This should be a good week for getting indoor chores done. All I have to do is resist the urge to burrow under covers and watch YouTube.
Wordle: three, my starter was SPITE. I feel there will be a lot of deuces today.

Baked a breakfast casserole this morning to help heat the house while baking. Tomorrow I will do the same by making some biscuits from scratch.
Wordle in 3. Yesterday’s SUAVE took 6 and I’m sure that was common.
We had a dead tree in a pasture and since it was a nice day Saturday, I laid it down and cut it up. Somehow, after swapping out a chain, I guess I didn’t tighten the bolts enough and the chain derailed- one ruined chain, one lost bolt, but I persisted.
And yesterday, instead of being useful or doing something fun, I watched the FR network fail after an upgrade and monitored a severity 1 issue until I went to bed. Happily, they got everything back up just after midnight. And fortunately, since today is a holiday, there was very little business impact. yippee.
1:15 on the trainer Saturday evening.

Good on you for getting on the trainer. I will have to try again this week, hoping my knees won’t be barking afterwards.
busy enough weekend –
Spent the day Saturday helping Kevin move into his new please, nice little 1 bedroom apartment just inside the perimeter off Ashford Dunwoody. Its only about a mile from his office – so very happy about the reduced commute, and the ability to walk to work some days. My body is too old to be moving boxes, etc. My back is sore.
Sunday we did Wheelhopper – it was a nice urban trail around Decatur – didn’t realize there is a Wild Heaven at Toco Hills – that was the ending.
I gave up helping people move decades ago. Too old for that shit.
I think that I’ve mentioned that Wild Heaven here. It’s where they had no bar service, and you had to close your beer tab if you wanted to order food. Hopefully they’ve gotten their shit together.
You may have – I don’t always remember.
We only ordered beer, no food – so not sure about the tab thing. Beers aren’t cheap, but that isn’t surprising anymore.
On Saturday I met my buddy Chip at Fire Maker Brewing. Fortunately there was a 4% Upside, making the beers slightly cheaper.
I’m exhausted, but it was a good visit. Dad is doing as well as can be expected — much better than the dire possibilities the doctor told us about. I guess they have to warn patients of the worse case scenario just in case it happens. We’re not out of the woods yet, he still has two weeks of chemo and other shit, but I am hopeful.
It’s amazing how tired I got just from sitting in his hospital room every day. Every night I passed out before 10. Got home yesterday around 3:30 and immediately had to take a nap.
Did anyone get affected by the storm? Kevin reports that we lost power for about 8-10 hours.
Welcome back. You could have left the freezing temps in the northeast. I woke at 4am to the sound of rain, wind, and thunder. I had one power blip, but other than that the ITP Estate was spared.
Best of luck with your dad.
It stormed like CRAZY about 0430am – the power blipped a few times, so I heard the TV set up make noises, the printer in the other make noises, not sure what else – so besides the storm, all those noises kept me awake for at least 30 minutes.
Roof really didn’t sound any different – I was afraid we’d have a tree fall on the house since the roof is brand new.
I was a little concerned for you as well, if I just admit.
I might have slept through it all except for the tornado warnings going off on Debbie’s phone! I still haven’t left the property since Saturday, but there wasn’t much debris in the yard.
LOL, sounds like my house had it the worst! Glad I wasn’t there! By the time I woke up from my nap yesterday the power was back on.
Trying to figure out how to set up my iPhone 16 Pro on my tripod so that I can take my own passport photo. I have so much equipment from the olden days, just need to ge the right configuration.
Fortunately, while iPhones have gotten larger and added buttons, it appears that the holder I bought a long time ago will still work. I just need to figure out a way to hold the phone at a 90° angle so I can get the shot.
can’t you just take the picture & then edit it/crop it etc to get it the correct way?
Taking the photo is what the equipment is for; in order to take a portrait of myself I need(ed) a way to position the camera. The Fed states that the image cannot be a selfie, so I needed to take a portrait from a distance.
how do they know its a selfie? I mean, really, how would they know?
I found the correct configuration, and used my Apple Watch to remotely trigger the camera. Unfortunately I think the camera has a permanent filter called “Age & Uglify” because I look older and uglier than ever, and my eyelid with its newly-formed chalazion doesn’t help at all.
I wonder if this is one of the reasons I haven’t had a date in forever…
Dude, until you can learn to first, and then eventually, love, yourself, you truly can’t expect anyone else to have any interest. At least no one that would be remotely good for your mental health.
Other people pick up on how we perceive and treat ourselves, and then proceed accordingly. If *you* think that *you* are an “old and ugly” person, who are they to argue with you?
I’m not saying any of this is easy to overcome, but I am here to say that it is possible. Your future is in your hands.
*learn to first like, and then eventually love
Duct tape. Lay the whole rig on the floor for portrait! Follow me for more tips.
lol.
Would require less equipment, which I now need to put away.
Wordle in 2 today. I went to the edge and stood and looked down yesterday with SUAVE in 6. My Debbie nailed that one in 3.
I’m teaching my son to drive, now that he’s finally decided he’s interested (after having his permit for more than 6 months). It’s such a rewarding experience. Nerve-wracking as hell, but rewarding.
At one point yesterday we were headed down Juniper, and a German car started driving a bit erratically. My son got frustrated, and I said, “It’s OK, all you have to do is give them a friendly wave, and say ‘Audi!'” I will now see myself out. 😉
another driver in the house……….. good times!!!!
A brave man…
