I could spend this post typing about how the only question we missed during trivia last night involved some little-known Packers quarterback named “Aaron Rodgers”. (side note: great to see ITP-Readers Steve and Debbie in attendance, as well as my old trivia friend Bill.)
Or, I could spend this post typing about how I once again overslept and didn’t ride my bike (which, given this gloomy morning isn’t such a bad thing).
No, instead I am going to type about connections, sadly not Connections, and how sometimes the Universe fucks with my head.
Let’s begin, shall we?
This week’s “Roderick On The Line” podcast talked about musicians, including referencing the drummer from a band who had a brief stint of popularity in the 1980s called “Lone Justice”. (side note: I loved their self-titled album, and one of my early crushes was on their lead singer Maria McKee.)
The cohost of “Roderick On The Line” is Merlin Mann. From listening to many of his podcasts I found out that Mann, much like me, spent his formative years in Florida. When hearing the name “Lone Justice” Mann exclaimed how much he loved the band.
This is not the first musical taste that Mann and I share, we are both on record declaring our love for the music of Hüsker Dü as well. (side note: tonight I will be joining ITP-Reader Terri at The EARL to see a Hüsker Dü cover band perform.)
I was introduced to Hüsker Dü and Lone Justice back int the 1980s by my friend Mike. Mike introduced me to most of the music I loved back then, including a band called “Jason And The Scorchers”. On my drive in I started thinking about going to see Jason And The Scorchers perform at the University of South Florida in 1986. (side note: I don’t remember much about that night other than having a really great time.)
And then I received an email from a service called Songkick, informing me that Jason And The Scorchers are playing a concert tomorrow night at the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival.
BOOM! Mind blown!
Any guesses as to where I will be tomorrow night?

Started to pack, I get to finish that tonight. flight leaves 11:45am tomorrow. I’m very excited about this vacation – found a cool place to stay for Wed. night before the hasher festivities start happening – Mcmenamins Edgefield. Paulie – what time does your flight get in Wed.? its less than 30 minutes from the airport -You could get an sort of over priced room there – the place has a bunch of bars & restaurants & a winery. It has been recommended by 3 people that don’t know each other.
Allan woke up to a dead battery on the CRV – took it out & put it in my car to go replace at lunch or after work. its been acting up & is really old, so we know its dead dead, just not run out of juice. (but, I will have Pep Boys test it just to be sure)

Great to see everyone at trivia last night. Sorry I am of no use when it comes to football trivia or many other trivia is for that matter.
Just said our goodbyes to my contractor and games friend who came down to look at our plans for the barn. He had some very good ideas and I’ll be doing some tests to see exactly how to engineer the attachment of the header to the man cave.
Currently watching the tour of Spain stage today. I decided not to try and say (Vuelta) to the dictation equipment. Hoping to get a ride in later this afternoon when we go out where we will be doing trail maintenance tomorrow.
