The biggest reason that I am contemplating shutting this down is because I don’t want to have a task while on my journey to deliver my mother north. This trip is about me and my family, and I intend to be offline (in regard to any social media) for it.
I have already written next Tuesday’s blog post.
I know that the EPA or whoever is checking the air quality post-bio-lab-fire says that the air is fine, but I have been outside a lot and can’t help but feel a nagging, slight irritation in my throat. Sure, it could be psychosomatic, but it also could be related. This irritation combined with hip pain kept me from riding last night.
Yesterday the silent auction put on by the Organic Grower’s School and which was to end last night was suspended. I’m not surprised, nor am I upset, but I was the leading bidder on a couple of items that I was hoping to win. I am also expecting to hear of the cancellation of the workshops which were the reason I was planning to head back to western North Carolina at the end of the month. I’m trying to decide if I will go elsewhere that weekend, or remain at the ITP Estate and save some money instead.
Countdown to Shutdown: T – 6
Wordle: five, my starter was TRADE
Connections: perfect, Green > Purple > Blue > Yellow
Wordle in 5.
Our pre meeting meeting and dinner moved from the Iron Horse in Norcross to the host hotel. Iron Horse has cut back on their menu and dinner, a beer (maybe 2) and tip was hitting $40. The hotel had a nice chicken pot pie (not as good as OK Cafe, but still) which I enjoyed. 1 beer, tab $30.
Our ticket pre-sales are down 10% from last year which has the boss worried. There was a spike last week in local sales as the Park has uppeed their FB posts, so that was good.
Debbie was looking forward to hunting this morning, but Cash is missing a show, so no ride for her.
You can take a break from the blog.

Got a few things done yesterday – sent off the Thank You cards for the funeral donations for Mom, paid my estimated taxes, was going to pay the property taxes (1st time) but went to the wrong Cobb office – realize I was thinking the elections office was the taxes office. (So, Allan is going to pay today – I know we can do it online probably, but…..)
Went & met Allan at Howell’s Bar & Grill (on Howell Mill Rd – who’d have thunk that) for a new place to try in the City an almost even distance between our house & the firehouse. It was tasty, a little on the pricy side, but I felt like salmon & not a sandwich or pizza.
I am going to pay my property taxes in person when I return from Mom’s Last Road Trip. I will also vote early then.
Been to Howell’s twice — once at the end of a hash, once with the drinking buddies — but only for beers.
wow – a hash ending there – seems a little nice 😉
I think it was Aw Burned Out’s Monday Night Canada Day hash five years ago.
I was thinking yesterday that it was likely you just didn’t want the hassle of keeping up the blog during your road trip. That’s totally understandable. I might suggest that it’s not a great idea to further isolate yourself, though.
We went to Ocean Wave for dinner and then watched an episode of Peaky Blinders and then watched the Braves lose.
I am concerned about my tendency and desire to be solo. I’m not sure what will do about it, especially as my pain increases and makes me less enthusiastic, or able, to accomplish things that bring me joy.
Am I puttering or pottering in WLF this morning?
WHOA. Just read this stat: “40 trillion gallons. That’s the staggering amount of rain that fell on the Southeast last week from Hurricane Helene and another storm that preceded it, according to calculations by former NOAA chief scientist Ryan Maue.”
YIKES
Yowza!
One of the theories I read about why the storm kept a lot of its strength as it moved inland was the amount of rain we just had the days before and they had a term, I think it was “brown sea” (i.e. dirt). The storm was still drawing power from the warm water on the land. Wow, that’s a seriously scary thought.
Scary indeed.
GREEN – YELLOW – BLUE – PURPLE
no mistakes today
Wordle in 4 – I’ll take it after yesterday
Nice! I got into a battle figuring out the second letter.
Maybe you assign admin rights on the blog to an enthusiastic reader among us so someone else can create a daily post? That would enable us to continue to talk amongst ourselves, and you could join in when the spirit moved you?
I certain understand wanting to go on a hiatus with your mother and family. I wish you the best for your trip, and I hope that after that you keep the blog alive in some form or fashion. It’s good for you, and it’s also good for us.
That’s an interesting idea. I will consider it.
Thanks.
Hip is really limiting me today. This will have to be a priority upon my return because it feel as it has aged me ten years since March.
Just heard via email from AirBnB owner. She said they hope to have water restored in 2-4 weeks. Unfortunately I had to tell her that I was probably going to cancel my reservation.
The money I don’t spend for that weekend will go toward Mom’s Last Road Trip.
the AirBnB owner should cancel your reservation – that way maybe you well get the full amount back – don’t they usually withhold the AirBnb fee if you cancel?
To be honest I have no idea.
