I called Peach Auto and they asked me to bring the Jackmobile in so that they could scan the code from the on-board computer. I’ll have to call them today to informed them that I won’t be able to do this because I decided to ride MARTA again today.
Today’s MARTA experience was like hitting the MARTA lottery! As I descended the stairs my westbound train arrived at the platform, and when I arrived at Five Points there was a North Springs train waiting there for us. As a further bonus neither train was overcrowded nor experienced delays.
Oh, if only it was that pleasurable an experience every day.
Because of my use of MARTA I missed what appeared to be some pretty ugly traffic last night. Oh yeah, it’s Christmas time, isn’t it? Anyway, by the time I arrived home I had plenty of time to eat my paltry dinner of cheese, sausage, and crackers (I didn’t feel like cooking) and watch some videos on my iPad.
No Car, No Happy Hour?
Since the departure of our Happy Hour coordinator this time last year we haven’t really had too many “official” happy hours. I was thinking about this today as I realized that I’d have no car tonight if I wanted to go and get a post-work libation.
I realize that I am well within walking distance to a handful of drinking establishments, but I don’t know how much I want to trust MARTA during non-rush-hour hours.
This situation might be better off for me anyway as I still have Christmas cards to write, and need to finalize the Sharpened Stone dissolution paperwork so that I can mail everything tomorrow or Monday.
Pub Crawl Saturday
On my drive from the MARTA station to the ITP Estate I caught up with Public Enema. Turns out the ITP Estate will be the final stop on tomorrow’s East Atlanta pub crawl. Huh, I wasn’t expecting this. Looks as if I’ll be spending some time cleaning tomorrow. And Geebus help my plumbing make it through the day…
Since no driving is required on my behalf, I will be participating. As I understand it there won’t be as many stops as we did back in the olden days, but there will be ample opportunity to get as hammered as you wish.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
You don’t have to let anyone inside……. I know, that’s hard to do, but you don’t have to.
I now get to work Saturday morning, wasn’t planning on it, but oh well. Still have some Christmas freight that has to get taken care of.
I got to drive Felicia to the airport this morning, trafffic was less painful than usual, I wasn’t even hardly late to work.
It’s not too late to get PE to get you a porta-pottie!! And maybe there is a contstruction site nearby??
If you need to ride MARTA “after hours”, my suggestion would always be to ride in the first car- that way, if there is any problem, you have some support from the operator. And I think MARTA would be a far more consistent option for you, time wise. It is rare the trains I catch are more than a minute off schedule.
I don’t think we have anything on the calendar for this weekend. I need to prompt my sister to get me a list for Santa for the nieces and nephews. We will have some fun shopping for my newest nephew- not yet 2 months old. Without a list, I think everyone else will get locally sourced lumps of coal.
There will be a road ride at some point.
Have a great weekend everyone.

MARTA after hours is not so bad, I have taken the train many times outside of rush hour and never had a problem.
I wish I could do the pub crawl, I have decided that me and unlimited beer just do not mix. Granted I always have a good time but usually end up doing something stupid 🙂
Saturday is hopefully the last round of raking leaves (I have WAY too many trees) and a christmas party with Laura’s crossfit friends.
Sunday is 35 miles on the mtn bike up at Bull Mountain. Riding with my friends that are training for Snake Creek, this may be a rough day.
Bob – raking leaves? you don’t have a backpack blower? Ask Santa for one, seriously.
We might go to Black Sheep Sunday, all depends on if we are hung over, or come up with a differnt plan. I think I heard the start is down near the airport, but there is still a party at Sani’s after.
Barb – I agree, I NEED a back pack blower. The amount of leaves that fall here is unreal. I’m talking 5 inches deep in my driveway, it is crazy. And I say raking but I really don’t rake, I have a blower and I have borrowed a leaf vacuum from a neighbor, this thing is awesome!! It has a transmission so I call it my leaf zamboni. I blow the leaves away from the house then drive this thing around the yard sucking up leaves.
That is one thing I want- to get done “raking” leaves. My mower has a catcher and I just drive around and suck them up.
A friend posted a picture of his new leaf blower- runs on those little, fat propane bottles.
I might not let anyone into the house, we’ll see. Pity that they removed the porta-potty from two doors down a couple of weeks ago. 😉 I don’t think that there will be enough participants to warrant renting one for a couple of hours.
I’m less concerned about my safety on MARTA on “off” hours than I am the lack of regularity of trains arriving. During business hours MARTA increases the number of trains running, and during off hours if you miss a train you could be in for a long wait before the next arrives.
I want to run Black Sheep on Sunday however I’ll be working on Sunday. Yup. A-gain.
Oh happy day – I just got someone else to work for me Saturday. She has some other stuff she must get done, so she will handle the stuff I was supposed to do.
I don’t know what we would do if we couldn’t burn. I can’t imagine bagging up all the leaves we have. Its insane. Allan has burned in the garden 3 times, and I think there is still enough to do it again. We need to have a party to burn the huge pile of brush in the front yard, that one might burn for a long while.
I’m damn close to burning, not the leaves, I just run the mower to mulch the ones in the back and bag the ones in the front. The damn city seems to pick and choose what yard waste they will pick up. I have a pile of limbs that have been in front of my house and another at Andy’s that have been there for weeks. Before you ask, yes, they are all cut to the size specified by the city (3 feet).
I’m trying to finish my xmas shopping today, since we are exchanging gifts with family a week early, I’m under the gun. At this point I’m having everything shipped to Indy, just in case.
I’ll be stopping by the Pub Crawl at some point. Maybe I’ll just meet at the end now. I think Betsy may join me as well.
