    Wordle in 5.

Unpacked and did chores yesterday. It’s back to the grind tomorrow, so today is my last day of “vacation”. In unpacking, I found one of the small trailer ball locks, which I need to put back on its trailer. A special trip, but maybe an opportunity to eat good Mexican in Tucker.

Wordle had me gnashing my teeth but in the end I made it in 4. Could have been 3 but I had to use an letter elimination round.

Kevin’s procedure went fine yesterday, then we went for an extended lunch at Six Feet since he hadn’t eaten since Sunday. We watched three episodes of Peaky Blinders, the last one was the start of the 5th season.

I am liking apartment living more and more by the day. Last night I started feeling warm, so I checked the thermostat. It’s one of those Nest things, and it showed an error of E195, which upon initial Googling indicated a wiring fault. Further investigation on YouTube showed the real issue, a clogged drain pipe. I slept with my window open last night, and then this morning submitted a maintenance request around 9:15. By 11:15 the issue was resolved, and the maintenance guy confirmed the clogged drainage tube. Glory hallelujah, I did not have to: a) call an HVAC dude, b) wait for the HVAC dude to show up at some point, c) deal with the HVAC dude, and especially d) pay the HVAC dude. Plus it was fixed within 2 hours of my reporting it. Amazing. I paid a lot of attention to the leasing people when I was apartment shopping, because I knew that was a glimpse into the corporate culture. I definitely chose my complex well.

Rachel showed me how to operate the gas fireplace on the 7th floor pool deck last night, that was a lovely hangout while she worked on homework.

I got a little too vigorous on my kitchen purge last weekend and discovered the hard way that I had donated my big pot that I use for cooking pasta. Or thought I did. My soon-to-be-ex took the nice All-Clad pot and left me the shitty one I’d bought when I was 21, which is what got donated. I ordered a new pot from Williams-Sonoma, which suprisingly had the lowest price. Even the checkout dude there last night said I got a good deal on my new All-Clad pot, which is actually an upgrade because it has a built-in strainer basket, which means one or more of my collanders are now not long for this earth. I walked to Ponce City Market, and got a workout lugging the pot back home. I don’t drive to Publix any more, I only walk, which severely limits my impulse purchases since that’s more lugging.

I like walking to the grocery store, so I don’t buy much. Its an almost 4 mile round trip walk. so I don’t do it all that often (only when I just need something small & light & I have enough time)

Awesome on the pool deck fireplace – you will have to invite us over – is there any visitor parking? Do you get assigned to spots for your apartment?

I need heavy things like cat litter pretty often, there’s no way I could carry that two miles. But if I didn’t need something heavy, ERD Kroger is about a mile from me.

carrying cat litter -that’s crazy talk.
I only do it when I need something that will fit in a little backpack.
