At the end of last year I finally checked off one of my reading challenges by finishing “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote; this book has been in my possession for at least six years. This year I’ve added two more, from different ends of the ownership time spectrum. “The Art of Fermentation ” by Sandor Ellix Katz is a large book I purchased last year, and should educate me about the wonders of preserving food (hopefully most of which comes out of Wee Little Farm this year) via fermentation. “Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid” by Douglas R Hofstadter has been on my bookshelves for the past 40+ years(!); I don’t know if this book will teach me anything, but reading it will fill a hole in my life’s reading list if I can manage to finish it this year.

Watched President Carter being brought into the capitol rotunda yesterday. I love all that pomp and circumstance. I will be watching the funeral tomorrow, for sure.
I terminated the newly run cable for the link to the man cave on the first try- not as easy as you may think. And while the T-mobile rep said the connection would be up until the current bill ran out, he lied (or didn’t know any better) as it was dead as a doornail.
At 10 PM last night, I realized that the freeze protection for the well house wasn’t in place. I had to scramble to find an actual incandescent bulb- the new ones don’t produce enough heat! No issues this morning…

You remind me that I was supposed to get a $34 refund from AT&T. I wonder if that happened.
Incandescent bulbs still have a useful purpose, and it may be (have been?) wise to hoard some?
I still haven’t figured out why the sound stopped working when I try to turn on the firestick – the sound works for the TV/cable. Its very aggravating.
Good thing I wasn’t home last night.
Went to WICKED – part 1 – last night with Tammy.
It was more entertaining than I thought it would be. but – 2.75 hrs – and it was only half the story.
^The time thing is what is really keeping me from going to see it. It’s soooooooo long.
well – taking a bathroom break wasn’t a problem, it didn’t move all that fast.
OMG. Then I am definitely not going to see it.
Happy 90th birthday to The King, Elvis Aaron Presley.
Annette’s mom is a HUGE Elvis fan, she went to Memphis to go to Graceland for some sort of celebration thing.
Allan has never been to Graceland, we may need to do a little weekend jaunt over there someday – just to do it.
Nothing exciting over here – I did run to Aldi yesterday to be sure we have enough milk & bread, & I got eggs from my next door neighbor.
That means we probably won’t get any snow.
but- if we do – & the power is out – then maybe a walk to Waffle House Sal. But – may have to put it off to Saturday, not sure I can get away with a 2 hour break on Friday – but- who knows – maybe????
I worked from home yesterday but I am back in the office today. 25 fucking degrees when I left for work this morning. I get daily updates from Emory’s emergency preparedness office and they are predicting snow in the morning on Friday moving to freezing rain by evening. I am comfortably predicting that Emory will go remote on Friday. Whee!
After wallowing all day yesterday we took Lyft to Moe’s & Joe’s to drink and eat our troubles away. That Mojo burger is the perfect size and it hit the spot.
That Gödel, Escher, Bach book looks interesting, I will look forward to hearing how you like it, Paulie.
Trying to provide water for birds, but this arctic weather keeps freezing it today.
And to combat a cold house, I am baking a loaf of beer bread.
Taken the beer bread out, and replaced it with some sweet potatoes, one of which will be part of my lunch. I’m like Wee Little Homemaker today.
Hmmm. I was wondering why my beer bread didn’t rise as much as I thought it should and just realized that I put in a teaspoon of baking powder instead of the required tablespoon. DANGEN!
Oh well, with enough butter slathered on it I’m sure I will eat it.
I’m sure it will be fine.
Kristina & I are going to a German Bakery (Bernhard’s) over here in Marietta soon, checking it out.
Nice!
I just ate lunch, and am feeling stuffed. I may have to bundle up and go for a walk. Or, perhaps I can convince myself to spend time on the trainer?
the German bakery was very tiny – no place to eat – so we got sandwiches to go & brought them back here.
Kristina found all kinds of stuff (she needed) in the little grocery section.
