Scrambling For My Sanity

Yesterday was a tough day. I questioned my sanity on more than one occasion. While this behavior is not unusual for me, yesterday’s queries were far more serious than those in the past.

I am swamped at work as well. The blog is “late” this morning because I’ve already attended two meetings this morning.

A Show About Nothing Earned Us Nothing
Crap, Meet The Hashers went down in a blaze of shame last night. We bet the farm on the final question and out-thunk ourselves.

Q: What’s the last tv sitcom to end its run as the top rated show?
Our answer was “The Beverly Hillbillies,” we were obviously wrong.
The correct answer was “Seinfeld.”

On two occasions (including the final answer) my gut had the right answer, but I was not confident enough to force the issue. I can’t complain however, as without the knowledge of my teammates I’d never have a chance of coming in first place.

ITP Flickr Pic
This section may be changing names soon. It seems that Flickr has decided to force all users to their new homepage design. I hate the new homepage design. So, I am seeking a new service on which to park my photos. Suggestions anyone? I’ll keep my Flickr account because I have many friends with whom I’d like to remain in contact, but I will stop uploading photos to the site.

Engulfed
And apparently I lied yesterday when I said that yesterday’s shot would be the last from Saturday’s excursion. You see, I’ve not taken a single photo since…

Don’t Do It For The Kids, Do It For The Trees
Tomorrow Trees Atlanta is having their annual tree sale. Once again trees will be sold from 8:00am to 2:00pm in Piedmont Park. Get there early (like before 8:00am) if you want the best selection.

As For Me I Still Don’t Know Where I’ll Be This Weekend
Well, tonight I know that I’ll be darkening the halls of Woodruff Arts Center for the Magnetic Fields concert.

Depending on my plumbing issues, packing abilities, and sleep I may be headed to Brevard, NC early in the morning. If I don’t make that trip, then it’s highly likely that I’ll be somewhere in the metro-Atlanta area, like Arabia mountain, taking photos.

Running? What’s That?
It’s with a heavy heart that I admit that I have not run in what seems to be an eternity (Sunday’s hash was the closest thing to running). It doesn’t appear that there will be any running today, but regardless of where I wind up tomorrow I plan to do something.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – okay, but still frustrated
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Secret Machines — “Atomic Heels”
Website Of The DayCurse Bird combines two of my favorite hobbies, tweeting and cursing.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing and I still manage to strain my knees
Monthly Foot Mileage – 32 miles
Monthly Wheel Mileage – 0 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – my car
Monthly Marta Rides – 0
Consecutive Days Of Bed-Making (Longest Streak) – 33 (110)
Books To Read To Earn Kindle – 4
Vegetarian Days – 11
Carnivore Days – 5

October Goals
1) Lose no fewer than three pounds
2) Drink nothing but water, coffee, beer, wine
3) Run no fewer than 75 miles
4) Bike no fewer than 125 miles

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I saw the new Flickr layout this morning and HATE IT too! WTF?!

See, I actually PAY for Flickr (with the Pro account…like a lot of us who want more space do…) — shouldn’t I be able to keep what I want then? Like, I know people hate the new Facebook, right? (I joined after the change so I never knew the original)…. but shoot, at least they’re not paying to use the new one.

I’m very annoyed by this. To whom can we bitch?

  2. Look at me, I’m sitting in *another* meeting.

I’ll give an update to Flickr alternatives soon. I paid up through next July and plan to go unpaid afrterward.

There is supposed to be a complaint blog, but I’ve not investigated yet.

  3. Gentri says:

I’m sure it was all done in the name of progress… the networking aspect may save them, as I do like being able to look at folks photos when they post new one… meh, never thought it was overly intuitive the old way anyway!

Let us know other good sites quick, as I have to re-up in 5 days!

What’s the story on the pipe repair????

  4. Initial plumbing problem fixed. More may be in the works. Gentri, I plan to talk to you soon. (Although I’ll OTP a few days next week)

  5. I feel like today’s blog entry is extremely weak. I apologize to you all.

  6. Stacy says:

You’re forgiven. 😉 How about we eat Chinese on Monday?

  7. Martha says:

The change to the flickr home page doesn’t bother me as much as the change they did to iGoogle yesterday. For the past two days, I’ve been in some sort of weird fog and these changes are not helping.

I’ll be running (alot) this weekend, skipped boot camp again this morning (actually got there, turned around and when back home).

  8. Jenka says:

I’m running first thing tomorrow if anyone wants to join. I’ve got brunch at 10, so I’ll be out between 8:00-9:00. Ish. I can give my cell if necessary.

  9. Martha says:

Jenka, how long are you going? I’ve been debating bootcamp, Run Like Hell or just running. If you’re going out that might be the easiest for me.

  10. I wish that I could run with you two, but alas where ever I do my run tomorrow I will be much slower than you two can handle so it would be like running alone anyway.

  11. Martha says:

@Paulie, blah, blah, blah, you can run with us, you *have* run with us…your head just isn’t in it right now for some reason.

If you don’t go north this weekend and want to run, I will run with you. Maybe we can break in those new shoes of yours?

PWD mentioned he was going to do the Sunday run, but no word since then. No biggie.

  12. @Martha: Me think it’s more my knees and lungs being my limitations, not my head. Although I will admit the mind has drifted due to the other ailments.

If I don’t go OTP tomorrow I’ll catch up with you (figuratively, of course).

  13. Jenka says:

I’m thinking 5-6 miles. I will Facebook my cell number, just in case you (Martha OR Paulie, heh) decide to come with.

Paulie, you’re usually WAY ahead of me. You could come along and go “slowly” by staying at my speed!

  14. Evan says:

did you end up getting the new macbook? Maybe you could run to Lenox and knock out some miles at the same time. loving mine so far, but I think TATTOPITW is suffering for it. spent so much time getting it set up that life has gone on hold…

    – synchronizing weight loss and mileage goals –

    – ERROR –

    well, I tried.

  15. I’ve yet to pull the trigger on a new Macbook. I’m leaning toward getting a refurbished MB over the new and improved in order to save $400-$500. My house has had its own ideas on how my money should be spent, so I’m waffling big time on a lot of things these days.
