The Olympics Haven’t Even Started, But I Have Already Medaled
This brings me so much joy that I had to pin it to my backpack.

It’s weird how much I want that. 🙂

  2. Barb says:

well – I talked to a recruiter yesterday- about a job that may not be perfect – but not to far away from me. So- I think I will interview, just because I have no idea how to interview. I think it may be too much sales, but still…….. you never know until you talk to them- right?

Trying to get ready to go to Florida on Friday. This is the most unplanned I’ve ever been. wish we’d have already left, seeing the rocket launch would have been cool.

    • Stacy says:

Smart, Barb! Because it’s probably been forever since you’ve interviewed? God, I hope I never have to interview again. But in your case at least it’s cool – you already have a job, so that helps too. Less stress going in.

    • Yeah, I hope not to interview again any time soon.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Absolutely, unequivocally take the interview. It’ll help you start to coalesce your thoughts. There’s also nothing ventured, nothing gained, and all that, but just consider this a chance to get a practice run in.

    • Also, I will add that I have read many resumes and can be good at catching spelling/grammar errors (though you may not believe so from the mistakes I make in this space). So, if you want an extra set of eyes to read it, you know where to find me.

      • Barb says:

Since I’ve never actually looked for a job, since I was about 25, I figure any interview is good practice.
I know I have no typos on the resume………. I have checked it & checked it many times. (and -I can’t type it seems anymore, so I know I mess up)

Go Barb!!! New job and not G. U.!!!

And I want a sticker that says “Got waxed and didn’t cry”. I laughed out loud.

I thought we had all the dogs in last night, so I pushed the door closed tight. Imagine my surprise when I went to let Brown out with me this morning and he wasn’t in the bedroom!! Poor Brown spent the night on the porch where Lily frequently sleeps. Glad it wasn’t cold. I loved on him and apologized profusely.

Shovelling out 2 weeks of email. Oh. What. Fun.

OH OH OH!!!! The Ben Hilton closed yesterday!!!!!! I had thought it was today, but my sis called last night and I’m picking up my cut after work today!

    • Stacy says:

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Congrats on the Ben Hilton, Steve!
And, wow. That’s a good pup. Had it been my neighbor’s, it would have *barked all night long*. (don’t even get me started on barking dogs in the neighborhood)

      • Steve says:

Brown doesn’t generally bark much- only if someone else starts. Lily, however, just wants to let people know she’s on patrol… Tuesday morning, it was about 02:00.

      • Barb says:

Brownie used to LOVE being outside, but now that you’ve tamed him………

Congrats on the Ben Hilton! Did you & sis split it 50/50?

    • ITP Lurker says:

Congratulations on being able to simplify your life, Steve. I’ve had pets spend unplanned nights outside as well. Well, and there’s the time our male orange tabby went on a 30-day walkabout, and we got a new kitten in the interim to replace him…but he came back, and so all’s been well ever since with our clowder of 3.

Pro tip: Recruiters are the “car salesmen” of the employment world.

    • John is right. No matter what shape you are, you fit in every hole a recruiter has to fill. I phone screened with Delta, only to find out that they were looking for a senior Android Developer — spoiler alert, I have never written an Android app, and my resume has no mention of it. 😡

      Very nice photo, Ham.

      • Steve says:

What Paulie said, John- very pretty.

I had a recruiter set me up for an interview with Worldspan (might still operate the Delta airlines network). Looked to me like they were looking for a programmer in an area I was an operator of the app. I told the guy 3 times. The headhunter said “No… you’re the perfect fit!!”. I was right, they were looking for a programmer- wasted my time, their time and hopefully they never dealt with that headhunter again.

    • Barb says:

yes- I know what recruiters are all about.

  5. This just in! I heard the pins can be purchased in Decatur at a shop called “Sq/Ft”.
