’twas a long day of driving yesterday, but I think that I made the right decision to backtrack toward Florence, SC. Once I was through a small band of rain it was fairly smooth sailing as I drove northward with the eye of the storm, only encountering some more small bands of rain along the way.

*Somebody* forgot to wish his great friend Lisa a happy birthday on July 28th, using the lame excuse that he was dead to the world after being in a school bus for something like twenty hours, so a stop at Total Wine was made and an bottle of wine acquired as compensation. Oh, and that somebody also stopped at a small brewery called Sneaky Penguin Brewing Company because, it is called Sneaky Penguin! The west coast IPA was very good, but I, I mean, somebody needed a nap therefore one beer was the limit.

We spent the night eating a lovely dinner at the house, watching the Olympics.

Today? Choring Raleigh Royalty style!

Wordle: six, my starter was ALTER
Connections: perfect, Yellow > Green > Blue > Purple

    Wordle in 5.

After a dermatologist appointment, I came home and mowed a bit. I also have a low pressure warning on the new car and went around again and checked all the tires. That sensor might get replaced. I wonder if I know anyone who has experience with Mazda TPMS? hahahaha

The cycling coverage was interesting. Some curious calls and some rider confusion in one particular mass start race. We also watched speed climbing and the other climbing- more solve the puzzle and don’t fall off. Both boring to watch but interesting in concept. Debbie says that’s an oxymoron.

    Have a great weekend!

    • Funny. Get used to that GD TPMS noise. You reminded me, the M6 signaled its alarm on my way to Florence. Unfortunately for me the M6 isn’t top tier, so all I know is at least one sensor isn’t happy, but I am not told which one.

      • Jenka says:

Mine’s the same, every 6 weeks or so the TPMS alert comes on and I have no idea which tire it is. It happens so often that I just ignore it.

    Wordle in 2 starting with COUCH. Connections: y, g, x, x, x, p, b. Strands, again, was easy.

Yesterday was uneventful. Dogs go home tonight. 5k race in the morning and then working the rest of the day. Might hash on Sunday depending on where it is.

Just watched a video about AI. How it could be humanity’s final invention. It took millions of years to develop humanity’s powerful intelligence. With the push for general AI, could the reign of the human mind be over?

    • Steve says:

Somebody still has to keep it plugged in! And it can’t scramble an egg.

    • Bob says:

For some yes, for others it opens up a whole new world. Some will use it lazily to do everything for them but if used productively it can be a huge benefit. Imagine you are working on a huge complex problem, AI can solve the first 50% of that problem so you can focus on the last half. You have a huge leg up on a solution.
AI can write code but it is not perfect, so instead of writing all the code AI can spit out a 90% complete project and you can just clean it up. We are just scratching the surface of what it can do. It’s going to be interesting to see the progress.

I think we’re fucked. Did no one see Terminator 2?!

  4. Jenka says:

Thank goodness for Friday, what a week. I’m knocking off at 2:00 today and we’re heading up to the cabin for max relaxation!

    • Barb says:

Good times up in Ellijay –
I was just talking to JoAnna about her cabin, I’m hoping to get some free time someday & get up there. Mabe in September, but then, it might be rented as its closer to apple season.

  5. I think I have a new favorite Olympian, the bespectacled French runner/hurdler Louise Maraval. The fact she competes in the glasses you’d wear on the street won me over.

    • Bob says:

I saw that yesterday and said she looks like a librarian. Super fast librarian.
The fact her name is Louise makes it even more so

  6. I’m sorry, I don’t think that break dancing is a sport.

    • While I am bashing on the Olympics I take the stand that you should only be allowed to compete for the country in which you were born, assuming your parents aren’t on vacation or in the military, etc.
