After our Christmas party at Dave & Busters last night I risked driving the Jackmobile home. Fortunately, everything went well, as well as one can expect driving with the Check Engine light on at least.
Last night I devised a plan where I’d ride my mountain bike to MARTA, force my bike onto a train, and then ride from the Dunwoody station to the office. This plan quickly fell apart when I saw that it was 31° F outside this morning.
The new plan consisted of driving the Jackmobile to MARTA instead of taking my bike. I figured that in the worst-case scenario the Jackmobile would break down on a surface street and I could park it, lock it, and walk the rest of the way to MARTA. At least for my first trip performing this task I did not have to resort to doing the park-and-walk.
As Holiday Parties Go
Once again I won nothing from a raffle!
That did not deter me from having a good time playing video games at Dave & Busters. Unlike last year I didn’t attempt many of the ticket-producing games (we only had 50 credits on our card) but I did play a lot of the video games because we had free play. The highlight of the evening occurred near the end when eight of us played the eight-player car racing game about ten times in a row; it was an exercise in video demolition derby.
Perhaps needless to say I got home much later than I had anticipated, so neither the two chores I had hoped to accomplish were performed. Tonight? Jeez, I hope so.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Did you call Harry back & tell him the check engine light came back on?
I went shopping last night, it is amazing, all the clothes I have in my closet that I have nothing to wear for the party Saturday night. (LOL) I did find a new black dress & some boots (all on sale), so I think I’m almost set.
It has been quite chilly these past few mornings, it’s not making these early morning gym visits any easier.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed, some sort of budget deal is made today…it will make my life a lot easier.
Well back to work, hopefully things will start to slow down a little after today.
I didn’t get a chance to call Harry yet.
I wish that things would slow down for me. I have a feeling Christmas is going to whiz by without me noticing because I am spending every free brain cycle working on the problems in my life.
Please remind me that running once every 3 weeks is not a good idea. While I’m walking this morning, it isn’t without pain! Boner and I ran a Beltline out and back we are fond of and we weren’t in a big hurry, but it was still more than I had been running.
I feel slightly in a more Christmas-y mood after going shopping for Debbie and having good success. Now if I can only get started on the nieces and nephews.
Martha, I think a budget deal is certain- none of those goomers want to be stuck in DC for Christmas.

I hear y’all! On the radio this morning they mentioned that it’s two weeks until Christmas. Exactly two weeks. ONLY two weeks. I think my body’s still stuck back in October somewhere and not quite processing that fact yet.
Paulie, I’m so sorry about your car woes. What a pain in the butt. But as someone (Steve?) said the other day…maybe it’s time to put the Jack out to pasture? I hear there’s a farm up north where they can go run and play even WITH check engine lights on…
Barb – nice! Take pictures please. Saw you were out at DSW and bummed you couldn’t find anything so glad you got those boots.
Yep, what Stacy said- no pictures or it didn’t happen.
Oh, I’m sure we will will take a picture or two Saturday, we always do.
Plus, Allan has a new sportcoat to wear. Which makes me think, he needs to find a tie. Probably needs to go raid the retired IBM guys closet…….
