It’s getaway day for me! At this point whatever I have forgotten to pack will be purchased in Europe.

And now you might be expecting to see how much money I earned starting last year in order to pay for this trip. Recall my goal was $3500. I didn’t make nearly that amount and cannot tell you exactly how much I did because I stopped tracking my progress in early April; at that time I had earned about $1300.

I’ve loaded (more content than I can possibly consume) and charged all of my electronics. This will be the first trip on which I have not packed a camera. What?!?! I am relying on my aged iPhone XS to save my memories, and may ask ITP-Readers Barb and Sal for some of their photos as well.

This morning I have already mowed the lawn, and while I certainly want it to rain in order to help WLF survive, hopefully the lawn isn’t too tall when I return.

Barb and Sal, I look forward to seeing you two and Allan in Brussels next Monday.

Wordle: four, my starter was TRADE

  1. I made a right mess of Connections this morning…

  2. Sally says:

Have a safe trip. See you on Monday. Until then, more work and packing to do.

    Wordle fail! Connections: X, X, P, B, Y, G. At least Strands was easy.

I mowed and edged the yard yesterday. Hopefully it won’t grow too much while I am gone. I was able to test my creek although there was all kinds of land disturbing activities still going on. I have reported them several times. At least now they have put up a silt fence. Took my recycling to the recycling place. Only made 17.80 this trip. I think they cheat me sometimes. I think they over estimate the tare weight. Fun GUTS run last night. It was a little cooler with a nice breeze.

Otherwise I have no words of wisdom this morning.

  3. There wasn’t much grass tall enough to cut, but whatever there was has been.

    • Barb says:

our grass is getting long, but we will wait until Friday to cut it.

Flight on Saturday is at 3:30pm. trying to decide how early to leave – drive to West End – get on Marta – then take the shuttle over to the International terminal. OR – can we check bags in Domestic? I hadn’t even looked into that idea.

Wordle in 4 today and 6 yesterday.

By the time I got home from all the fun at Emory and finished my nap, it was far too late to post on the blog. And except for some bleeding at the site of the spinal tap, everything was pretty easy. I thought I would treat myself with OHOP on Cheshire Bridge, but when I drove by, they were closed!! 11AM! WTF, O? I looked for a note on the door, but there was none. Hmmm…

And after all the talk last week of the spare being the culprit in the TPMS warning, the right front was almost flat when I got home yesterday! Maybe I have a real issue!!!

Kevin went to the Braves game with a friend last night so I had a GLORIOUS night alone at home. I ordered food and read my book, it was amazing.

I ordered the burger from Fred’s Meat & Bread and it was tremendously underwhelming. They are supposed to be the same team as the General Muir, and the GM burger is the absolute BEST burger in the city. So that was disappointing.

    • Barb says:

Fred’s Meat & Bread – I thought the only sandwich to be ordered from there is the cheesesteak. 😉 It was a very tasty cheesesteak the time we met David down there.
I need to get back to Krog Street Market someday.

    • I saw a YouTube video where a guy highlighted places in Atlanta to eat. Fred’s Meat & Bread was the first place he visited, and everyone was up in arms that they charge $12 for their hamburger. Obviously these people don’t get out to eat very often since COVID.

  6. Starting to get antsy to get things underway. I have a checklist of things to do prior to leaving, need to ensure I follow it.

    • Barb says:

I have a huge pile of clothes pulled out – next job is to whittle it down – just trying to decide how much of what I need. no bike jerseys, but 2 (or maybe 3) pairs of bike shorts to wear under other shorts/pants.

new rain jacket is here – funniest thing – I ordered 2 (couldn’t decide between 2) – 1 came in an amazon box, 1 came with just the label attached to the clear plastic bag. 1 will be going back to UPS store later this morning.

  7. My ancient bedroom ceiling fan is starting to make weird noises, perhaps the bearings/bushings are starting to wear out? Can’t worry about this now, just noting it as a project for the future…

  8. Because I am out of practice I am at the airport ridiculously early. My scheduled Lyft went well. Lines to check bag and security were short. Barb, I didn’t see anyone using digital bag check, and my benefit for TSA PerCheck was getting some card to hand the next agent and being able to walk through the scanner in shoes and with my belt on. 😀

    • I picked a bad time to remember that I forgot to apply deodorant. I’m feeling European already!

    • Barb says:

so there was no actual precheck line? that means you had to take your ele3ctronics out of your bag? That’s stupid they don’t have a precheck scanner.

too bad you didn’t upgrade to Delta One – you could go hang in the Sky Club

      • For $3000+ I can buy beer. lol

No dedicated TSA PreCheck line. Because I had this card given to me I didn’t have to take anything out of my bag.

        • Barb says:

they had to rescreen my bag, had to take my computer & iPad out. I was very annoyed. Not that I didn’t have the time, it was just annoying.

  9. I just booked a weekend away for the weekend after I return. Mo money! Mo money!

Details, perhaps, when the time grows nearer.

  10. Barb says:

Croatia – the next Brag destination – next July.
