I Feel Like Starting Over

After week’s worth of unwanted results/diagnoses I hit a low yesterday that I tried, but failed, all day to pull myself out of.

Weekend Start
After hanging with friends for a few beers and dinner on Friday night I drove over to Terminal West for the Bob Mould concert. I was amazed how many more people were in attendance at the Atlanta show when compared to the Athens show the night before.

As seen in the bathroom of the Georgia Theater on Thursday night.

I was having a(nother) lazy day on Saturday, doing little more than driving the M6 a few miles to recycle styrofoam at the City of Atlanta’s mostly electronics recycling day. I decided to not waste my morning by taking the M6 back to the dealership to looking into the TMPS indicator. Later in the afternoon I started my drive up to Marietta to hang out at ITP-Reader Barb’s house and the damn TMPS indicator went off again — the third time in three successive days — while I was driving up I75. I spent parts of the weekend researching this problem, and even went as far to check the air pressure in all tires, including the spare tire, on Sunday morning. The spare is low, but I think that the TPMS is part of the braking system and not built into each tire, so that shouldn’t matter. However, today I will pump up the spare regardless when I go out to get gas. The next time it goes off the M6 is going into the dealership for an explanation.

Weekend End
As I mentioned yesterday I hit a low. The low may have been triggered by the cooler, gray day, or any number of things. I tried to convince myself to go to the Black Sheep Hash, but just couldn’t get motivated. It seems that many of the decisions I have made recently have backfired so staying home seemed like the best plan.

And then I made lunch.

It’s far from tragic when you knock your lunch onto your dirty kitchen floor. However I was bummed that this was the only hotdog bun that I had left in the house.

And finally, all of the NFL teams that I wanted to win yesterday — Jets, Packers, Falcons — lost.

Looking Back In Order To Look Forward
On Saturday night I heard that there was a photo that included me on BRAG’s website from this year’s BRAG Spring Tune Up. I looked at the BRAG site and not only saw the photo mentioned, but I found this one as well:

Who's That Studly Gator In The Background?
Why that’s me hanging out in the background wearing my Gators kit.

As I mentioned last week I’ve already registered for next year’s BRAG Spring Tune Up, and am really looking forward to it.

Where Do I Go From Here?
I’m not sure. I am trying to hold out hope that I can improve things starting today. I should have at least one fun lunch this week if I can manage to schedule one with ITP-Readers Stacy and Steve.

Definitely lunch. 🙂 Wednesday & Thursday both still look good for me.

  2. Fantastic! Things are looking better already! Steve, how does Wednesday work for you?

  3. Stacy says:

And, once again: have car – can travel. So it doesn’t have to be downtown. I’d just prefer some place where I don’t have to pay for parking. I *LOATHE* paying for parking.

  4. Ditto. I also loathe valet parking, though I accidentally picked a place last t only had valet parking. D’Oh!

Slept late this morning — 8:15. Had breakfast, secured my Creative Mornings for Friday morning, did an easy Tuesday NYT crossword puzzle, and am now going to get my day started…

    good weekend –
Saturday morning we headed up to the Gill North America sale near Lake Lanier – I did really good by only purchasing a couple things, Allan was the shopper of this trip. We found him 2 nice short sleeved grey checked cotton shirts for $5 each, so that was the steal of the day. He also got a very nice lighter weight wind breaker as well, wasn’t super cheap, but it will work perfectly for him on his motorcycle.

Michelle came in Saturday afternoon, we did a short hike, went to the end of the Pine Lake hash to socialize, had people over for dinner on the deck.
Sunday went to a nice little place on the Marietta Square for breakfast, Michelle then headed tothe airport.
I then joined some Parrotheads for Falcons watching at The Wing, Becky swears they always lose when she watches at the The Wing, so we all know she won’t be going there on game day again. Good times catching up with some of them though.

Funny coincidence of the day Sunday, Stacy & Aron were at Loco Willie’s getting free Miller Lites from the same girls that were giving up free Miller Lites maybe an hour before at The Wing. FREE BEER (even when it is Miller Lite) is good!!!

Wednesday looks good for me as well.

Friday was a day for raking. I built a box that fits into the bucket of the front end loader on my tractor. The purpose was to pickup and carry raked leaves, or any other light debris. It worked pretty well, but I realized I could have made it even bigger. I already have ideas for box 2.0.

Saturday was the opening hunt- a mostly ceremonial affair with the blessing of the hounds and a lot of pictures. The plan was to see if I could get some good shots, but I was driving a tractor (pulling one of the 9 (!) party wagons) that had no storage. The pics I posted on social media were just from my phone. Saturday evening, a party for some of the hunt folks that helped out at the owner of the property. Debbie had gotten a second wind, but I was still dragging. No telling how late she would have stayed, but her boat anchor of a husband was pooped and ready to call it a night.

Sunday, we got rolling at a leisurely hour- me for 16 or so on the cross bike. Then a little Mexican lunch, and Debbie headed off to see her dad. We also picked up our flatbed trailer (used for the party wagon) and it was still attached to the tractor I drove. I had an idea where I wanted to leave the tractor after I unhitched, but realized I didn’t know where to find reverse! New plan worked fine too.

Lunch options around me are all Stacy’s Midtown options- Stacy, if you wanted to hop on MARTA, Steamhouse is an easy walk from the station, as well all the usual suspects on Crescent. I’m also open to heading downtown.

  7. Stacy/Steve – you two hash out (see what I did there?) the time/location on Wednesday and I will be there.

  8. Stacy says:

Claire (Blue Ball Special) would be able to join us Wednesday too, but she needs to be around downtown (but says not to plan around her).

If y’all are still interested in trying Aviva, might I suggest that? Peachtree Center Mall food court.

  9. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Aviva looks good to me. I will most likely MARTA downtown and meet you there.

  10. bob says:

Your TPMS light is most likely your spare, I had the same problem on my Toyota truck. Top off the spare and you should be light free.

Super fun Cross race yesterday at Serenbe, Peachtree Bikes puts on a good party with 3 kegs and a huge heckle zone. There was a collegiate race in the morning and some kids stuck around for the afternoon races, I got lapped by the Cat 1 female on lap 3. Still good times, good handups, and funny as hell heckling.

Next Sunday is the Burrito Armageddon race in town https://www.eventbrite.com/e/3rd-annual-thanksgiving-burrito-armageddon-triathlon-tickets-28966727261
Last year was fun as hell, looking forward to this one.

  11. steve says:

I’m good with Aviva. Pick a time and I’ll be there.

  12. I’ll suggest noon on Wednesday. If that’s too early let me know, I’m flexible…

  13. Stacy says:

No, noon is perfect! I’ll let Claire know.

  14. It’s now in my calendar.
