Healthcare depresses me. It appears that I will have to pay nearly $11,000 for the same exact (minimal) healthcare that I have today; this is an increase of $100/month. One of the lowest premium cost plans I see in the marketplace, also comes with a $6000 deductible, so I essentially have to pay $17,000 out of pocket before I start seeing any “insurance benefits”. How exactly is this affordable healthcare?

Wordle: three, my starter was SHAFT (which has already been a previous Wordle solution, but is what I feel I am receiving)
Connections: perfect, Blue > Green > Purple > Yellow

Wordle in 5, yesterday in 2.

My weekend did not go exactly as planned. I worked the race all day Saturday and everything went well went to bed Saturday night and was awakened by heart arrhythmia about 130 and visit with my friends in the ER and by that time the arrhythmia had cleared. Just to be on the safe side. I took it easy yesterday.

The trailer we were hoping to buy this week was sold out from under us. When you price something 25% under market, they go very quickly. Still looking for a trailer so… We did prepare a new parking space adjacent to the man cave. I moved all the tractor attachments onto the hill so we could actually use that piece of driveway for either the old trailer or the new one.

have you talked to Davey on how he figures out his healthcare? I KNOW he doesn’t pay anywhere near that much. He uses Kaiser – or at least he did last year. I know he was just working on refiguring it out last week.

    • I’ve not talked to him. Our finances might be very different, however.

One thing that is going to help me in the coming months once I’m forced to buy my own health insurance is that it is tax-deductible if one is self-employed. I am also going to get a plan that has an HSA (health savings account) so that I can cover a good chunk of any deductible with pre-tax dollars. I’m guessing the former isn’t of any benefit to you, but the latter could be.

Health care is something I’m very grateful for. You may not make very much money working at a university, but to me it’s worth it for the health care benefits.

Pretty quiet weekend. We got mani-pedis on Saturday. Watched football all day on Saturday and Sunday. Newsflash: the Pats lost.

  4. Weird neighbor (me) struck again this morning. While I was stymied from using my new wagon to collect discarded Halloween pumpkins, I managed to bring home seven leaf bags today. Sadly the wagon could only carry three at a time — two standing upright, one lying down — but it did lighten the load some.

OK, wonders never cease. On Saturday I ordered some poster-sized prints of some of my photos to the CVS on Boulevard to create some artwork for my new pad. The so-called same-day printing failed, I didn’t get an email saying my stuff was done. I asked my daughter to check on Sunday, and CSV photo printing apparently is like the McFlurry machines that memes are made of (always broken). Today I was trying to get the status of my order, to no avail, and decided what the hell, I’ll email customercare@cvs.com and ask them to ship me the pictures. I figured it was an exercise in futility. Turns out I got a response in two minutes offering to send the order to another store. What the hell is this customer service business? I thought that had gone away everywhere. I’m not going to hold my breath about my pictures actually getting printed. I hope they do, I got a 70% off deal is supposed to give me 6 posters for less than $40, which I will then encase in Ikea frames.
