange bar! Though to be fair it probably has fully-functioning plumbing.
      #2 – I live on “one of the best streets in EAV!”

      Nah, I got overzealous grocery shopping and needed to cook stuff before it went bad. That, and I was in a shitty mood yesterday and preoccupying my mind by cooking helped.

    So we get a letter from our mortgage company yesterday, that our payment will be $250 higher effective May 1. WTF!?!

    Turns out it’s a one time adjustment to escrow, but that sure wasn’t how it was written. A few more gray hairs thanks to their poor communication ability.

    The pollen is killing me! I love winter … stop all the plant sex.

      Once I was able to, I took control of paying my own insurance because I hated the bank telling me how much they wanted in escrow.

        Our goal is to refi with the additional property down to a 15 year and get rid of the F’ing PMI that you must have for the duration of the loan. Ugh.

      A friend turned me onto this new antihistamine recently: http://www.xyzal.com/ It seems to work much more effectively than anything else out there, for me at least. The saving grace to aging for me has been my allergies are a fraction of what they used to be. I used to concoct some godawful OTC cocktails because I’d quickly develop a tolerance to all of the allergy meds. I eventually swore all of that shit off, and amazingly things got better. But I do still need meds sometimes, and so Xyzal is my new go-to.

      Bummer about the mortgage surprise. Hopefully they’re over-estimating what your insurance and property taxes will be and you’ll get at least some of that back next year.

        Actually, it’s just a one month adjustment, but it wasn’t stated as such in the letter.

        I’m finding as I age I am more affected by allergies- I never recall having any reaction when I was younger (20’s and 30’s) and I was riding my bike easily a 100 miles a week or more. Or running a lot.

          That makes much more sense. I was wondering how the hell your taxes or insurance could have suddenly spiked like that out there in the boonies.

          I’m grateful my allergies have abated…it totally amped up the godawfulness of my existence. I wish you the best of luck with yours. At least allergy meds have advanced over the decades. Back in the day most OTC stuff would make me lay down on the floor and go to sleep (I literally did a few times).

    my escrow changes every year – sometimes I get a fairly big check because we paid to much, sometimes it goes up so the payment changes.
