An Unprecedented Amount Of Sleep

Not sure what got into me last night / this morning, but at 9:37am I am finally getting up. Sure, I was awake a few times during the night but I am finally feeling rested enough to move on. I wish that I were inspired to go to LA Fitness

An Expensive Lunch
I like Ponce City Market. Even though I was overwhelmed with Mailchimp’s office space I might even like to work there, you know, and raise their average age considerably. However, I would certainly not be able to eat lunch inside Ponce City Market often.

An aside: Where does Atlanta make all of its money. Even when I had a well-paying job I never felt comfortable spending the kind of cash I see others spending. They must have much more than I do.

Regardless, Hank, Joe, and I met up at former Top Chef Cheftestant Hector Santiago’s restaurant El Super Pan. Don’t bother clicking on the link, you will only see this today.

Value Of A Website Today?

I was going to complain about the $20 I spent for a sandwich, side of Salvadorian cole slaw, and a “Mexican” Coke, but apparently they aren’t even making enough money to keep their website alive.

Ready To Change In 2017
For nine months I have been saddled with this lump on my eyelid. It has gotten worse over time so yesterday after lunch I made an appointment at Eye Physicians & Surgeons on Scott Boulevard. The receptionist at their counter told me I had last been there two years ago, and set me up with an appointment on January 3rd with the same doctor. Hopefully things will go smoothly, as everyone else seems to ensure that it will.

Nothing Else To Say
That’s all I have for today. The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always kinda a dead week for me, let the tradition continue!

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Went over to the Franco Fire Pit last night with a bunch of the GUTS people, they are always an entertaining group.

Trying to figure out a way to get to Iowa next week for a couple days, my aunt passed away on Christmas. Its been a long road for her, she’s been paralyzed in a wheelchair for 35+ years, and her body finally just couldn’t take it anymore. She’s in a much better place. So, I go to Delta’s website – $600+ for a ticket. I called, talked to a very nice rep about using a Delta companion ticket, can’t make it work, those have plenty of restrictions that they can’t get around. All you get with the bereavement fare is the ability to make changes to the ticket, not really any discount on the price. So, trying to pull the trigger, and I wanted Allan to come along too, so that’s going to be almost $1300. Yikes for 2 days. I could probably make it cheaper not flying direct, but not much cheaper, or to another airport, but that wastes so much time.

My condolences, Barb. I am bothered that bereavement tickets aren’t super-cheap but I sure so many people would attempt to scam the airlines if they were. Good luck working things out.

Sorry to hear about your aunt Barb.

I was going to make my debut at the Foxhunt this morning on my cyclocross bike but the neighbor had a horse die and Debbie whored me out to run the tractor to help them buried the horse. We didn’t really bury her but covered her with dirt on till they can actually dig a hole.

While trying to help the neighbor I determined that my tractor is sick. Seems to be a fuel related issue and I’m gonna start with changing out the fuel filter.

Off to play with my tractor.

I love it when a plan comes together. A 2 minute replacement of the fuel filter and Mahindra is running like a top.

I join you in your curiosity about how most Atlantans afford places like Ponce City Market. It seems super overpriced to me. Maybe lots of customers there are just living beyond their means.

Thinking about this makes me think about all the luxury apartments going up across the city. One-bedroom apartments are going for $1,300 (cheapest model) for previously sketchy parts of Memorial Drive. Feels like we are starting to price “normal people” out of this city.

Well, now…. sorry for the soapbox.

  6. I looked into The Alexa in EAV and while I *can* afford I have no desire to do so.

Sitting at Kro-Bar, have to enjoy the perks of unemployment while I can.

Barb, I am so sorry to hear about your Aunt.

You know where these kids get their money? Their parents. Or they’re still living at home not paying a single bill so, hey, $20 lunches every day is no big deal at all.
