At this point in my life I admit that I don’t enjoy gatherings at which I am not sure I will know anyone. My introverted nature hates expending the energy to engage in small talk. Since none of the friends with whom I’ve volunteered for Trees Atlanta were going to attend Saturday night’s potluck, I bailed.

Yesterday I watched another good mini documentary about The Barkley, this one on YouTube — The Barkley Strikes Back: 2025’s Return to Form.

Tonight I intend to harvest some kale and make a sausage, lentil, and kale recipe that I got from the Washington Post when I used to be a subscriber (hence why I have no linked to it here).

    Wordle in 6!

A good trip to Huntsville. Dinner with the crew at a local brewpub with good beer but slow food service. And it’s not that the food was complex- mostly sandwiches and pizza.

The race Saturday was bit damp to start, but dried off after a while. With 2 minutes between starts, I had time to chat with all the riders and appreciate the engineering of their rigs. Due to the nature of some of the (dis)abilities, there is a lot of customization.

Saturday evening, watched as much basketball as I could take while Debbie’s hunt friend invited her to a VIP suite at the Atlanta United game. Swanky.

Sunday was a chore day. I PM’d the tractor and finish mower and managed to mow a bit of the driveway before it got too dark. Had wanted to ride, but no.

    busy enough weekend –

Friday night after a bike ride (thanks to Steve putting the idea in my head) we went to Tasty China with Sally. It was tasty.
Saturday Allan worked, I met up with a friend for “brunch”, I had a 1/2 sandwich & salad, she had breakfast, then that afternoon went for a pollen filled walk with Kevin at Murphey Candler park. I wasn’t thinking about the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Fest at Balckburn Park, so traffic was very crazy, (plus, lots of kids baseball at the park) but we found a parking spot & got in a few laps, so over 4 miles.

Sunday was supposed to be a bike riding day, but the rain got in the way, & by the time it was nice enough, we weren’t in the mood. David brought over 4 bikes to be looked at, so Allan tinkered with them, and we made a meatloaf on the Egg for dinner.

  3. Oh yeah. On Friday Hank and I met up for beers. We started at Atlantucky Brewing, and then went to the Wild Leap downtown. To save you the Google, Atlantucky is just south of the Benz. As I was walking to the Reynoldstown Marta station, I realized that I had plenty of time, and instead took at left onto Memorial Drive and walked the 4.3 miles to the brewery. The money I saved walking there was later claimed by Marta as I accidentally activated two fares, and was double-charged in the Marta app, for my ride home.

Atlantucky – I was underwhelmed the 1 time I went there.

Wild Leap – I love the old building & location (and I like some of their beers) so I’d definitely go back there again – if & when I ever get downtown.

Oh yeah – started making a list (mostly mental list) of stuff we need for STU –
a few groceries needed, what clothes to pack, etc.
I’m going to start piling stuff up today.

I had a really quiet weekend. We went to the General Muir for dinner Friday. Saturday we did a bunch of chores, then got mani-pedis, then late lunch at Pure. Sunday was pajama day and I read my book all day until bed time, with a break for dinner. Very nice!

wordle in 5 – just wasn’t coming to me at all.
    Conniptions day today.

Pretty good weekend, got a 30 mile ride in on Saturday then hung new light fixtures in the kitchen before going to the ATL United game. I was beat when we finally got back home. Sunday was yardwork and I got to break out the flame thrower again and burn all the weeds in the gravel next to the drive way. Travis has a game on Wednesday so we had to pre-bowl for the league. While there I learned that the new manager of the lanes is a former PBA tour bowler. He told me to come by when they are not busy and he will help improve my form. Good times.
I also picked up a new to me bike, somebody posted on the neighborhood facebook a full suspension recumbent bike!! I have no idea what I’m going to do with it but I’m sure good times will ensue!

  8. Waiting for HVAC tech to arrive to perform annual maintenance testing. The service window is between 12:00-17:00. Not sure what will happen if the severe weather arrives, since part of the work will be checking the compressor which is outside.

I was shocked and saddened on Saturday to find that Phidippides in Ansley Mall is no more. That was my go to source for running shoes ever since I moved here in 1986 🙁

The line of storms is no joke. A first- Elon’s network dropped due to the heavy rain. I could just barely see the back tree line, about 100 yds from my seat. About 5 minutes of full bodied heavy rain and then back to normal.

  11. Steve says:

And now that the storm lightened up, I see the horses hauling a$$ back towards the barn.

  12. Rain has passed, HVAC guy has come and gone. He told me that some trees were down on Memorial, knocking out a few traffic signals.

I’m in the process of making my first ever batch of English Muffins.

Don’t know what I will be doing the rest of today.

it is after 4pm, take it easy…………

We ran some errands – the Wellstar imaging place gave me some ppwk to fill out for medical advanced directives – and said to bring them back so they could be scanned into their system. So – I finally did that. At least Wellstar will have our wishes. I guess next Allan has to take that same ppwk with him to Piedmont (where his electro cardiologist is). We can also put it into the MyChart system.

Also – bought some groceries for the weekend – now to figure out what we still need.
