Fourteen years ago today was a beautiful Sunday in Atlanta and I went out for a bike ride that ended with me going over the hood of a car and being taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
Yesterday’s 25-mile bike ride on a similarly beautiful day was far less tragic, thankfully.
Wordle: three, my starter was TINGE
Wordle in 5 and that could have gone south quickly.
Tanner is at finishing school and Debbie went out to ride him yesterday. All reports are good.
Waze took me home via a rare route out of downtown yesterday, through the King district and onto Edgewood to 75/85. It does this when the heart of downtown ti especially F’d, I suppose.
By the time I got home, I was whipped, so there was no exercise.

Would anyone care to comment on Gene Hackman, his wife and his dog’s death? Sherriff
says no foul play, so I’m guessing suicide pact and they left a note?
Had not heard about this.
well – he was 95, and – who knows – could have been carbon monoxide (whether on purpose or not) – because – the dog too?
I also didn’t realize he has quit acting in 2004.
wordle in 3 too!
Went to what I thought was a sandwich taste test at Jackson last night – it was just salami & pepperoni – no bread – no sandwiches! But – will get paid $50 for my opinions.
Allan tagged along, he went & got Kevin from his new place & we had dinner at El Azteca in the same complex area – I walked over after the test. Even Mexican food isn’t cheap – and margaritas are so pricy anymore.
Yeah, going out to eat is a luxury that I rarely do these days. I’m also trying to limit my drinking out, because that’s also gotten increasingly expensive.
I finished Excel for Dummies! Well, 99.5% of it at least. I need to write a 2 page “cheat sheet” that will go on the http://www.dummies.com web site. But apart from that, the book is done. No rest for the weary author though, I signed a contract yesterday to update QuickBooks Online for Dummies again. Thankfully most of that book will just be tweaking existing text, there’ll be one or two new chapters, but most of it will be the same as it ever was, which is how to make money writing computer books. I certainly paid my dues on getting that book to the place I wanted it, taking the original next over from another author was absolutely a blessing and a curse.
Last week’s accounting professor conference was very productive for me. It was an easy road trip. On the way back I stopped off in Greenville, to update my clearly dated impression of the city (I was last there in the early 90s). Saturday was not the day to be in downtown Greenville, it was flooded with people for some event. I did like what little bit I saw, and will find a reason to make a repeat visit.
For several years in the late ’00 or teens, we held the Pro road race and time trial national championships there. It’s certainly got a neat downtown with lots happening.
I’ve all kinds of good things about Greenville but haven’t taken the time to see what’s all going on there.
