Not Ready To Return

Damn, I’m hitting the ground skidding today and will have no time to blog a lot.

Cheddarhead was fun, unfortunately the bowling alley was a fiasco so some of us fractioned off and headed to a different alley. I bowled 192 in the second game that night, but given that I was not at the official lanes I could not claim this year’s trophy.

Great to see all of you who made it out.

Will promise a much better blog post tomorrow, heck, it couldn’t be much worse. 😉

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I was disappointed that the bowling was such a CF. Apparently, there were reserved lanes, only not by Cheddarhead?? Did we not expect anyone to show up or not want to cough up the bucks?

1/2 was the rescheduled Boxing Day hunt and do to continued slippery conditions, Debbie opted to road whip, meaning she and I drove the outskirts of the hunt area to sort of control the hounds and to protect them if they went “out of bounds”. Holy crap, were they out of bounds! At one point we heard over the radio, “I need help and someone with a gun! The hounds have cornered a coyote under a porch and won’t kill it.” We found the address and sure enough, there was Wylie under the porch. Debbie drove off to get the huntsman while the rest of us tried to cull the hounds before they all ran off. The huntsman returns and drags Wylie out by the tail. Now seeing his predicament, off he goes with the hounds in hot pursuit. Under another porch about a quarter mile away (something tells me this wasn’t his first time under either one). Finally, someone dispatches him before the hounds can do their thing, and sanity is restored.

Sunday we went over to a neighbors whose lower pasture took a direct hit with all the rain of the past weeks. Easily a couple hundred feet of new fencing had to be ripped out and the new idea is to run several strands of smooth wire (not barbed) that will allow the water and debris to pass. The high water mark on the low fence line was 3 feet!! I’m surprised it was still standing.

We finally got some pictures from Jack’s new family and he seems completely settled. We were worried we hadn’t heard from them since the storms ripped through parts of Dallas.

I’m going to have to stop reading your posts, FP. 🙁 Poor little coyote. Cold and hungry and scared out of his little wits, just trying to find a way to live another day. What a non-happy new year for him. I know people have a wide variety of opinions on the matter, but this is why I hate killing solely for sport. He didn’t deserve the terror he went through repeatedly before dying.

In completely unrelated news…. hey Paulie! Didn’t see your New Year’s Day post until this morning, but like your sentiments there! Always up for new adventures, so count me in if you ever want company.

I considered Cheddarhead but, honestly, this season kicked my butt. I spent all weekend –with the exception of a Star Wars viewing with a friend on Saturday — to myself, reading books and clearing out the movies on the DVR. Glorious! 🙂

ALSO: Just learned this morning that the Green Bay Packers are coming to Atlanta for a regular season game next year. Awwww yeah!

Not sure, but here’s what I think about the bowling alley. Enema (or whoever decided on that place) found out the cost of reserving the lanes, up front money, and decided it would be too tough to get the money back. I don’t know if that cost goes into the bowling cost, or is a separate no refundable cost.
I got a ride home from GE & his girlfriend Megan (her has name is something about Justin Bieber, but I can’t remember it) since they live in Marietta & I had no idea where Breastdtroke & Sessa were.

We (as in Allan & his dad) spent most of the weekend working on the shed. Yesterday was almost a total disaster, as the double door was a tiny bit too big for the opening – I guess there was a mis-measurement somewhere. Anyway – found the planer & belt sander & it eventually fit. (good thing Allan has almost ever tool known to man). I think its getting close to the time to getting the inspector back, so we can keep going on it.

  4. Barb says:

hey Stacy – I’m sure Enema & some of the Cheeseheads will have a good tailgate party sine the Pack is coing to town – last time it happened I think we ahd about 20 people – when tehy start planning I’ll get you in the loop.

and – Cheddarhead ending was cold this year…….

  5. Stacy says:

Cheddarhead = cold …. yeah. Hard to believe my hash was only one week prior and it was 75 degrees! I do wish Cheddarhead was in, say, August. 🙂

But hey Barb, we need to plan to get together sometime again soon so I can get you your tackiness back. Not that you plan to wear it anytime soon *grin* but still. I MAY be up in your neck of the woods on Sunday. If so, I’ll let you know. In the meantime, keeping them safe.

  6. Steve says:

Stacy- I can’t say I disagree. If it were the city, where a coyote was an intruder, it would a little different. In the country, he’s just a part of the environment.

  7. Whew, finally out of meetings.

Thanks for reading the 1/1 post too folks. I plan to keep my word about getting together more, however I must skip trivia this week for a concert for which I already purchased a ticket.

I heard through the grapevine that PE would have fronted $300 to reserve lanes; can’t blame him for not doing so. Barb, Breaststroke and Sessa wound up at Funtime Lanes; they bowled on the lanes next to us.

  8. Barb says:

yeah – I sent a text to Donna that I found a ride home & that you all had headed over there, glad they made it.
$300 is a bit much to try to get back from hashers………
