Top O’ The Morning To You

Well, had I woken up early and exercised as I had intended it’d still be the “top” o’ the morning…

There’s A New Bar In Town
Last night after work I decided to sit out traffic in the Perimeter Mall area. My boss and I decided to try the new bar in the ‘hood, Brass Tap Beer Bar, which fill the vacancy created by the departure of Twisted Taco awhile ago. I was impressed with the new bar which has only been open for three weeks; it was like a Taco Mac for adults.

Simulated Gunfire
For the next few days someone is filming bank robbing scenes for the 2017 movie Baby Driver in the vacated Sun Trust bank on Ashford Dunwoody. The movie stars Kevin Spacey, John Hamm, and Jamie Foxx, who I’d like to say came into Brass Tap, but I’d be lying if I did.

Because I was earlier than Hank I apparently missed some of the simulated gunfire when I walked toward Brass Tap. Upon entering the bar Hank said that he heard the gunfire, which startled him at first, until he remembered that they are shooting a movie.

Team O’Trivia?
You know, I have this somewhat-tradition of drinking at a Mexican bar on Saint Patrick’s Day, and then turning that on its head and drinking at an Irish bar on Cinco de Mayo. But what do I do when Saint Patrick’s day is on trivia day? Will there even be trivia held tonight? Will ITP-Reader Stacy and her harem of men gather if there is? These are yet-to-be-answers for me — because I’ve not reached out to ask them outside of this forum.

Unlike recent years I have remembered to don some green attire today. Which is good as I am 50% Irish after all…

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I have a perfect solution for you, my friend! Meet me EARLY at Tijuana Garage for a drink or two before walking over to Cameli’s to play trivia! 🙂 (Tex Mex counts as Mexican, doesn’t it?)

In an update to yesterday’s news: After lunch, I tweet-shamed Atlanta Downtown after finding out there were no food trucks, including the crying emoji and photo of the advertisement still prominently displayed saying there should have been. And the news was good: the food trucks ARE coming back! They tweeted back that they’ll have the sign removed but even better: sometime next month, they’ll be having the trucks at the Five Points MARTA station again. Whoop whoop! 🙂

    It’s the little things.

  2. Bravo, Stacy! Bravo!

I will see you tonight — I’ll be the one wearing green. 😀

I’m taking the afternoon off to go ride, and to maybe do a little lumber jacking, then we are heading to Taco Mac for a Guinness. I like your description of the new place as Taco Mac for adults.

The Ben Hilton looks pretty good after 3 hours of work yesterday. I though my grand nieces and nephews were going to pick up all the pine cones, but alas, it’s hard to find good help. So I raked.. and raked, and raked. Funny, in the back yard nearest the trees, (and the thickest pinestraw) the grass was beautifully green- the rest of the yard has yet to wake up.

    Off to go ride!!

  5. Steve, I am green with envy…

  6. Barb says:

we just had Heirloom BBQ catered in for lunch (big shots visiting) – so very not Irish – but that’s ok -it was tasty!

  7. I have yet to eat food from Heirloom. I should probably do the before I do something like take a job that moves me out of the Perimeter Mall area…

  8. Barb says:

since its really a to go place – you could pick some up & bring it to my house any evening………. we wouldn’t mind that at all.

  9. Maybe in exchange for some bicycle tune up work prior to STU? 🙂

  10. Barb says:

    that could work
