Grumble, Grumble, Grumble

I’m frustrated today. Of course I am, it’s a day that ends in ‘y’. For the past few days technology has been throwing roadblocks, or maybe just annoying speed humps, in my path that I’ve been forced to handle.

I will stew in my own pity for the remainder of today and hope to have better things about which to discuss tomorrow.

May your day be prosperous.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I hope your day gets better.

I’ve spoken to my friend/coworker/crazy coonass that lives in Lake Charles, LA (which is where Harvey came ashore again this morning). He has another foot of water, but isn’t worried. He has plenty of fuel and ammo, so is ready.

The mechanics are finally ordering a computer for the car! Apparently, national support said “what the hell, why not?”. Hopefully they ordered it late yesterday and Fed Ex will do their magic and get it in quick.

A bit of a ride on the trainer last night. Still recovering from the crud last week.

    Stay dry.

    “technology has been throwing roadblocks”
    Yeah?
Pro tip: “If it was easy we could get just anybody to do it….”

In others news, my (very) brief affair with 3D printing has come to a screeching halt. Apparently, the filament jammed, and the extruder stepper motor stopped working. I was hoping it was (simply) the stepper motor, but alas, it appears to be the control board. I swapped cables for the E(xtruder) motor with the Z(axis) motor and the problem followed. Bad board.

“He’s dead Jim…” <– bonus point for reference

My heart (and some modest donations) goes out to the thousands of folks impacted by Harvey. Hot mess, best case. Water is one of, if not the most, destructive forces in nature.

You know, being prepared is a wonderful thing. As a career "IT guy", it's just what I do. I consider myself (much) more prepared than most. Happy to discuss "what you ought to have on hand, in case" (home and car, with lists) if there is any interest.

Make it a great Wednesday es 73 de JG/HamWithCam

My buddy is basically a “prepper” and has vehicles for both land, sea, and the in-between of the swamps of South LA. Know what a Rokon is? We’ve told him when IT hits the fan, we’re coming to his house!!

…good luck getting to his house!

speaking of Harvey – my friend that was visiting Monday, used to live in Houston in The Heights. they have talked to a few friends – there’s even water in the higher spots.
she hated moving to New Jersey, but right now she isn’t hating the move quite as much.

Not that I would be watching the Vuelta and not working (multitasking!) but with 8km to go on a mountaintop finish, “Coverage has concluded.”!!!! Wow, if I were actually paying for this, I’d be pissed!! 🙂
