Found my way to Northside Tavern yesterday afternoon. For the first time in my life I realized that Northside Tavern isn’t on Northside Drive, but rather Howell Mill Road.

Wordle in 3! Heading to Highlands NC for the long week-end. Sorry to miss Wheelhopper on Sunday since it’s so close.
Enjoy your weekend away!
My nascent DVD/Blu-Ray catalog system has failed me twice already! Yesterday I bought a DVD of “The Magnificent Seven” only to find it already in my bookshelf this morning! The entire purpose of this system is to eliminate the purchasing of DVDs and Blu-Rays that I already own! My ire launched me on a double checking of my inventory, and now tells me that I own “The 39 Steps” but I cannot locate it. Dangen!
The other day Kevin read about a 30th anniversary re-mastering of some movie on Blu-Ray and we were both like, “how is anyone going to be able to watch a Blu-Ray, does that even exist anymore?!”
Funny. Yes, much like albums they are making a comeback.
Here’s a problem I encountered today. One of my many chores was to hook up my ancient PlayStation 2 to the tv I bought for the Florida house last year. Well, the cable I have terminates in Component cables (RGB) and not HDMI, so there’s that incompatibility…
that just read to me as blah, blah, blah, blah. 😉
RCA to HDMI adapter is $10 on Amazon. Don’t give up yet.
Haven’t given up, just not going to happen today as planned.
FYI, I tried said RCA to HDMI connector recently for someone, and it was a complete fail. YMMV.
So you can…play video games?
Well, perhaps. I used to really enjoy doing that, but the PS2 would mostly be used as a DVD player sie I could watch movies on that TV.
Am I the only one amazed that, after a week since it first fell that there are still patches of snow and ice in areas that see no sun?
Quick dinner at Fellini’s last night followed by a couple of episodes of Virgin River. No plans this weekend other than errands and maybe a movie. Our niece from Savannah is using the cabin this weekend, she texted me at 1:37 am saying that they had made it. Oh, to be young again. (No, thanks.)
We close at 2:00 today, woot! Kevin and I have decided to go day drinking at Six Feet as soon as Finn gets home from school.
My buddy Hank went from Northside Tavern to his local Chamblee drinking haunt, and texted me and our buddy Chip. It was not even 9pm and I had just gotten into bed to read and fall asleep. Hank isn’t even young! 🙂
I mostly meant that she drove up from Savannah to Ellijay after work last night; I can’t even imagine driving 7 hours after working a full day. I would die.
what is his local Chamblee drinking haunt? (inquiring minds)
BlueTop. He can walk there from his apartment.
I was just there a few weeks ago – not a bad little bar
I have baked a pumpkin bread this morning, and look forward to doing some WLF choring when it warms a bit this afternoon.
Yesterday my thermostat was acting up so I ordered a new fancy Ecobee smart thermostat that should get here next week. Well last night when I got home it decided to die so had no heat!!!
Told the family to bundle up as it was going to get cold overnight.
Ran to Home Depot this morning to buy the cheapest thermostat they had just to get me through the next 4 or 5 days. Thankfully it was only $25 but now we have heat again!
Yes, you will want heat, especially on Monday. I was going to volunteer to plant trees on Monday (MLK Day) but the high temperature will be somewhere in the very low 30s. Brrrr!
wow – that’s pretty crazy. Cheat thermostat for the win!
When my thermostat was acting up, our HVAC service guy found a small wire in it that wasn’t connected correctly, but that ended up not being the total problem. At least ours was just not holding temperature, it was still working. 2nd visit the actual owner came over & figured out what the problem was, downstairs in te furnace.
As a bonus though I found the ecobee premium system discounted on the Georgia Power site. Normally a $250 thermostat was discounted to $70 for Georgia Power customers.
Wow, that’s cool. (no pun intended)
We have an Ecobee thermostat. It works, that’s about all I can say about it. I thought it would have more bells and whistles. The weirdest thing about it is that the heat will only go up to 68. If you want the house warmer than 68, you’re SOL.
wow – now that’s not a thermostat for old people
That’s exactly what I said!
Jenka – Allan said – “Are you sure? I think that is an operator error problem.”
My answer was – never getting above 68 is how it saves you money
Yeah, you’ve gotta be able to dial in your age on the theromostat after a certain point in life…
busy morning –
Went to play trivia last night at the American Legion with Kristina – different format than most places. We did good the 1st 2 rounds, but 3rd was completely a bust, and 4th didn’t really matter, as we were too far behind to get it the top 3.
Fun
Found “The 39 Steps”! I forgot that this disc didn’t come in a clamshell box, so it was not on the bookcase.
Also, gave up on reading a novel “Into Hot Air” by Chris Elliott because it wasn’t working for me. Put it into a nearby Little Library box.
omg – he really annoys me as an actor – not sure I’d want to read a book he wrote.
I used to love his work, but I just couldn’t get into this book.
Wordle in 3.
At the eye doctor before picking up the trailer. Picked up a round bale and set it out before leaving the house this morning.
Only plan this weekend is figuring out the trailer and what we’ll need.

That is the fun part Steve!
I recommend bins for most things. Home Depot has short bins that I use. I have 3 of them, Power cables and electric stuff, Fresh water hose and water attachments, and last one is for black tank attachments. It is best to keep those all separate 🙂
Blocks for leveling and don’t forget wheel chocks.
Bins & more bins –
we may have some extra, &/or if you ever want to see how Allan organizes everything, come on by.
Note to self – see if the camper is done with its maintenance at 3Way Camper.
Where are you picking this camper up? Alabama? Tennessee?
Near Heflin, AL. Kinda the middle of nowhere.
Will take any handmedowns you care to spare. We think she’s leaving a fair amount of stuff.
Back to debating the purchase of a new iPad. The battery in my beloved iPad Pro 10.5” just doesn’t hold a charge for very long, and I’m not sure Apple will do a battery sway because of its age. Won’t trade this one in, however because it may become the music player and iPad when needed in the basement as I make some changes down there.
my iPad is very old too – but I just use it for screwing around here, so charging it isn’t that huge of a deal. I’m usually close enough to my cord.
THE BOOK IS OUT OF MY HEAD! I just turned in the final chapter for the rough draft. I’m not out of the woods yet, I have to get through the author review stage, where I clean up things based upon the editorial comments. But this is a massive milestone. I clearly remembering my younger self thinking I’d never write a marquee book like Excel for Dummies, but little did that dude know! I was in the right place at the right time, based upon an accumulation of past decisions that I questioned at points, but have all paid off.
*applause*
WHOOOOOO HOOOOOO!
CONGRATS!!!
That’s awesome David!!
Super excited about the new trailer. Let the decorating, equipping and organizing begin. My Amazon shopping cart is full of things for it, but have held off until we get and do an inventory of what the seller sends with it and what we have in storage. Looking forward to a maiden voyage next weekend.
Our eye doctor finally pulled the trigger on using laser to clean up my eye. Hopefully after he does it, my vision will improve and I’ll be able to drive at night again. I see halos so badly now that it’s debilitating.
Hope evweyone has a good weekend!
Congrats David!
Thank you, everyone! My head is still spinning.
In from WLF. Nothing monumental was done today, most cleanup including cutting up two of the Christmas trees I claimed. I am now back in my warm pajamas I bough around Thanksgiving; these would be amazing if I were 6’0”, or had the skills to sew hems to shorten the legs about four inches.
roll them up? got any safety pins?
Apple’s new intelligent email sucks. Somehow since I started working outside today I received seventy emails, and were not alerted about any of these.
Severance is back! I am far too invested in this series. 🙂
what streaming is it on?
