Pork-a-Palooza

After drinking and eating at Lucky’s in Brookhaven I stopped into the massive Kroger in Brookhaven to do a little shopping for today. I don’t know if I have been into this Kroger since they consumed the post office that once resided in that shopping center. It is massive!

I picked up a 7.5 pound pork butt, hehe I typed butt, from which I hacked off a ~1.5 pound portion for this weekend and put the rest into a crockpot along with some apple cider vinegar and spices (here’s the recipe I follow) at 1:00am to start cooking for lunch today.

Really, no foolin’!

Google Maps Pac-Man?
Yesterday I discovered that Google Maps now has an option to play Pac-Man on the portion of map at which you are looking!

That’s part of the Georgia Tech campus laid out as a Pac-Man board.

Really, no foolin’!

Thanks For The Feedback
I found yesterday’s discussion about Ace Hardware stores to be fascinating. One of the reasons for this is that I have a need to buy two short wood screws in order to put up a paper towel roll holder that has been sitting on my kitchen counter for at least three months now. I sense a trip brewing on Saturday…

Last night I went & explored a newer paved path up near Town Center Mall called the Noonday Creek Trail with JoAnna. We were walking, so we only saw a little of it, but the map makes it look like eventually it will connect over to Kennesaw Mtn. It would be a slower bike ride, but at least you are out of traffic.

Tonight we are meeting up with 2$ Ho (Christine) that moved to Kansas City a few years back. Her sister lives here. Rumor has it we will be meeting at Nuevo Laredo, and I’m excited, because somehow, in all my years in the ATL, I’ve never been there.

    LOVE the picture! Well done!

The Kroger ate the post office? Oh wow. I guess I haven’t been over in that area for a while, as I had no clue. I used to go to that Kroger quite a bit when I worked over in that area, so I was a little confused why you called it “massive” until you explained that. Is that it’s official Kroger name? Massive Kroger? 😉

Pac Man had me a little preoccupied yesterday myself….though as I told a friend, I totally sucked at it! Back in my day, we had joysticks, not directional arrows, afterall! Still had fun running around “cleaning up” my neighborhood. But you totally need to go check out Oakland Cemetery! Now, thems good eatin’s!

I agree with Stacy, very nice picture.

As we were planning on some pasture work last night (pre-empted by the rain) I ran at lunch yesterday. Running once a month, or in my case, once every 2 months is not condusive to good fitness. I hurt today, but I’ll be at George’s tonight, trying to make the pain go away.

Where is this “Massive Kroger”? All I can think of is the old Harris Teeter site, which could never be considered massive.

I managed to recycle a bunch of boxes today by handing thme on to a friend here that is moving into a condo just down the street.

NPR had an April Fools story this morning about driverless cars that get road rage. Funny.

  4. When I worked on 14th Street I called Nuevo Laredo “Free Beer Tomorrow” because I could never remember its name, but I could remember the sign which hung in its parking lot.

This Kroger is a little further South, down where Pike’s Nursery used to be. At one time there were two Krogers — the old Harris Teeter and this one and I almost want to say that this Kroger used to be an A&P?

The Massive Kroger ate everything to that corner, including the post office and I think a cell phone store? Also gone from that parking lot was the out building that was once a Brusters.

Ahh… it’s been a while since I’ve been up that way.
