I managed to join my coworker Al for a ride (with little silence) last night. We pedaled over to Free-Flite in Sandy Springs and joined up with four other men, we’ve lost the women, for our Wednesday night route. In total I got in about 26 miles last night.
For the most part I held my own, though I suffered mightily on the Mt Paran Pkwy climb, experiencing some knee pain in the process.
Al and I were about a mile away from the office when we started feeling the rain, and about a quarter-mile away when the skies opened widely and dumped copious amounts of rain upon us.
I drove in and out of the rain to get back to East Atlanta and managed to unload the M6 and get my mail before the rain arrived there.
“Erbsen auf halb 6”
In the mail last night was the DVD of Erbsen auf halb 6 (Peas at 5:30) that I ordered from Germany a few weeks ago. This film was mentioned in my German workbook and we discussed it a couple of weeks ago. Since the Goethe Zentrum didn’t have a copy in their library, and I found nowhere from where I could stream the movie, I purchased it from a German vendor.
I’ve still yet to get a multi-region DVD player, so I will have to wait to watch this flick, given that it’s Region 6 encoded.
Once I get my fill of this film I’ll donate this copy to Goethe Zentrum so that future German A2.4 students can check it out from the library.
Eternity + (1 x Week) = Eternity
It seems like an eternity since I last participated in Team Trivia. I will be adding another week to eternity tonight.
Instead tonight I will be going to the Atlanta chapter of General Assembly for a presentation “Evernote Presents: Productivity Hacks For Innovators On The Go”.
My first productivity hack will be figuring out how to park at Ponce City Market, where General Assembly is located, and not charged $15. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate paying for parking?

I mention skipping trivia again because I miss doing it! I certainly enjoy the time spent with you and the boys.
It seems as if I’ve had a run of things occur on Thursdays that have kept me away. This is the only evening on which this presentation will be given, so I had no other option for attending.

After all of the talk this week I am committing to baking one on Sunday.
Stacy – we’d come to trivia, but I heard the team was full. Maybe there’s an opening?
I made the Publix dough pizza last night, I have no idea how pizza makers make it round- I had no luck with that. But – I tried pre-cooking the crust a little, like Steve said they had done – I think that worked pretty well, to make it a little crispier.
I also walked up to the cheap bread store – Allan was out of rye bread. Its about 2.5 miles round trip, and it was warmer out than I thought it was yesterday (I sweated)
BRAG finally posted the Sunday route for BRAG – 68 miles with 3500 feet of climbing. We either need to get some quick training in, or we may not start at Oglethorpe – we may start in Stone Mountain. That way it will be closer to 50 miles to Social Circle.
Watching a rainy Giro d’Italia this morning. This is the kind of stage that reminds me that if I could get in a time machine and return to my teenage years I’d once again never consider becoming a professional bike rider.
Hmmm, that does seem like it’s a daunting day of riding. Considering I will be doing the metric century the day before at Jackson Brevet I’d certainly be open for exploring the shorter option.
It looks like from the cue sheet that the 2nd rest stop in in Stone Mountain, right outside the park. that’s just a guess.
And – you could just jump in when the ride comes down closer to your house.
I’m pretty sure it is taking the beltline & the PATH route.
You also will need to get us bag with your clothes to have in the truck out in Social Circle. (bandit use of the shower trucks!)
I can do that — both see where I can jump in, as well as get you a bag of clothes to put into your truck.
Damn, first 3 days of BRAG are going to be tough! Hopefully that will ride me in to shape for the rest day century 🙂

Rode to work yesterday and after work Travis had a baseball game so rode to Roswell Area Park to meet Laura with my truck. The other parents looked at me like I was strange or something.
Franklin is just trying to hasten the process of killing off the older BRAG riders. 🙂
Checking my September calendar I see that I have three conflicting events for the weekend of 9/16-9/18. Glad I have a few months to figure out what I want to do that weekend.
I was talking to Stephanie about Mike & his ribs yesterday, and if he doesn’t go to BRAG, how she is going to be hating life that week with him at home.
I suggested that if he doesn’t feel healed enough (like I’m guessing he won’t be ready to ride that many miles), he could try just riding the first day & seeing how that goes. If he rides with me, I know he will be taking it easy.
And- Paulie- you might be on to something.
Y’all sound way too organized. I bet the route is the old TdeGA course that ended in Stone Mountain. Seems like I recall it started/went through Social Circle.
I ran last night as it looked like rain around us. I managed my 4 miles or so and feel pretty good today. I stretched more and did some high stepping stretching as I ran, which helped.
Zelda has a follow up surgery to tack a section of her injury and put in a drain. You would never think she had such an injury, they way she jumps around.
I might be riding around at Stone Mountain tomorrow afternoon. A meeting with the Park early will give me an excuse to go climbing- if the rain holds off.

Shoot, I keep forgetting to mention that I found out who won TAR via Twitter. Suffice to say it was not a team for whom I was rooting. I do think that it was interesting that neither of the two teams who conspired to eliminate the Gator dudes finished in the top two.
TAR – actually, I was ok with the team that won winning, of the 3 teams that I didn’t really like, I liked them the best. They knew to memorize everything for the final challenge. & did great on that.
I applaud them for that. I just didn’t care for them for some reason.
Now that I know the outcome I may go back and watch the episodes I missed.
