Today Was Supposed To Be “Basement Day”

My goal today was to start working on the basement, moving some things from upstairs to the basement, and collecting some things that need to be given to Goodwill. All that changed yesterday afternoon when I finally relented to have the leaves in the yard raked by a local resident who has approached me multiple times in the last month. I only had four leaf bags in the basement, not nearly enough to get the job done. So this morning afternoon, I will be going to Lowe’s to buy more bags. I am supposed to call the guy to come back to finish the job for which I gave him $20, but I just may use this as an excuse to get exercise today…

After Three Drinks I Was Only Half Done
I got about half of my Christmas cards written out last night. With the completion of my third beer I convinced myself to hold off writing the rest until tonight.

It's That Time Of Year
It should come as no surprise that I am once again sending out Frank Lloyd Wright themed Christmas cards.

Eyeing Things Up
This afternoon I will to going back to Colony Square, this time for my annual eye exam. While I am there I am going to inquire about the lump on my eyelid, as well as ask my optometrist if he can recommend an ophthalmologist. Even though the thought of having someone look at, and perhaps perform a medical procedure on, my eyelid scares the shit out of me I think that it behooves me to do this.

What Am I Doing This Weekend?
I’m not sure yet.

I know that I am not going to, and may not even be spending the time watching, the SEC Championship Game. I just can’t imagine Florida having any chance of beating Alabama.

It’s unlikely that I will be re-launching my street hockey career on Sunday because as I write this the weather forecast is a high of 48°F and 100% chance of rain.

Whatever you have in mind I hope that it makes for a great weekend.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Allan got a ride home from the station. so I didn’t have to get up super early & driver to the city – that was a win for me!

I decided to finish working on cleaning out the fridge – made a turkey broccoli casserole for dinner tonight – since we will be staining tonight. (I blew the staining off last night)
Sal came over to watch Survivor – didn’t hear enough about her backpackign weekend.

Weekend – Saturday will be pretty much work on the basement -& then dinner at a firends house.

Sunday evening – if anyone wants to venture to the Stone Mtn area – Peter Mayer (lead guitarist for Buffett) is doing his annual Christmas concert at Smoke Ride Baptist church at 7pm. It’s a fun evening of original Christmas songs with a very talented band. 7pm is the start time.

Christmas cards might be on the weekend agenda too – they need to be……..

  2. Because I can, here’s a bonus image for today:
    Heritage USA (1983)

I spent about thirty minutes in the basement doing some rudimentary cleaning and found this ornament down there. 🙂

let me guess – you just have the 1st of the series?

    Yep

Just back for a lazy walk around the auction yard. Too many people around to crank up a bulldozer and take it for a spin. Nothing much in the timed lots- the do small lots like tools and such as timed auctions. The auction is over at a specific time and you bid online. I’ve bid on a few things before but never won.

A little yard work then a bike ride this afternoon. Paulie, they are having trainer workouts at Outback on Thursday evenings led by one of the local pros. For $15 you get to sweat with company.

    Have a great weekend!

After dropping off more stuff at Goodwill, buying LEAF bags at Home Depot, and stamps at the post office I am lunching at this little, unknown place called “George’s Bar” in The Highlands.

  7. Steve says:

Never heard of it. Tell GG I said hello.

  8. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I don’t recognize anyone working, which is not surprising given how few times I make it here these days.

  9. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I am now at the Chamblee Public library, which I have discovered closes at 5pm. I have been dealing with all sorts of bodily issues today. I may need to completely change my lifestyle in order to get through my remaining years.

And I nearly got into afender bender because I couldn’t figure out where the hell the lanes were when I got off 85 at Clairmont. I need to get out of this city…

  11. Barb says:

    aren’t you having a good day…………

hey – would you (or any of you ITP readers) be interested in doing a Ponce City Market Food tour – or an Inman Park Food tour?

you can buy a gift certificate for 15% off right now
    http://foodtoursatlanta.com/
    use Holidayfun2017 for the 15% off – expires 1/1/17

trying to decide if I should buy 2 for TJ & Mary for Christmas (& 2 for me & Allan)

but then – I need to decide which tour to take………
maybe I need to buy both.

  12. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Good? Meh. Optometrist sold me a heat mask to attempt to reduce eyelid swelling. He says to try it for a month and if that doesn’t work he can recommend an ophthalmologist.

Food tours look good. I am interested depending on the date you go… So you have to decide when you purchase or is it open-ended until the expiration date?

  13. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

And here is my final thing for the weekend… I tried to join an online dating service, I won’t mention which, but their website was so horrific that I aborted my effort. I can’t imagine the women I’d meet on a service so poorly run…

    True story.

I am off to drink beer with Hank at Lucky’s (Brookhaven). Have a great weekend!

  14. Barb says:

I’m going to buy gift certificates – so you can decide on the date later & apply them later.

  15. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Okay. I will look at this again and let you know what I do. Thanks!
