What A Crock

Pot

Yesterday I bought myself a new, red, Crock-Pot Brand 6-quart Manual Slow Cooker from Target. Had I the luxury of time I could have bought one of the NFL or Collegiate varieties. Pity. The bare-basics model I purchased cost me a whopping $25 because it was on sale; normal pricing for this model is $30.

Now that I’ve opened the box and prepped all of the food for today’s lunch I believe that I have mistakenly thought that my previous Rival Slow Cooker had a 6-quart capacity. Perhaps it was 5-quart? 4-quart? Who knows. Now I am feeling compelled to seek out a replacement ceramic insert for the older slow cooker just to have another size at my disposal.

All I need to do now is let the slow cooker do its thing, until 11:15am when I will have to add in the coconut milk, stir everything up, and let it cook for thirty minutes more.

Bon Appetit!

And if you are having a party and are in need of a really large Crock Pot, just let me know.

What Did I Do Last Night?
Well, if you followed me on Twitter you’d know.

After sitting at Brass Tap Beer Bar for awhile I made the decision to drive to Masquerade and try to see Eskimeaux perform again. I wasn’t sure that there were any tickets left when I pulled out my iPhone (unfortunately still 5c) and paid $5.35 using the ParkMobile app to park across the street from the venue, but I decided to gamble. My gamble paid off because I was able get a $12 ticket and had to wait no more than twenty minutes before Eskimeaux, one of the opening bands, to play! I chuckled aloud when lead singer Gabrielle Smith mentioned that she was looking forward to eating a delicious breakfast at Home Grown this morning. Had I not have to come into the office early to prep my lunch I might have done the same.

The cherry on top was that I was out of Masquerade by 9:45pm and home before 10:15pm, giving me plenty of time to sleep. Until…

That Was An Interesting Storm
I was awaken some time before 1:00am to the sound of loud wind, and fearful that I may have heard some thing that sounded like a train, the sound most people use when describing an oncoming tornado. Fortunately I was wrong about the latter. A quick check of the old iPad showed a massive, fast moving storm, that brought with it high winds, rain, and hail. I don’t think East Atlanta got much of the latter two, but from my bed it sounded like it was a destructive storm.

Tonight, Tonight, Whoa Oh
After a successful day at work (I’m trying to psyche myself up), including getting some personal chores done, I’ll be joining ITP-Reader Stacy for some trivia. Following trivia tonight I will be doing some German homework and some Swift learning before falling asleep. I love it when a plan comes together…

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I am really looking forward to the review of the food — and I think tomorrow’s post MUST include a photo! I mean, we’ve been following its sagas for days now….only fair we should meet it! 🙂

I don’t know what size my crockpot is, but its pretty big. We have a super old one that is smaller – that we do use occasionally. And a super small one – like for an appetizer dip. (note to self – make a spinach artichoke dip some day & use that little thing.)

We went to a wine tasting last night after work in Roswell, Allan was really tired (2 fires the day before & worked at Cycleworks all day) so we tasted & then headed home. Grabbed a pizza on the way home & he was asleep by 9:30. What an exciting anniversary!

Happy Anniversary Steve & Debbie! (I can always remember, as it is the day after ours, and my Dad’s birthday today)

  3. I took an overhead shot of the cooking in process, I will take a shot of the meal when prepared. Both images will be posted tomorrow.

It was quite the storm last night. So much so that I missed 2 calls from the national network crew saying a device in Miami had failed. Just as well as this isn’t my month on call. I think I heard hail hitting the roof, and a bunch of wind, but no damage this morning when we went to breakfast.

Our dinner tonight will be at a new Italian place that has opened in Senoia. Debbie has already been once and said it was really good. I’m looking forward to it.

Sadly, there was a fatality on a bike last night- the husband of one of Debbie’s hunting buddies. I haven’t looked for details yet… be careful out there.

dang Steve- that’s is terrible about Debbie’s friend’s husband. LEt us know hte details.

  6. Stacy says:

Oh Steve, I’m so sorry to hear about Debbie’s friends. That’s so sad! 🙁

I’m frightened to ride a bike on Atlanta’s streets. Bike paths and the park, sure. But I don’t trust drivers at all. I am curious about the details too.

I was walking with a friend the other day who was bitching about a biker who is usually in our neighborhood “always acting like she owned the road.” And it was clear from the discussion that said biker was in the right and that my friend is just annoyed having to traffic with bikes. THAT’s what’s so scary. Though I’ve seen bike riders pull some boneass moves, most of the near misses I see are all the fault of the cars involved.

  7. Steve says:

Sadly, it doesn’t matter who was in the right, the cyclist almost always loses the fight.

  8. Debbie says:

He was on a group ride near Hampton. He stopped to help a fallen cyclist and was hit by someone texting and driving. 50 mph at impact, he didn’t stand a chance. It’s my worst nightmare and I have no words for my friend. He was her world.

We have 3 crock pots only two of which I can locate. I do a big breakfast for the hunt once per season, so I have a whole ‘nother year to find it.

  9. Barb says:

holy crap Debbie – how completely awful. What about the other cyclist that had fallen? I just can’t even imagine how she will deal with all this.

  10. Wow, that’s very sad.
