If you are reading this blog post on Friday, as you naturally should be, then you are reading day-old content. Today, Friday, is an extremely busy day for me.
Early today, from 8:00-10:00, I will be attending Creative Mornings Atlanta which is being held at Woodruff Arts Center.
I will be returning home to get my daily exercise after Creative Mornings, and the getting prepared for my next appointment…
I have an in-person interview at 3:00pm. *hoping to nail this, because there is a lot riding on this interview for me*
After my interview I will be driving up to Sandy Springs to meet up with some former coworkers for a happy hour / dinner at Chuy’s.
So there you go, that’s why you are getting stale content.
Sofar, So Good
Last night’s Sofar Sounds show was held at Brick+Mortar which is in the White Provisions building at the intersection of 14th and Howell Mill. We were treated to one comedian and three musical acts, including Atlanta’s own Von Grey who I last saw as an opening act way back in 2014. The comedy was decent and the music was really good.
Prior to the show I hustled over to Yeah! Burger where I had a burger and fries. Unfortunately for me my burger was cooked rarer than I care for and I didn’t have time to send it back.
Here’s the strangest thing that happened last night, no, I didn’t talk to any women, I bought a six-pack of beer and decided to leave it in the car and not drink. Whoa, what has happened to me?
Lipstick On A Pig
Because I am on a spending freeze and am not buying a replacement iPad a Mini fro the one whose screen I shattered months ago, yesterday I decided to replace the Saran Wrap that has encased it since the incident with a screen “protector”. The goal is to keep the shattered glass glued together, and to protect my fingers from shattered glass while I use it. The $8 screen protector is much cheaper than the alternatives of replacing the glass screen (~$200) or buying a newer iPad Mini (~$400).
I Can’t Get A Hit Because I Don’t Step Up To The Plate
A baseball metaphor about women, how original.
It happened again last night, Captain Confidentless had no game. While I definitely plan to visit Torched Hop Brewing Company tomorrow for their “Girls Pint Out” event at which I expect to be as welcome as I was the night I was in the same bar as the “Chicks, No Dicks” hash in 2006 (scared much?), I am going only to drink some beer samples and hopefully hang out with ITP-Stacy for a while.
Fortune Cookie Chronicles
Former professional cyclist and current cycling broadcaster Bob Rolle has started reading a fortune cookie fortune in his YouTube stream. Since I used to put my latest fortune cookie fortune in the now-defunct right-hand galley, I’m going to do this today:
This year your highest priority will be your family.
Huh, not what I was expecting.
And because we can all use a little more happiness in our life here’s a video of a Corgi wearing a propeller hat in wind:
(sorry about the popup ads, that’s Google/YouTube and not me)
Have a great weekend.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Best of luck with the interview this afternoon. I have no doubt you’ll impress the hell out of them.
Debbie is already off to a meeting this morning and I am about to go out and feed horses then head to the feed store. Hopefully a bike ride later when it warms up.
Tomorrow evening we have a birthday party to attend for one of Debbie’s horsey pals. Tthat’s all that’s on my schedule.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Awesome, Paulie! I’ll let you know when I’m headed that way tomorrow, most likely around 1pm.
if I can talk Allan into doing something in town tomorrow, I’ll let you guys know.
I saw a different brewery (I can’t remember which one, it was on FB) was giving away or selling a GA Craft beer t-shirt tomorrow. Thought it might be fun to have since I have an Iowa Craft Beer t-shirt. I wonder of all the breweries will have them -since is it GA Craft Beer Day!
Allan has his verbal LT test Sunday, but everyone is so annoyed, the City has not put out the pertinent info as of last night, like where it will take place, what time, the schedule etc. I see many, many, many grievances being filed on Monday, so who knows when this process will ever be over. Gov’t anything is so mis-managed. It is truly amazing.
JoAnna & I are talking about going on a hike somewhere this weekend – but that is the extent of our planning so far.
A few pro tips for today’s 3:00pm interview:
– if anybody offers to shake hands, pull yours back suddenly and shout “Gotcha!”
– ask an HR person if the company has an “employee directory”. You know, so you can use it to, errr…”make new friends”
– ask everybody repeatedly “What’s my salary?” and “Can I have a desk by the hot chick on 6?”
– never volunteer knowledge of audio/visual equipment
– take copious notes. If asked about it, reply “Oh, it’s just in case there’s a lawsuit…”
– Before departing, tell everybody what a fun time you had and ask if you can have a “to go” cup.
“But, seriously folks…”
Knock ’em dead…

JG – you just made me LOL this morning.
Best of luck this afternoon Paul!
I’ll be writing and editing all weekend to meet my Monday deadline for the next issue of the magazine. I’m really loving this job!! Just wish it was lucrative.
Ugh. I wish I were at my post-summer-riding weight, because my clothes and I are not getting along today. 😡
You are a software developer nerd, you should be going to the interview in shorts and flip flops
Good luck with the interview, knock em dead.
I wish it had been stipulated that I could dress casually. Everything is tight, even after working out for three straight weeks, and wearing a tie was not an option today. If this costs me a job I will have plenty of incentive to start a hunger strike.
And I am going out to dinner with former coworkers afterward, guess who will be eating next to nothing…
Well?
is it s full moon? all the shippers & drivers in CA are totally insane today.
I was hoping to go home on time, but I”m not sure right now.
I think it’s the dark of the moon…
Finished after an hour. I wasn’t perfect, but think I did well. The ball is in their court.x
Woot!
Of course I am nervous… but now it’s beer time! Pants be damned!
I want a beer……… I’m still at work – but out of here soon!
Allan finally got the email from CoA – test is now 2/20.
Maybe we can come out & play tomorrow now.
